    Hi from Ireland!

Thanks Siepie. Dr De Bruyne said the only stitch that needed to be taken out by a doctor or nurse was 'the blue stitch'. He said the rest would dissolve themselves. If there is no blue stitch, I won't bother with the GP at all. I think I'll send an e-mail to Frederik and ask. I hope your second fill goes well. How was the first one for you? Do you think I should go for a first fill in August?....is it too soon? Take care, and thanks again J.

    Hi from Ireland!

Hi folks; Coming around after surgery last Wednesday in Brussels. I had a bad reaction to the anaesthetic, so it was not a pleasant experience. There were two other Irish women there also, one who had her mother with her. Only for them, it would have been a lot worse for me. They were very supportive. I'm afraid I didn't get a chance to admire any of the handsome medical staff! However, now, apart from some gas pain I'm doing fine. I have no interest what so ever in food, for the first time in my whole life....if only that could last! I'm forcing down Protein drinks, apple juice, and a little sugarfree jelly and natural yoghurt. Even Water is an effort. The smell of Soup is not attractive to me at present. I presume when the swelling goes down I'll return to normal, but hopefully in some control of my appetite. I was told that there was a blue stitch on the incision at the left, where the port is, that would need to be removed by the GP in ten days; I can't see that stitch at all. Did anyone else have a problem finding it? Hope you're all doing well. Blessings J.

    Hi from Ireland!

I'd be grateful if any of you could give me a list of foods/drinks/supplements that I should have ready for myself in the weeks after the banding op. Is the rule any liquids, or should they be clear liquids and, if so, what exactly are 'clear liquids'? The Americans on the forum talk a lot about protein drinks. Do we have them here? As I live in the countryside I'd like to get my supplies in before I return. Thanks for any guidance you folks can give. J.

    Hi from Ireland!

Hi folks. Thanks for the welcome. Yes the spelling is Jellybaby, because at 48 years of age they are still one of my favourite foods. I'm afraid I've never quite grown up food wise. If I'm honest, I still prefer chips burgers to avocados or smoked salmon. I have struggled between 10 st. 2 lbs and 15 st.7 lbs several times over the past 20 years. The band is my final spur to take hold of myself and grow up in my eating habits. I'm being banded on Wednesday. I expect to feel pretty grotty for a few days (hope I'm well enough to suss out the hot doctors Roe!), but then...new life , I hope. I live an hour from Cork city. I hope I will be able to join you in the future in Dublin or where ever Blessings J.

    Hi from Ireland!

Hi great Irish bandster community. I have been lurking on the site and reading your posts for about six months now....there are some great Soap story moments there! I met one of you, an Australian woman I think (who flashed her beautiful, incredible shrinking belly at me!), when I was up for my initial consultation with Dr. De Bruyne a while back....hope the belly is still shrinking. Anyway, I go to Brussels for my surgery next week. You are such great support for each other and an inspiration for me; I am glad to be joining the community and look forward to sharing my journey with you all. I just wanted to sign up before I am in need of emergency advice when I get home next week. Good luck to you all Jellybaby
