    May Surgeries - check in!

It's weird going into the weeks leading up to surgery. I still have my pre-op appointment with my primary care doctor. That's the last thing I have to do. It's going quickly now! I'm hoping the brain fogginess lets up soon.

    May Surgeries - check in!

Nice! I started mine yesterday as the surgeon's office wanted 14 full weeks of liquid + the day before surgery clear liquids. Yeesh! The only thing I'm struggling with is caffeine withdrawal! I was a HUGE fan of caffeine - I've had a foggy headache since this weekend when I quit cold turkey How is yours going? Can you have solids?

That's exactly what I was thinking!

    May Surgeries - check in!

JUST realized my 1st cycle day is surgery day 🤦‍♀️ NOT looking forward to that As I usually have SEVERE cramps. I was looking at other people's posts about it and they've said there is a lot of support during the hospital stay when you're on your period. I hope so!!! Hope it goes well for you and it's not too bad.

    May Surgeries - check in!

I am only on day 2 of my liquid pre-op. No solids at all for me. But I can have 3-5 protein shakes, V8 and of course sugar free liquids. These premier protein shakes are MUCH better than I anticipated! We'll see how I feel about that by the end of the week 😐

    May Surgeries - check in!

Just got scheduled for May 18th... same day as my daughter's birthday! Yay May Sleeves! Sent from my Pixel 4 XL using BariatricPal mobile app
  8. This is GREAT info! And NO hunger? I can barely imagine that, let alone in the middle of the liquid stage. I hope your recovery is nice and easy! Yay you! 🤩 It's been a few days, I hope things are still going well?
  9. Yessssssssssssssss! I was honestly wondering 😀 That's awesome! Congrats and I love these updates!
  10. Has anyone tried or incorporated any of the clear protein drinks into their diet? I'm wondering if these are a good option during the post-op liquid phase since they are whey protein, stevia and water. The one I have is Isopure Infusions . It mixes to clear and looks like crystal light but has 20 grams of protein. The ingredients are: 1)Whey protein isolate 2)"natural flavor" 3)citric acid 4)stevia extract 5)turmeric extract (color)
  11. This makes sense. I'm not a fan of sweets much either, and I have no idea how I'll feel after surgery. I'll check out this one as well. Thanks!
  12. That's what I was hoping to hear! I'll check with mine as well.
  13. Thank you, I'll check these out! That's exactly the types I was referring to. Did you use them in place of shakes or as part of your water intake?
  14. I apologize if this post is in the wrong category. I'm new here! I'm in the pre-op phase, almost done with completing my requirements for VSG. I've previously been a big fan of caffeine tablets. Like Jet-Alert or No-Doz. Never been a big coffee drinker. I would have about 100mg a few times a day M-F and a couple on the weekends if we were going to be busy. My husband is a huge coffee drinker and it seems I have 100mgs about as often and in the same fashion as he has a cup of coffee. Just wondering how everyone has been able to handle caffeine after surgery and when it was allowed (if ever)? How much? Around meals? Not at all? I understand that each doctor has different guidelines. What limits were you given at different points after surgery? Sent from my Pixel 5 using BariatricPal mobile app
  15. Thank you! I was thinking the same thing. I very much appreciate everyone's input. And yes, I did ask the surgeon and the dietician about caffeine pills specifically (not coffee). I listed it as medication on all of my paperwork so they understood. Obviously I'll stop taking it when they ask me to, but I wanted to know what the future will look like post-op with or without them (or any other caffeine source, for that matter). The dietician let me know that I can continue the tablets if I'd like to as early as one month after surgery. She advised I try to stop any caffeine now so that when I do my 2 weeks liquid diet I won't be in withdrawal. I've since dropped down to 100mg a day and will stop that when I get a surgery date.
  16. That's what I'd like to do! [emoji3595] I was told to ween myself off of caffeine the weeks leading up to surgery and then no caffeine for a month afterwards. Dietician said it irritates the lining of the stomach. I'll follow directions, but I honestly have no idea how I'll function without it. I've got 2 pre op requirements left, so I have lots of time to slowly decrease my intake. Sent from my Pixel 4 XL using BariatricPal mobile app

    Eggs & Beans 😀

    This is really good info!
  18. Good to hear! That nausea doesn't sound fun. I hope it goes away for you soon. I'm in the pro-op phase. I've still got 2 appointments to finish next week and then it's on to wait for approval.
  19. Oh wow, that sounds nuts. Glad they found and fixed the issue quickly, that's for sure. How have things been after that issue?
  20. Mine is 2 weeks Liquids, 2 weeks soft foods, then on to regular food. Interesting to see how other people are doing with each variance.
  21. I know everyone's experience is different, but it seems MOST people were out the next day. Good to know!

This is a GREAT idea! Sent from my Pixel 5 using BariatricPal mobile app
  23. Yes, yes and most definitely yes. I can only imagine how you must've been feeling. Now you can focus on getting ready for surgery without the worry in the back of you mind that it may not happen. I am looking forward to that call myself, so I understand! These boards have ALREADY been extremely helpful to me as an over-researcher/over-analyzer 😊 Love that other people that have been/are going through this are here for each other with all of this collective knowledge. Anyway...yay you!
