    I have a date!!!!

Okay, I am trying cut and paste. We voted and it in that line further down on the September 2008 Bandsters. I am so proud to be a part of this group. Everyone is so supportave (not sure if that is spelled correctly). Good Luck, I will watch for your posts! :-) Debbie OMG! Glad u guys like it. I always think of black and red in Japanese decor. Please feel free to make it your siggie. Just right click, save it on your computer, then go to your cp, edit signature, and upload it from your files. We can also create several different siggies and choose the one we like the most. __________________

    Big Day Today!

Hey, way to go. I am still waiting for my Psyc Consult, Stress EKG and my Nutritionist. I was approved for the surgery, but the little things are killing me.

    Anyone banding September 5th?

You are sooner than me, I am September 17, but in California. So how are things going for you, running into any road blocks?

    The one thing

My one thing - Throw my Blood Pressure and Diabetes medicines in the trash. Not glamorous, but I really started fearing that "it might be the death of me".

    Scheduled for 9/29

Welcome to our group. Everyone is in the same place and we understand where you are coming from. I cannot tell you how many times my questions are being asked by someone else. It helps me feel normal, knowing that I am not alone. You are not alone!
  8. I can't thank everyone for all their input on this one. This is a huge thing for me. I told just a few at work (3 plus my boss, a man, who had no idea what a lap band was, I had to explain.) Most were so supportive, so I told another work friend who I thought would understand because she has a cronic illness - WRONG. Just what I needed another lecture on how if I would just control myself and do exactly as she say and not be a pig I could loose and maintain the loss. After this, only the few at work who know and my immediate family. This is such a hard decision to begin with, add to it all the hoops you have to jump through just to get it done. Then add in some fear and worry over stupid things like your meds that you take that are HUGE and you worry about things like getting slimed and stuck and that is about where I am now. This isn't something done lightly, I am going to have to change my life forever. If I am lucky I will end up being the first 100 year old September Samurai.
  9. Tally, let me know how you do. I am worried about the liquids being at work, getting enough to drink. Looks like we have the same time frame, except I don't have to travel. I wish you well on that, going back to work after a vacation is hard enough.

    A must see video

Thats okay, we all have our "quirks". Someone was telling me about a work related accident, just words, and I amost passed out. Blood I can do, but words. I must be a sickie, I love watching Discovery Health. What is up with that?

    A must see video

I read a thread and someone suggested viewing a 5 part video showing the lap band procedure. I highly recommed it, it is very imformative and I personally got a lot out of it. I had attended a seminar that showed stills, this shows it all. Of course everyone's Doctor has their own procedure, put a lot of my questions were answered. I know a few of you may have already seen this, but for me it was new. If you go to Youtube and key in " Live Lap Band surgery - Kansas City ", there are 5 parts and it takes about an hour to watch. It is a quality video of a complete lap band surgery. The Doctor explains everthing while he is working. Let me know what you think. Caution - No blood and guts, but it does show an actual surgery. Take care everyone -
  12. My surgery is scheduled for Wednesday 9-17 and I am returning to work on Monday 9-22. I too my have a haital hernia repair, but I need to return to work. Dr K said I could return the next day if I felt good, since I had an office job. I have to make it work, I am using Vacation Days.

    Lap-Band vs. Realize band?

Everytime I think I know enough, I find there is still so much more to learn. At first I was ticked off at myself for choosing a date 3 months in advance, but between getting my approval, my psyc consult and tests I am beginning to find the time racing by. Thanks for the help, I will check this out further. Now I have more questions....... Good Grief!! :-)
  14. Okay, I should have tried it before I did the last reply. Your instructions were easy to follow - I DID IT!!! I am not the most savey with this type of thing, give me Excel anyday, but I am pretty proud of myself Thanks:teeth_smile:
  15. This is the cutest banner, thanks for taking the time to design, you must be VERY talented.

    Lap-Band vs. Realize band?

I believe the Realize is the "next generation". There is a video on Utube, the doctor uses Realize. I didn't realize - lol - there was a new one. I'm not even sure which my Doc uses. Also, I didn't know there were diff sizes. Watch the video, very informative, well I found it interesting anyway. I know all Docs use their own technique, but this dude goes into detail. The Video Doc said the new one has a lower incidence of slippage. I guess I will have to check with my Doc to see which I will get. If you go to Youtube and key in " Live Lap Band surgery - Kansas City ", there are 5 parts and it takes about an hour to watch. It is a quality video of a complete lap band surgery. Good Luck Debbie

    Surgery on Sept. 24th

Congradulation on getting your surgery date. And, Welcome to our little group. There are quite a few very sweet September Banders just waiting to break out of their shells. To me it seems like September is turning into a fantastic month!

Do any of you get "crap" from RNY

You have courage. I was going to avoid the August group but maybe I should go and hold my head up. It's only a few hours and you make VERY valid points. I am just shy in front of strangers. I have to say though, I have forced myself, to post, to get involved, to sit in the front of the room during the seminar and to go up and shake the Doctor's hand after. I have to take control of my life, I have the control to make this work. Only two more weeks, I will let all of you know how it goes.

New to site and just learning.

I am so confused................ 64 ounces, no carbonation, no sports top. You need to drink16 ounces of milk a day for the Calcium and protien. AND you cannot drink during meals. So does this mean no more cold Cereal? OR is that a no no anyway? And what about Soup, like lentil and veggies? 64 ounces - good grief. I guess I really need to meet with the Nutritionist. She make my appointment 2 weeks before my surgery. I guess I need to write my questions down so I don't forget them, I get very nervous when I see the Dr

    Can I just say....

Your date is August, Mine is in September. Let me know, the good the bad and the ugly. Take Care.

    Sliming??!!

Thanks for explaining. I know omg - too gross, but these are the things you need to know. I take two VERY large medications and I am starting to think about what I will need to do. I heard some take children's chewable, is that an option?
  22. debbieperez55

    Fill question

Why the different sizes of bands? Is 14cc better than 10cc? I know the fills are slow as needed so that you can get use to them, but what is up with the size? I am confused. Did your Dr tell you ahead of time what size you would be getting?

    Hello

I have Anthem Blue Cross HMO, I called the number on my card and spoke to my insurance directly. That way I was able to tell my Dr that the insurance said they would pay. You have to meet the requirements, BMI over 40 and such, but call the number on your card and speak to customer service. The person I spoke to told me She and several others in her office had the Lap Band. She was a godsend!

    Can I just say....

We are so lucky that this site exists. I was told I had to have a support group but my Doctor's was all ByPass RNY and they are not open to the Lap Band approach. I get so much support and help from everyone in here.

New to site and just learning.

Check out the Frequently Asked Questions by Alex. I got tons of info from there. From what I understand, you stomach is the size of an egg. You drink liquids between meals and no liquid with meals. Liquid makes the food go through faster, and the goal is to have the food release slowly. The band is adjustable and once you get it right it helps your brain think it is full. Check out that link, it will answer many of your questions. Hope this helps
