Diva, Please do not advance what you try to eat just because you are feeling that you can. It's not about what you "want", or think you "can", it's about letting your stomach heal. You are supposed to do the Clear liquids, full liquids, then mushies for the prescribed periods not to torture you, but to keep your stomach from having to do any real digesting. I know it's very hard and, trust me, you will find a LOT of sympathy here from others in your exact same situation. Just lean on us! We don't want you to hurt yourself by being non-compliant.

Hi Lady, and welcome to the board! I'm getting banded on the 28th too  If you have a GNC or any other bodybuilder/vitamin store, check it out before you buy online. GNC sells the isopure and bullets in singles. I tried the isopure right in the store because they always have some in the fridge. Funny how I'm so used to buying sodas at the checkout at the market but now I can buy a drink from the same kind of display at the vitamin store! I didn't like any of the isopure, but I LOVE the fruit punch New Whey bullets in my crystal light. Lanakila

Hmmmm...I'm not sure about you! You have exhibited a lack of judgement by supporting the wrong son

Welcome to the board! You will find that we will all welcome you with open arms and will support you 100%. Come back often!

Welcome to the board! Check out the post at the top of the board that is called "August 2008 Bandsters" for a list of the folks that we know of who are getting banded this month. I haven't looked at a map, but I see that there's someone from Stroudsburg on the 12th, and a few more folks listed as being from the state. Lanakila

Don't suffer with a lack of variety by sticking to just chocolate and vanilla shakes. The New Whey Bullets are fantastic dumped into Crystal Light. Just make sure that you pour in only half if you get a 42 g because your body cannot absorb that much protein at once.

What do you drink? Confused about caffeine/carbonation
Lanakila replied to Hope2bthinrn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just about had a heart attack when I saw that I would have to give up caffeine. The very first thing I asked the dietician about was why not? She said that on top of the fact that caffeine is (1) a diuretic, and (2) a stimulant, it is also (3) an irritant to the lining of your stomach. Since liquids can go right through the banded part of your stomach, they end up on the other side with little or no food to buffer the effect on the lining. I thought her argument of "Three Strikes and It's Out" was a good one. As a reformed Diet Pepsi drinker, I now understand that carbonation is out for good. I figure that this surgery costs a fortune, comes with the risks that come with all surgeries, and that I went into this knowing that there would need to be some lifestyle changes. It just about kills me to walk past a soda, but weighing that against my investment in myself I just had to let it go. -

Here's a link to the forum for Tennesseans. If the link doesn't work, go to the home page and scroll down the menu on the left until you see Local Lapband Support Groups and go in that way. Tennessee Local Lap-Band Support - Lap Band Surgery and Lap Band Discussion Forum Let's Go Peay! -
I understand. It is a bit of work and baseball has to be GRUELING what with all of the games they have! You can keep an eye on the smack here on the thread though :tt2:

I'll send a link via Private Message this weekend. We weren't sure that we would have enough to start a new league, but it looks like we'll have it so we'll get it set up! So far everyone is on the East coast except Felicia, so we'll probably have a later draft time to make sure that anyone out West will be home. Bring along any friends you may have on the other boards that might be interested. I'll post a link here too! Lanakila

Here's an overview of how FF is played. Don't worry if you don't have any experience...it'll be fun to see if a Rookie can kick butt! Rules and Instructions If you have any questions...ask away!

Yep, but they aren't the "fun" kind Nice symbolism! That's what I'm going for, but I'd imagine some folks will pick silly too  This will be fun!

Protein/Caloric/Fat intake
Lanakila replied to Eeyore's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your doctor should never, ever be mad at you. It's ok if they are straightforward, but they should also offer you some strategies that may help you out. It's never fair to criticize without offering some possible solutions. Don't beat yourself up about the weight issue, and don't let anyone else either. It sounds like you are doing great on your lifestyle changes...so Celebrate that as a victory. The rest will come.... -
Hmmmm...a love affair with a Protein Drink? I want one of those What protein are you using?
