I had the VSG on 18/8 and had to do injections for 10 days. My hospital roommate had a gastric bypass and she had to do 30 days of injections, so it also varies per surgery. Good luck on your recovery!

How much liquids is actually enough?
muffin.x replied to Hiccup's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Try to drink more. Make it your fulltime job to be constantly sipping. The first day I could only drink about 600 ml, but everyday I could drink about 300 more. I didn’t try to eat or get my protein in the first few days. Liquid is far more important the first few days. You don’t want to end up dehydrated back in the hospital. Also I noticed that things like homemade broth went down super smooth. So maybe try that, or some tea? When I could reach 1200 ml, I started adding protein shakes (for me this was day 5 I think). About 1 week post op I noticed I could take larger sips and that made getting my fluids and my protein in a lot easier. Nowadays (3 weeks post op) I aim for 1,5 to 2 liters a day. Good luck! -
WHERE ARE MY AUGUST 2021 PEEPS?
muffin.x replied to phenomenally_me's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I’m using an app called EatWise to remind me to eat my meals. I set it to 6 meals a day and it gives me a 30 minutes heads up before the next meal, so I know when to stop drinking. Very useful if you tend to forget to eat. Otherwise everything is going fine. 16 says post op now. I can drink a lot more water now. Don’t have to take tiny sips anymore, so it’s a lot easier to get my fluids in. I made a mackerel salad yesterday (just smoked mackerel with some light Mayo and salt/pepper puréed). It was very good! I ate about 1.5oz. So glad to eat some real food again. Can’t wait to try vegetables again in a few weeks. I like having something to look forward to between the dreadful protein shakes lol. -

First day of the puréed stage today. Made the famous ricotta bake and it was soooo good! So glad to be eating something again! -
What fears did you have?
muffin.x replied to hauntedhideaway's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am two days post up right now and did everything myself. They don't offer the surgery to patients with a BMI under 40 in my country, so I had to go to a different country (which is still only about 4 hours away). We have a very sick large dog that can't stay home alone, so that's why my BF wasn't able to come. I had surgery in the morning and then slept almost the entire day, so I didn't really mind being alone. It would have been nice having someone there the next day, helping me pack my bags and put my shoes and socks on lol. I also took public transportation home by myself and it was fine, but someone picking you up is definitely a lot better. Right now I'm most afraid of getting dehydrated. Getting your fluids in is a lot harder than I imagined. -
WHERE ARE MY AUGUST 2021 PEEPS?

Had my VSG on wednesday morning en was able to leave the next morning. Everything went well, although I'm having some nausea and gas pains. Hopefully that will go away soon. Trying to get my fluids in, but it's a lot harder than expected. Also haven't eaten anything yet. When was the first time you ate something? They told me fluids are more important, so I'm focussing on that now. Might try some broth or protein water tomorrow. The idea of a sweet protein shake alone makes me nauseas right now. -

Husband refuses to drop me off or pick me up from the hospital. Now what?
muffin.x replied to DoodlesMom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I’m having the surgery on Wednesday. Should be able to leave the hospital on Thursday. My BF isn’t able to come get me either. I plan on taking a taxi or the train, depending on how I’m feeling. They never mentioned anything about someone having to be there to pick me up. Getting kinda worried now reading the comments. If it’s a requirement, they should have mentioned it imo. -
What are you looking forward to ?
muffin.x replied to lizonaplane's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Honestly, after having a horrible experience at work, I am looking forward the most to not having to worry whether I’ll fit in the largest size of work clothing available. Not being able to fit in something, whether it’s clothes, amusement park rides or an airplane seat is one of the most embarrassing feelings in the world in my opinion. 😞 -
WHERE ARE MY AUGUST 2021 PEEPS?

I can’t wait till I have the surgery. So ready to start my new life. Had a horrible experience at work today. Had to put on a lab coat and overalls and they didn’t fit properly. Could barely move in them. Felt so embarrassed. Had the same thing a few weeks ago when trying the new uniform. They didn’t have my size so I had to try men’s sizes. So embarrassing and it looked horrible. I am so ready to never feel this way again. I just finished week one of the pre-op diet my surgeon gave me. Just one more week. By this time next week I’ll be done. Can’t wait. 🤞🏻 -
I’m having mine done on august 18th. Who is your surgeon?

WHERE ARE MY AUGUST 2021 PEEPS?
muffin.x replied to phenomenally_me's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm the 18th as well! I'm very excited but also a bit nervous. Still going back and forth wether this is the right choice for me. I know I'll probably never lose the weight without the surgery, but I'm afraid I'll fall back into old habits after having the surgery. Is anybody else having these doubt/concerns? -
Congrats! I'm getting sleeved by Dr. Dillemans in Belgium as well. Having my surgery on August 18th. How did you feel the next day? I'm doubting whether to take a cab home on the 19th (3 hour drive to the Netherlands) or take public transportation (about 4 hours, but have to do some walking when switching trains). Thinking the cab is probably the best option, but it's about a 300 euro price difference. 😅
