Post Band Pain
zukagirl22 replied to savannahsmommie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
depends on what you do. i know i got really lightheaded if i sat too long or if i was on my feet too long. you just might need to take it slow. -
i'm gonna be honest with ya.... still have yet to get my ass to the gym!!! but when i used to go before the band i went min 30 min max 40 min. when i start back up at the gym my goal is to do about 45min to an hour.

biotin is a suppliment that promotes hair and nail growth. some people myself included suffer from thinning hair anywhere from4-9 months out after the surgery. some say it's because your nutrition intake has decreased. some say its'syou body reacting anesthesa. i getine at GNC.

i am very sorry. i can only imagine how frustrating this is for you. does he do fills under fluroscope? some times when they do fills under fluroscope it can give them an idea of how fast liquids are passsing through your band or if maybe your stomach puch has stretched or maybe if your band has slipped. how much does your band hold as far as a fill goes? maybe even see about finding another doctor to do fills for a second opinion.

I had to do 3 months or preop diet, psych eval, swallow test, and meet with the doctors before i could submit any paperwork to the insurance company. When i got approved then they did all my blood work and ekg. yeah...long process but so worth it!!!!!! :cool2:

isn't feeling restricted the point?????????
zukagirl22 replied to 2Flyguys's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
2 fly guys, Do you know how much he is putting in at each fill. If he is only doing 1cc or less each fill you might have less in you band then i had at the 5th fill. (thats about how many it took to really get results.) Also make sure your not eating mushy foods that will just go right through the band. that would leave you hungry faster. -
Will the band stop ALL hunger?
zukagirl22 replied to lingling's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No the band will not rid you of all hunger. the main idea is that it will fill you up on less food. -
just had my first fill and I am hungry!!
zukagirl22 replied to hanna61's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is whats called BANDSTER HELL!!! it's when you can eat almost anything you want and almost as much as you want because you have no restriction. Remember the band alone soesn't always give restriction. it needs to be filled. It might take anywhere from 1-5 fills depending how much your doc puts in each fill before you get restriction. Personally i didn't hit my sweet spot until fill # 5. now i have great restrcition and am loosing weight. Stick in there! -
Banded for 7 months and now too much restriction
zukagirl22 replied to karebare714's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
you have the right idea. go back to liquids for 24- 48 hours. Let the swelling go down. Then just remember bites the size of an earser on a pencil and chew! now in the morning i often get full on just yogurt. i usually can't even finish a whole one. But in the evening i can eat about 4 oz or so. But i would call your doctor because it couldn't hurt to get some taken out. -
Well my sliming experience is when something gets "stuck" or i just don't chew up my food enough and i produce this frothy slimy lquid that eventually comes up. No food just the slime. I had never produced such a substance before the surgery. Just try and remember to chew chew chew that food!

2weeks post op on solids and not losing
zukagirl22 replied to lapbandgirl2009's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
being only 2 weeks post op you might not have any restriction yet. you might not get any until you get your first or 4th fill for that matter. I was able to eat anything and as much as wanted at 1 month post op. i really didn't get great restriction until jan when i had my 5th fill. stick with it!!!! it'll get better. -
Insurance requirements
zukagirl22 replied to Teach2011's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
well the insurance companies likes to make you jump thru hoops. this is ususally an attempt to prevent people froom following thru with the surgery. Most insurance companies do want a 6 month diet program of some sorts. once a month or every 30 to 35 days. Some companies will want you to loose weight but mine didn't. i just couldn't gain. I say just do the 6 month thing. i know it sucks but hey you gotta do what you gotta do. -
congrats!!!!
-
WOW congrats BEK!
-
wow. i'm not part of the 1% just wanted to say sorry about whats happened and hope your surgery goes well.

Well i finally have a NSV worth posting about!!!! I went shopping yesterday and i went into GAP and just for the hell of it i picked up a size 12 in pants to try it on. and it FIT!!!!!!! OMG it FIT!!!!!so after the initial excitement i looked at the price tag . Normally that kinda price would have me putting the jeans back but i felt so happy to fit into them i didn't care!!! i bought them with a smile on my face. i think the cashier thought i was drunk or something. i was so giddy when i was buying my new size 12 jeans.

Possible postponement?
zukagirl22 replied to hkitty's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
really sorry about the set back. i'm sure they just want to make sure you have a SAFE surgery. hate to sound harsh but it would do you no good to have the surgery if you never woke up from it afterwards. i hope all goes well!! and congrats on getting this far. -
Food hasn't gotten stuck. Anyone else?
zukagirl22 replied to serenity55's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
well really it's not to bad. i would rather PB then have something stuck (it's so uncomfortable) but most the time they both happen simotanously. But it's a small price to pay for the weight loss!!! gotta look at that glass half full :rolleyes2: the best advice i could tell ya would be to eat SMALL bites and CHEW CHEW CHEW that food!!!! -
congrats on the happy news!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

maybe you need another fill. make an appt with your doctor. sometimes i feel like i have restriction and then when i do the swallow test under fluoroscope the doctor says i have none and i get a little fill. i can see the fluid going staright through the band.
-
you should not be expected to drop 20 lbs in a month. actually that is one of the differences between gastric bypass and the band. the band is supposed to be a slower rate of weight loss. now some do loose a lot and very fast but usually those people are weighing in the 300-400 lbs range. the more you weigh the faster you loose. now also you might not have much restriction until you get a few fills. i was able to eat like normal for almost 4 months after my surgery. now that i have had more fills and tighter restriction i am really starting to loose the weight. be patient and try not to care what everyone else thinks.

What are the steps you have to take before surgery?
zukagirl22 replied to Minniemouse's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i signed up for a seminar. i just googled lap band surgery and san antonio tx and found one. at the seminar i gave them a copy of my insurance card and set up my first appt. with the doctor. first available appt was 2 weeks later. in the mean time the patient advocate contacted my insurance to see if it was covered and what steps were needed by the insurance. i needed a 3 month suprevised diet with no weight loss needed. i also needed a psych test and a swallow study done under furoscope. I first attened my seminar in march. surgery done in august. it can be a long process. many insurance companies require a 6 month supervised diet and some even want you to loose 10% of your body fat. It can be a long process but first you need to attend a few seminars. then they are usually more than happy to call the insurance company to find out if your insurance covers weigh loss surgery or what they require to have the surgery covered. hope this helps
