Glad to hear you are feeling better,,,, I know what you mean about the pain from sneezing... it is the worst...
-
Good luck to you Stokesmommy... I am sure it will work out... btw where are the seminars held... and do they have support group meetings...
-
Hope you feeling better real soon. I totally understand avoiding the scale until all the fluids leave. I remember after the surgery I ended up weighing more then when I first went in and I was really really upset about that. I don't recall the dr at that time telling me that would happen..

Just checking in and seeing how everyone is doing. Waiting to hear from the dr regarding blood tests and should be going back in about a month to follow up and see how I am doing. I refuse to get on a scale until then. Again hoping that all is going well. I do feel the difference since the 1/2 cc fill so I guess that is a good thing.

I have my fingers, toes and eyes crossed that I get back on the wagon...

Met with Dr. John Vonkersburg... he was great... his office staff were very friendly and I was so pleased. He was friendly and informative. I got a fill and so far I am doing really well. I have been logging all my food on the livestrong websit and following a great diet. I feel good about myself again for getting back on track. Thank you so much for asking.

I think I found a doctor... forgot his name but he is located close to TMC.. on Erickson street. I have an appointment on tueday next week... fingers crossed that this works out and I can get back on track...

Hi, Like I stated before I had my band since 2008... at one time my weight loss was about 180 pounds but now that has since changed... I gained some back but that is because I had an ulcer and had to have fluid removed. The ulcer has since gotten better but I was not very pleased with the doctor ... I think his name was swartz... I was hoping to find a another dr in tucson that can help me get back on track.

I have been there and done that many times... I started this at 384 went down to 200 and I am not 221.... this is not an easy thing to do band or no band... Just make sure you follow up with your dr and get fills when needed... I had been lax on the fills and follow ups and paid the price.

Hi, I had my band since 2008 and had the surgery in New York... so I am hoping to find people in Tucson that may have a support group to continue with. Also looking for a good dr to take my case for fills.

Hi All, It took me 2 years. My primary doctor suggested it to me but at that time I thought it was too drastic of a thing to do... Now I regret that I waited. To think I could have lost so much weight by now... it is mind boggling. I love my band. Got weighed today and I lost 7.5 which makes my total since August 08 69 pounds.... I LOVE MY BAND!!!!!
-
Hi All, I live in Seaford and there is a support group meeting every 2nd Tuesday at Mercy Hospital. But any additional support would be great. Had my weigh in today and lost another 7.5. This band thing has been the greatest thing I have ever done for myself. All the best to everyone.

Hi Everyone!!! My surgery date was the 18th of August... and so far I have lost 52 pounds. I started at 388 and now weigh 336. So far I have not had any fills. My Dr. feels I am doing well without if for now... Clothes have been a problem but I manage with lots of tie waist pants... I have gotten a new pair of jeans and I am happy to say I went from a 32 down to a 24 and the 24's are getting a little big... YEAH!!!! My first goal is to hit under 300.. I am so looking forward to seeing my weight starting with a number 2 instead of 3... Here is to all of the August All Stars... Way To Go!!!!!:w00t: All the best, Jo Ann

I have only had my band for 5 weeks and I am totally in love... of course the only thing I do regret is that I did not do this sooner. -
Hi Long Islanders.... Had my 5 week follow up since my surgery on the 18th of June. Dr. Holover stated that he was very pleased with the results so far and that I will not need a fill at this time...:girl_hug: and I get to change to stage 3 diet... So happy with the results myself and cant wait till my next visit with Dr. Holover. Good Luck to all. Jo Ann

Amy, I have never had a problem with Dr. Holover or with his office... If anything they have been extremely supportive and helpful.. I would have to say that the only problem I have had is that there is a long wait when you have an appointment but in long run it is totally worth it. Oh just so you know... Anne at Mercy hospital is wonderful. She is the head of the bariatrics there. Have you attended any of the support group meetings that are run by Dr. Holover and Dr. Garber? They are the 2nd Tuesday of every month and are very informative. Sometimes wish they were more often. Hope this helped... Jo Ann:thumbup: -

Hi Amy, Happy to say that it is now 1 month and 1 week since I had my surgery and I am doing great... I don't know how much I have lost yet, I am waiting for my next appointment with Dr. Holover on the 24th of this month. I know I lost, I can feel it and people have said it. Keep me informed and all the best. Jo Ann:thumbup: -
Hi to all the Long Island banders!!!! I had my surgery on the 18th of August and at that time I had Oxford Health Insurance... My insurance will be changing in November to GHI and I know that my current Dr does not take GHI... I was wondering if any of you know if your doctors take GHI so I can follow up with them for my future fills??? Thanks for any information! Jo Ann

Hi, I had my band put in on the 18th of August and I still have a problem laying on my sides... I get sharp pain on my right side like I had been running a long distance. I will be going back to the dr on the 24th of september and cant wait to see how much I have lost...

I had my surgery on the 18th of August and was put right on to mushy the day after the surgery. I was not allowed out of the hospital until they were sure I could handle 2 mushy meals... I have been on mushy to soft since and will return to the surgeon on the 24th for my first fill ... maybe???? :lovechoc: If he feels I am losing sufficently as is he will leave it as is and add regular food. I have not been weighed since the 27th of August and I am trying to wait until my next visit with dr.... I hope I lost???? Good Luck to all Jo Ann

Hi all Was just wondering where you get the WLS card to present to restaurants???? Jo Ann -
Hi All, I was banded on the 18th of August by Dr. Spencer Holover & Dr. Shawn Garber... I was informed they work together on all surgeries. So far I am doing ok... had my first "pb" yesterday... OH YUCK!! but I know it was my fault for not chewing well. One week after the surgery I lost 5 lbs. My next appointment with my Dr. is on the 24th of this month.... so I have no clue if I lost anything since. I just wanted to suggest to anyone who is just starting out that the Livestrong.com website has been a great help with keeping track of intake of food and liquids... Still having a hard time with the 64oz of liquid a day.. sometimes feel like I am drowning. Also Mercy Medical Center has a support group every 2nd tuesday of the month. They are very helpful!!! Jo Ann

I also had my surgery on the 18th of August.... and I am happy to say I am feeling great! Good Luck and keep in touch.. Jo Ann

Going for my first pre op appointment today... wish me luck.. So being a week out now Kimberly... how you feeling? Hope your doing well. I am doing great. Actually surprised how fast things seemed to feel better. I did not have to be on liquid diet after the surgery... went straight to mushy.. even was not released from the hospital until they knew i could tolerate it. The 64oz of fluids a day is a reall pain... sometimes feel like I am drowning... but I get it done... And it is also sometimes hard to get the Protein in... I was told 45-60 grams a day. Wish you all the best- Jo Ann:smile2:
