I'm new to weight loss surgery, though I've contemplated it for years. My doctor recommended it ten years ago, but I was sure I could do it on my own if I just had the will power. I started, then stopped numerous weight loss programs, some medically supervised only to gain the weight back when I was depressed, or stressed, or for umpteen reasons. Throughout 2020, while living like a recluse and working from home, I soothed my anxiety about the pandemic by eating. I entertained myself with cooking and baking... and eating, and I gained forty pounds on top of the 100 extra I was already carrying. I'm 62 years old, and I want to live to watch my grandchildren grow up. I had been following some friends who had weight loss surgery and watched as they succeeded in getting fit and feeling better and I decided it is time to do it for myself. So, I spent the past two months getting all the details worked out, scheduling surgery and today I started my pre-op diet. I'm ready for this! I'm ready to take responsibility for my body, my choices and my life.
