Surgery May 20th, 28 days ago, and down 20 lbs post surgery and 45 lbs total. Looking forward to solid food next week. Plenty of ideas on what to avoid, but looking for 1st solid meals to celebrate (safely!)

Just make sure not to over-do it the first two days. Mine was like yours; didn't feel like much was done, but I found out jostling in the car really made me sore later. Walk when you can, but lay off car rides as much as possible for a few days! Lesson learned

My stage 2 (days 4-14 from my 3 sessions with the dietitian shows this for grains/starches: "Cream of wheat thinned, cream of rice thinned, thinned mashed potatoes, all thinned with fat free milk or broth". I like the broth. There's not much else on the 4-14 list other than something called liquid gelatin. Still trying to figure out if that is microwaved jello or what! I'd call and ask, as you need something beyond liquids to quell the hunger.

So I am post op +5 days, and have not had anything close to flavorful for several weeks until thinned potatoes! I've discovered they were serious when told not to take in too much, so recommend taking it slow and thinning potatoes with chicken broth (and eating with a small toddler spoon!). They taste like heaven after the past few weeks!

My surgery was May 20th and went well. They told me going in that I needed to get there 2 hrs before surgery to go through paperwork and get prepped, then 1 hour for surgery (gastric sleeve) and 4 hrs of observation post surgery. They want to make sure you can walk a couple laps around the nurse station post op, and can drink at least 8+ of the 1 oz cups of water and ice cubes. At that point they discharged me and we were outta there.

Just completed my gastric sleeve surgery on May 20th; working through the liquid diet post op. So far the best thing to eat has been the thinned mashed potatoes. Surgery went well; 30 minutes they tell me, and I was out same day (no overnight stay). I recommend minimizing car rides post op; our house was 55 miles from the hospital and that ride was painful about 5 hours after surgery. Down 35 lbs so far; 65 lbs to go; well on the way!
