Dr. Bryce Schuster - Dr. Schuster
KristieT replied to Louisville Lesa's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
What a terrific Christmas present! I also adore Dr. Schuster. He's very encouraging and even when I don't feel like I've done very well, I never dread having an appointment with him. I got the band in June of 2008 and I've lost right around 70 lbs. -

I have BCBS Federal and live in Kentucky. I was approved and had my band one week ago. It was a quick process. I didn't have to do a diet before either. Of course, my BMI was over 40 so that may be why. -

The OP is the one who turned me on to this wonderful site and to the lap band as well. Thank you, Jill! -
I had my band on June 24th (one week ago) by Dr. Schuster! So far, so good!

It's been one week since my surgery. I'm glad it's over because I was so nervous. So far, the only problem I've had is the pain on Sunday/Monday (doctor saw me and it was just some irritation in the muscle) and also constipation. (I finally just went a few minutes ago....OMG, thank goodness!) When I had my pre-op I was weighing in at 273 and my BMI was a whopping 43. When I weighed at the doctor Monday, I was 264. On my scale last night, I was 264 as well so I guess I'll trust my home scale enough for my weekly weight log. Anyway, I'm excited! I'm on soft foods and I'm really glad because the liquid only diet was kind of scary because I was hungry a lot. I was wondering if the band would really help me. Now, after having soft foods for a couple days I am confident that very small amounts of food will make me full. I will have to get used to not drinking with my food though when I start solids in a couple weeks. That will be the real challenge. I know I can do it though. Yay for medical science!

I'm so glad I'm not the only one. I had my surgery one week ago. I quit taking my benefiber for a couple days because I thought I would be fine. Well, not so much. Three days I have been straining with no defecation. It was getting stuck! (Sorry to be so graphic) Anyway, for a couple days I've been taking stool softener and the benefiber 3 times a day, but finally this evening had to use a suppository. It was a struggle, but I finally went. I will never forget taking my benefiber after that experience.

Lap Band Surgery Day Stories
KristieT replied to pennyt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on the 24th. It went pretty smooth, but only thing I had for pain was Aleve. Each day is getting better. Way to go, all!
