I’m scheduled for 4/8. Would love a support buddy going through pre-op liquid diet and surgery around the same time for support :)

Hey everyone how are you all doing? @KidaandRoux how are you feeling? @GingersnapMI I’m sorry to hear about your surgery being cancelled! I hope they reschedule soon once the Covid cases clear 🙏🏻🙏🏻 Stay strong. I know how frustrated you must feel!! I’m 9 days Post Op now and about to start the purée stage tomorrow. My stomach and I are very ready for it lol trying to decide what my first food in 4 weeks will be! I’m a little surprised at how easy it was for me to get fluids and supplements down since surgery when I hear most have nausea and vomiting issues. I almost wish I did because I don’t want it to be too easy to overdo it and fall back into the same routine of overeating once I start foods. I’m going to have to be very strict with myself and measuring out portions. I’m down 11 pounds since surgery and 28 total since the start of the pre-op liquid diet. Hydration has been my focus so I downloaded this app called WaterMinder. I set a reminder every 5 min and it goes to my Apple Watch reminding me to take a sip of water. Really helpful for someone like me who forgets to drink when I’m focused on other tasks. It’s been helping me reach my 48-64 oz daily goal. Hope you’re all doing well! Please feel free to share any tips and tricks that have been working for you! Good luck to all whose surgeries are coming up and are starting their pre-op diets!

Hope soon!! They recommended 1 oz. every 15 min. It’s harder than I thought it would be! My stomach literally says NO, which is great because my problem was always eating too fast.
-
I’m home, still trying to adjust to the fact that 2- 3 sips of anything makes me full. Still bloated and have abdominal discomfort, but it was easier to get out of bed today. Thankfully no nausea or vomiting.
-
Oh no! I hope you feel better soon so you can go home 🙏🏻

How are you feeling? I’m waiting to be discharged.

@kidaandroux I have to be there at 7:30am. Good luck!!!

Surgery tomorrow! So nervous/excited to begin this journey.

@ranger1269 I know all of the appts have been so overwhelming, we are almost there! I would confirm the pre-op liquid diet plan with your doctors office. Did you have to see a nutritionist? I know every plan is different, but mine has me doing 6 protein shakes a day. I couldn’t imagine getting through this on only one per day 😱
-
Yes! We’ve got this!! 💪🏻 The time is actually flying. I have to pick up some of the protein water to try. Day 6/21 of liquids today and proud of myself for sticking to it.

Nice! Maybe we could do a group chat or a fb group so we can support each other along the way! Not sure if we can do that on this forum, I’m new to it so I don’t know all of the features. Are you excited? Just over 2 weeks to go :)
-
How are you feeling? I’m wondering about that as well. I’ve read some people sneeze or hiccup when they are full.

It’s going! Lol Day 4 down. It’s mentally challenging more than anything. With all of the protein shakes I can’t say I’m overly hungry or anything but I do miss chewing. Jello and chewing ice pops have been helping a little with that. Today was a little challenging because I cooked dinner for my family. The first 3 days my husband took over and I avoided being in the room with them while they ate lol I was getting a little sick of the premier protein shakes after 3 days so I switched it up today and had the fairlife shakes. They’re really good! Also liking Gatorade Zero. 17 days to go!

I just had some broth for lunch! It was weird at first but not too bad lol. I bought organic chicken stock from Costco and added just a little of Better than Bouillon to it and it made it very palatable! I heard about the ricotta bake on one of the FB groups. It’s basically just ricotta cheese and sauce. Sounds good! Here’s a link to a recipe: https://bariatricbits.com/single-serve-baked-ricotta/ I have to do 3 weeks of chewable or liquid vitamins after surgery. No gummies. I got most of them on Amazon. Flinstones multivitamin, bluebonnet chewable calcium & d3. And Kirkland dissolvable b12.

It’ll be here before you know it! :)

I was originally going to do the sleeve but I was recently diagnosed with Acid Reflux so my surgeon suggested the bypass to avoid any issues with it down the road. I’m both really excited and nervous! Liquid diet consists of 100 oz. of water, protein shakes, broth, sugar free popsicles/jello, sugar free beverages and 2 cups of green non starchy veggies each day. Going to try to keep myself as busy as possible, 3 weeks of this sounds so daunting lol I haven’t really stocked up for post surgery yet because I hear your taste can change. I bought genepro flavorless protein power and chewable vitamins to be prepared. Going to try the same things for the week of liquid post op and then for purées I’ll Introduce a new food at a time to see how I do. Hoping I can do Greek yogurt, ricotta bake, tuna salad, chicken salad, cottage cheese, cream of chicken soup. So far I’m liking the premier protein shakes!

Congrats! I’ll be going for surgery next month too, on 4/8.

Surgery twins! I’m having RNY bypass, how about you? Today is day 1 of my 3 week pre-op liquid diet.
