This waiting game is no fun
Luna Girl replied to lizonaplane's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hang in there! And maybe call them and let them know you will take any cancellation spot that comes available and you can be ready within 24hrs [if that is doable for you]...If they sense your dedication, maybe get you scheduled quicker? It will happen! 😊 -
April 6 Surgery - STALLED!!!
Luna Girl replied to cre8tivetara's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I think our bodies have "set points" or different weights our body wants to be. I think I had/have five "set points". I stayed on my first one for two weeks, my second set point (stall) lasted a week and I just broke thru and lost 3 pounds in two days. Set points are hard to break thru but with our wls tool, it is much easier than before. Good Luck! https://www.prevention.com/weight-loss/a20455278/how-to-shift-your-set-point-weight/ -

When/How to buy new clothes
Luna Girl replied to lizonaplane's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have started to take my clothes that are too big to my local women's shelter. And will start to buy at consignment. All about recycling! 😊 -
I have zero hunger or desire for food since my surgery on April 19th. For dinner tonight, my son pan seared two filets with butter and garlic for his Dad and himself with roasted asparagus [my favorite meal] and it smelled amazing, but I had no desire for any of it. My husband said he was sorry I couldn't eat any of the filet yet and I told him it wasn't bothering me at all! I do hope I will enjoy food again in the future [in smaller quantities]...but right now, if I didn't need it to survive, I wouldn't eat.

What is your 1st major milestone?
Luna Girl replied to Luna Girl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
So, I have finally reached my next milestone! I have lost 42 pounds and have 40 more pounds to reach my goal. It took a little over two weeks to lose those 4lbs..slow and steady!! Next milestone is to hit 150lbs. It may take me all summer, but I will get there! 😊 -

Approval with a BMI of 32?
Luna Girl replied to Sarahgirl10's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My BMI was 36.7 and my insurance covered it. I did have high bp and high cholesterol though. I was actually surprised insurance covered. I made the decision to have the surgery and was going to be self pay. The drs office insurance coordinator said they would submit to my insurance with the letter from my pcp who recommended the surgery based on family history. One week later, I was approved. It does not hurt to submit to insurance to see if they will cover. You never know. And if your pcp submits a recommendation, that may help. Good Luck! -

Mini milestones are the building blocks for the major milestones! 😊 -
How long from when you started the process to surgery?
Luna Girl replied to BeaUTAHful's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Mine was a little over 5wks from 1st drs appt to surgery date. This included insurance approval [my insurance did not require mandatory classes, weigh in's]. But, I did reach out each wk to the coordinator and ask about status of my case and ask if there was a cancellation, I would like to take the spot. Luckily, there was a cancellation and I happened to be in their office that day and they asked if I would be available the following week for surgery. Be your own advocate! If you know who the center's director is, reach out. Squeaky wheel and all that. Let them know you are serious and are motivated. Good Luck! 😊 -
What is your 1st major milestone?

Love all of these...especially #4! lol...didn't think of that one...will do shortly! 😊 -
I use the patches because I get really nauseous from vitamins. Did before surgery, now it is worse, so my dr said to do the patches. Have recently had blood work and all my levels are good/improved except my iron is a bit low. I would check with your dr. Here is a picture of what I use. I order directly from their website.

Luna Girl replied to KidaandRoux's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I did that this weekend! I pulled out a pair of favorite pants that I have not been able to wear in over 5 yrs! Fit perfectly!! Even my husband commented that he hadn't seen those in a while! 😊 -
No matter if taken after meals, vitamins make me NAUSEATED!
Luna Girl replied to SBFARRIS's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't really had constipation but not sure it has anything to do with the patch, even though that makes sense. My dr had me do a colon cleanse, similar to what you do for colonoscopy, day before surgery. So, I really didn't have a bm until a couple of wks after surgery. And now, I'm eating vegs, so I have been pretty regular. But maybe the combination, the colon prep and using the patch has helped me avoid any serious bm issues. -

Luna Girl replied to SBFARRIS's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My dr recommended the patch because I was having trouble with the pills. Maybe the thinking is something is better than nothing at this point. 🤷♀️Might try again in a few months. May still have an issue due to prior history before surgery. -
Congratulations! So happy for you!
