Old Band out -- New Realize Band In
rockbandster replied to alicat3924's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am happy for bassriley's incredible success with the Realize Band and in no way and insinuating anyone lacks intelligence. I am sorry you interpret sharing online clinical results that way. On the contrary "Band together" is from this: Country Bands Together - Homepage Last time I checked moderators were supposed to remain unbiased. You are practically organizing a witch hunt. -
Old Band out -- New Realize Band In
rockbandster replied to alicat3924's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
None of these studies are direct comparisons, I never stated that in any thread- I am merely presenting data in order to help people make a decision. I am sorry you are all taking this the wrong way and don't appreciate the data I have found online. I have spent many hours researching Weight loss Surgery because I care about people and want them to be in the know. I assumed people would want to know as much as they can before deciding on surgery. There no point in sharing this information if you're going to spit it back my face. I don't recall directly speaking on behalf of any surgeon - If you can find a thread where I stated im speaking on behalf of a surgeon please let me know. That is not the case and I would never assume that role. My opinions are my strictly my opinions. PERIOD. They are not that of any surgeon so I don't understand where that's coming from. If you want to bother your surgeon about this nonsense be my guest. I don't care what devices any surgeon uses or what surgery you have or don't have. I care about people looking at this website and being supported with the right information to make an informed choice weather or not to have this surgery or another WLS. All of us should be trying to help those considering surgery make the right choice - this is not about us anymore, we had one surgery or another -its the about the person who is scared, hopeless and looking for help. Those of us who had success with the band, Bypass or Sleeve should contribute and help them. I would really like it if we can all "band" together and try to help someone who can use a hand. -
Old Band out -- New Realize Band In
rockbandster replied to alicat3924's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You people keep thinking of yourselves...this information is for people considering surgery to know the differences between the products so they can make an informed choice. Instead of being pissed at me reporting information, why don't you try supporting someone considering this life-altering surgery and help them get educated so they can make the right choice. This is a support site remember.?..don't blame me, I don't do the studies,I am just telling you what the results are. Most intelligent people would like to know what is currently going on before having surgery. -
Old Band out -- New Realize Band In
rockbandster replied to alicat3924's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Also, you should change the name of this thread from "old band out,new band in" to "Old band out, Older band in"; The Realize Band IS the Swedish Band made by Obtech in Europe from 1996 in a new box with a new name. J&J bought them for 150 million and changed the name of the product and decided to dupe people into thinking it's a brand new device. -
Old Band out -- New Realize Band In

ok so anyone who finds an error, other than an accidental typo, please provide some data and prove me wrong. The latest Lapband AP data released this week is from a Landmark trial including 50 different sites with 500 patients: The results were 34% Excess weight loss at 6 months and 50% Excess weight loss at 11 months The Realize Band is 43% at 3 years Unless someone has some proof they are the same thing it might be a good idea to stop writing that on here. Its like saying a BMW is the same as a Kia because they are both cars. It's just not true. In addition ,the new LapBand Website completely leaves Realizemysuccess in the dust. -
What is the max fill in a 9cc realize band
rockbandster replied to noosagirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
There is no such thing as "every doctor has different limits" The FDA guidelines for all gastric bands are there for a reason. The band instructions specifically states several times NOT to fill it past 9cc's or it can break. Posting something like that can be very dangerous and should not be rationalized. The max fill is 9cc's. PERIOD. If it breaks and was filled past 9cc's your insurance company reserves the right not to replace it as it was not used within FDA guidelines. The Surgeon can practice medicine as he sees fit however your insurance company will always look for an out not to pay. I understand your frustration but to protect yourself, get it in writing from the surgeon and your insurance company that if the band is filled past the FDA guidelines if it breaks your surgery will be covered under a revision. This way your at least covered. If you have no restriction now imagine if leaks all the Fluid out! -
How Many cc's in your band and how is
rockbandster replied to speck's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It normally takes longer for the Realize Band to give restriction due to: a) it's shape :scared2: unlike the Lapband AP is has to be implanted empty _ The Lapband AP, the first fill is put in at the time of Surgery so they get a head start so to speak. The weight loss the first year with the Realize Band in clinical trials has been been shown to be a little slower, around 30 or so %. Don't worry and hang on there, it will take, it just takes a little longer with the Realize for most patients. Their are some patients who never get a fill and do amazing but its a small subset. Don't lose the faith, you'll be fine once you hit the sweet spot. Remember, you'll have this band for life, it's not a race! -
yes, that is what I meant...and of course restriction is a given

How Many cc's in your band and how is
rockbandster replied to speck's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
That is true...smaller fills are better..don't get hung up on the number. Also please all be aware there are no 10cc Realize Bands they are 9cc and do not overfill them. You are seriously running the risk of a crease fold failure and the band cracking of you overfill them. That was the reason the older lapbands were smaller, so they would never crease. The Band sizes are as follows: Realize Band (Swedish Band) 9cc Realize Band -C (Swedish Band VC) 11cc LapBand APS 10cc LapBand APL 14cc Please keep in mind the texture and pressure (soft and low pressure) is 100% completely irrelevant because: a) Once the balloon has saline in it is no longer soft anymore. :tt2: The pressure system inside the band is closed..in other words the pressure on the inside of the has nothing to do the outside of the band. c) The reason for low pressure systems is purely for more precise adjustments D) The Stomach is a flexible, hollow organ..it can't get damaged from pressure because there is nothing behind it to cause any damage -
There really are no magic tricks to this....if the band is not positioned properly and not hitting the nerves on your stomach you won't be hungry and won't want to eat. You must however be committed to the lifestyle changes or neither band will do anything.

People should not choose an implant because of the website the company has. That should not even be in condsideration when choosing an implant. They could shut the website down tomorrow, but your implant is for life. You cannot feel either band once its inside you. Congrats on your weight loss- you're off to a great start! 10 pounds in a month is awesome! Keep it up!!!

I didn't "realize"we were in a contest together, but Im at my goal weight, and your insane and clearly are misguided. IM just going to ignore you
-
I have seen quite a few placed... The point I am making is according to the post the doctor "just put in 7" so there would be no logical way for him to say its less or more than anything else because there hasnt been enough time for him or her to make a fair comparison. Im not trying to make people feel stupid. I just want people to be aware of all the facts before making a decision. It doesn't seem like all the docs are stating the all the facts and that's not fair for someone who doesn't know and is putting their trust in their doctor. We need to help the people considering surgery decide whats right for them, weather its the lapband or the realize band patients are entitled to know the whole story and not be used a guinea pigs. You look awesome by the way..congrats on yourweight loss

Both the lapband and realize band although sometimes placed differently both cause some pain since they are basically drilling this thing onto your muscle. The shoulder pain is from the Co2 used during the procedure. Pockets of Co2 climb up there and cause some pain, sometimes it takes a while for it to go away. Port pain should subside after 3 or 4 days. If not you may have an infection - you should absolutley get that checked to be sure.
-
well id be out of a job since I work with hundreds of band patients a month in addition to just reaching 100% EWL if I didn't know what I was doing. Again, please look through my posts and find a scientific claim you say is bullshit and prove me wrong.
-
I absolutely in no way want the poster to feel band. I do however want the people considering surgery to be aware if that happens and to question why. Again it's your body - YOU DECIDE WHAT GETS IMPLANTED IN IT _ NOT SOMEONE ELSE You can't sue anyone once you sign the release form.
-
I think you need your band loosened...you seem a little wound up and angry for some reason at someone trying to help others
-
Ill take that bet I dare you to challenge me on any band information I posted in any thread. I forgot more about Gastric Bands than you and your partner who seems to be an authority on gastric bands but doesn't have one will ever know.
-
yeah ok...you expect me to post my personal information on some website where anyone can see it? If that's the case Im full of shit-- you're right. sad to say but some of you will be eating your words one day. - I do hope none of you get a crease fold failure - but if you do, I hate to say I told you so.

Realize Band-C (Second Generation)
rockbandster replied to downsdc's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
all good bro...Ive been through the surgery, it was not walk in the park for me..just want to make sure people know the real deal and not to get caught up in marketing and certainly do not believe everything your doctor tells you. Many have alterior motives. -
the stomach is soft, stretches, contracts and dialates - the tube he put it on does not. The creases occur at about 9cc's and he only put in 6cc's. Please remember, if in the unlikely although possible event of a crease fold failure- your going to have to go in another surgery - there are risks associated with that. It sounds like you just want to be right and justify your decision regardless of what anyone says, which is fine. But you're going to be really sorry if you have to go in for surgery again. I had the option of either band too. But I can tell you that I had a lot of post op pain and theres not a snowballs chance in hell im going through that again if I dont have to. Even a 1% chance of a crease fold failure was too much for me. Even if both bands had equal EWL which hasnt been documented it doesn't make sense to me. But hey different strokes for different folks. Good luck on your journey!

Realize Band-C (Second Generation)
rockbandster replied to downsdc's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
dude its your body..as long as you are aware of the risks...that's the only point Im trying to make. You should be aware..The pharmaceutical companies have to disclose everything, the med device companies should as well -
a) im not responding to your post because I don't feel asking me to post my personal information on a public internet forum is appropriate. I am posting on here to educate people considering a gastric band to due their homework and not to believe everything you hear or read. Why I am constantly getting attacked for trying to help people I don't know. And if you threaten me again I will report you to the admnstrators. Usually people are happy when the get information they didnt have or didnt have access to. I also don't understand why people are taking advice from someone who doesn't even have a gastic band and hits the refrigertator 20 times a day. Please see the creases in the Swedish Band VC- aka the Realize band C Shutterfly

The lapband ports do not puncture...that's a ridiculous statement and theres no way any surgeon in the world can make a statement on a product after using it 7 times as compared to hundreds of lapbands. A note for all future banders considering surgery....DO NOT LET YOUR SURGEON SWITCH BANDS ON YOU AT THE LAST MINUTE!! ITS GOING IN YOUR BODY, NOT HIS OR HERS. YOU MAKE THAT DECISION. Please keep in mind J&J requires doctors to use a certain number of bands on their website, I hate to say this but there are many surgeons across the country who are switching patients who planned on the lapband to the Realize band and making up some bullshit excuse as to why he or she wants to switch when the real reason is so they get on the website. Remeber its health for you, business for the surgeon. Again DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH AND MAKE YOUR OWN DECISION - DO NOT LET SOMEONE ELSE DECIDE WHAT GOES IN YOUR BODY
