All Over & Back to Fat -n- Flabby

You will lose weight. You need to heal and then the weight loss can happen. You are talking down to yourself. You had a crappy surgery experience and now you feel bad. YOU will lose weight, feel better and look back at this time in a few months and realize you were wrong-YOU CAN DO THIS.

Rate Of Weight Loss, Those Starting Under 200 Lb?

Did you guys have complications? Ive read some people throw up a lot. Not sure if I'm getting sleeve or gastric bypass. I vomited for 9 months with the band and don't want to do that again. Also was there a lot of loose sin with weight loss

Family and friends don't get it..

This is about you, not them. Its their choice to support you or not. If they don't then they are true friends.

    Where the doubters ever right?

This is about YOU. Who cares what others think. Others don't live your life or walk in your shoes. Being overweight is a struggle and the decision to have WLS is a huge personal decision. If this is what you chose, go forward with it.

Rate Of Weight Loss, Those Starting Under 200 Lb?

I am 207 preop and was wondering if others are similar weights who had surgery as a lot of people are 300 or more. I am 5'1 and BMI is just under 40. So glad to see Im not alone

    I give up (updates)

Nancy: You CAN DO THIS. Its okay to be apprehensive, fearful of the unknown, second guess your decision, and to have moments of weakness. You can reevaluate your decision, but if you don't go thru with it, you will stay the same. You CHOSE wls for a reason. Now its getting real. You are doing this for YOU.

    Breaking Up...

I had a negative band experience 5 years ago and now am looking at bariatric surgery again. Not sure which one

    I give up (updates)

Nancy: Only you can make this decision. I am waitlisted for bariatric surgery. I had a previous failed lapband removed 4 yrs ago. It slipped despite me following everything as directed I am nervous now about choosing either the sleeve or gastric bypass due to the previous failure. I don't want to spend months throwing up like last time. My weight is my nemesis. I have achieved all my life goals except for this one. Change is HARD, SCARY, and it is easier to stay the same. You need to believe in yourself, look at why you made the decision to have surgery in the first place and commit to making changes. food will always be there, how you deal with it is up to you.

    Advice?

I was banded Nov 5/08, 6 weeks later I had port revision as it flipped and they put in 4 cc. Then I went back 2 times and ended up with complete unfill cause I couldnt keep water down. I have been PB frequently since banding and PB at least daily. No matter what I eat, how slow or how little, the PB continues. I have lost 23 lbs to date and am going for an ERG on tuesday. Any ideas-slippage, pouch problems? I am so frustrated.

    Stomach Size:

I had major complications in the past 8 months, port revision, total unfill and then slippage and taken out July 8. How long does it take for my stomach to return to normal? I am afraid to eat since I have been barfing for 8 months. I lost 30 lbs and want to keep it off. May look into weight watchers.

I am officially unbanded as of today and can put this negative experience behind me. I may join weight watchers now once I am better.
  12. I am officially unbanded thankfully. I can start to put the 8 month nightmare behind me. Good luck to everyone else and there will be no rebanding.
  13. I get unbanded in the morning thankfully-want my life back. I have lost 30 lbs and will do the rest on my own. All I eat is soup and ensure and it's boring after a while. No more throwing up for me.

He is looking into it. Said no point in repositioning due to high chance of reslippage.

I am getting unbanded July 8 thankfully. I am able to keep down liquids and soft foods-soup, boost etc so Im fine that way. I just hate that I wasted so much money for it to fail.
  16. The band never worked. I lost weight because I threw up for months. I cannot wait to get it out.

    I meant July 8 or 15.
  18. I am getting my band removed Jan 8 or 15. I can't wait to get my life back. I cannot eat hardly anything without PBing. Normally I have a meal replacement for breakfast, soup (liquid) for lunch and ice cream occasionally in the evenings. I try eating solids but usually throw them up. This has been a nightmare from the beginning. Plus 14 grand wasted. Oh well-better luck with dieting.

    pbing to much?

PB alot is not normal. I kept making excuses for all my PB. I have a slipped band and see my surgeon this fri to discuss removal or fix options. I cannot eat anything besides sopu without PB.

I see my surgeon this fri and should have an answer by then. I throw up 99 percent of what I eat unless it's soup or ice cream. Need to be able to eat food again.

    Port replacement was easy.

I followed the post op diet to the letter. It's just one of those things. I read about the complications before hand but no one expects to have them all happen to them.
