  1. Well it’s artificial sweeteners if that’s what you mean but I don’t mind them. My best advice is to go to convenience stores and try the ones they have so you can buy just one of a few flavors to try.

    1 month post op activities

Our bodies all recover differently. Best advice I can give is to give in and rest and take naps as needed. Your body recovers while you sleep so the more you do it now when your body is calling out for it the quicker you will recover in the long run. As far as food for energy, you may or may not be able to talk them into letting you bring in a protein shake but when you get a little further out you can usually sneak in a beef Jerky or a protein bar for longer outings where you truly can’t find a healthy option. Post surgery I ALwAYS have a cooler in my car packed full of healthy options I can run back to even if I don’t expect to be out all day. If I leave the house, I’m ready for hours with my Yeti packed just in case. And I always bring my favorite salad dressing and my sugar free bbq sauce with me so if I have to do fast food I don’t have to use their high calorie sauces. I find several healthy options at Chick-fil-A. Any of their Salads with grilled chicken or grilled nugget kids meal with fresh fruit.
  3. I hated the sweetness of All the shakes immediately post surgery. I was able to drink the premiere protein clear.

    Waiting in San Diego

Oh no. Do you have a number to call??
  5. It’s trial and error really. Certain brands upset certain people. For some people it’s the iron. The one thing that seems to really help os taking with food or a shake. But wait till after your done eating and like the last couple of sips of the shake. You want the whole thing coating your stomach before you take it.
  6. From what I have heard nothing really helps with the loss. What happens is the cycle is sped up and you just shed the hair faster than normal. Most of those products will make the new hair growing in nice and healthy and thick but they won’t make slow the shedding or speed up the growth. Some people get a cute shorter cut to try distract from the issue.
  7. Some people who are really struggling on their all liquid diets call and get permission from their team to have a small meal of lean meat and non starchy veggies each day.
  8. Just remember the more you shrink the liver down the safer the surgery is. Have people cheated and their surgery went on, yes. But just because you can get away with it doesn’t mean you should. I had very little pain post op and after multiple comments were made about how well I did on the pre op diet I asked the NP if that’s why I had low pain and she said it certainly is a factor since a smaller liver is much easier to operate around so less manipulation means less pain. A slip is a slip and it probably won’t cancel your surgery or anything but do your best from now on to put yourself in the safest place for your surgery and set yourself up for the easiest recovery possible.

    Joint pain and dehydration

Is your urine dark? That’s the most common sign but I am not certain if that’s always present or not. If I were you I’d put a call into the dr.

    time to go clothes shopping

Awesome. You should keep the biggest belt to see Your progress when you get to goal.
  11. It sounds like he is going to say it’s medically necessary outside of your weight. In that case I think it’s even easier for the doctor to get it approved. Fingers crossed for ya.

Day 11 PO and so tired

Yea I was very lucky to not have much pain post op but I was tired a lot. Constantly napping I just gave in to it. I would set my alarm to get up and walk or drink and just binge watched shows I have already seen cause I kept falling asleep.
  13. Well it’s not much help but they do have prescription patches that they had me wear at the hospital for nausea. They go behind your ear and they had me put it on before surgery. Perhaps the dr can prescribe them if the pills aren’t working (it’s sounds like he may be vomiting it up before it has a chance to absorb). The only problem may be that they take a while to kick in but if the pills aren’t working at all maybe waiting a couple hours for relief won’t be that bad. At least he will get some relief. To answer your question about the patches. The prescription ones at least must work because I had zero nausea post surgery and I have had 3 other surgeries and woke up nauseous every time.

    Food Before and After Photos

I’m sure yours were better but I was looking to cut calories and I asked the waitress at my local bbq place if they could make ribs with sugar free sauce if I requested it ahead or something. She suggested getting them dry and using my own sauce so I did what they call “dry” ribs as takeout for dinner tonight. I used sweet baby rays hickory sugar free sauce. They weren’t bad. Satisfied my craving at least.

    Elite sweet doughnuts.

Has anyone tried these protein doughnuts. I found them on Amazon?? They are pretty expensive, but… does anyone know how they figure out the net carbs? I googled it and it’s something about the sugar alcohol they use being subtracted but I’ve never heard of this.

    Elite sweet doughnuts.

I just received these doughnuts and apparently they do freeze well cause it says to refrigerate or freeze them right away because there are no preservatives. They are good for 30 days in fridge or 6 months in freezer. As if they will last that long. lol. I just tried one of the cinnamon sugar ones and they are quite tasty in my opinion. I mean it’s not a real doughnut but not bad considering.
  18. I didn’t have that pain but if you search incision pain on this site there are over 17k posts about it. You may be able to find someone who has already posted what you are looking for if you do a search.

    Cooking post-op

I agree. Just pick a menu item that your family likes and research it a bit. Just type low calorie blank, or low carb blank and see what comes up. That’s how I found the lower calorie nachos because someone on here posted nachos and made me want them so I searched for a lower calorie option. Then I made them even lower by using the baked chips and the reduced fat cheese. And how I learned about the sugar free bbq sauce is I was craving baby back ribs so I searched for low calorie ribs. And I found out about sweet baby rays hickory sugar free sauce on this site. It has to be the hickory one though. The original sugar free isn’t as good. I just got some ribs from my local bbq spot that are DRY and I am having them for dinner tonight with my sugar free sauce.

    Cooking post-op

I agree with starting now. If you have a handful of meals that you cook regularly ask for suggestions of calorie cutting tips or healthier options for those meals. Like for instance using frozen cauliflower crust for making pizza and topping it with chicken and veggies instead of pepperoni and real crust cuts calories and adds protein. Tacos can be made with ground Turkey and fat free cheese or made fresco style. I recently posted recipes in the recipe section for chicken and black bean nachos that I made with baked Tostito scoops and low-fat cheese and also for zucchini pizza stacks that were delicious. The pizza stacks are a little more calorie dense because of the pepperoni but you could try Turkey pepperoni to cut calories even further. I don’t recommend leaving it out alltogether I tried that and didn’t get the pizza flavor without it Little swaps, though, like Using low carb wraps anywhere you can instead of bread cuts calories. And finding sugar free and lower calorie dressings and sauces will help cut tons of calories. Also using spray Pam instead of oil to cook with or just measuring your oil and sticking to a smaller amount. During your weight loss phase you will probably have to cut down even further leaving some things off your plate but Once you get to maintenance things will get back to your new normal. I would just make a few swaps here and there to start and then a few more once those have been accepted by the family. Some things you will find don’t taste bad in lower calorie options and they are pretty painless changes. Others you may get a little grief about. 😂

    Metabolic syndrome

I agree with others. If you have a family history of those conditions you may still have them despite losing weight but if they were brought on by obesity then losing weight should resolve them. My husband for instance has always been very fit and he still has high BP and ironically doesn’t even like salt. It’s weird but there is nothing he can do to get off the meds. And now for me post surgery my triglycerides are creeping up, but this runs in my family even in those with a healthy weight so I’m guessing it was going to happen regardless of my weight or surgery. So I guess the short answer is yes some of your issues should resolve but not necessarily all of them.
  23. I agree I don’t enjoy them either. Great idea to just wait with them till it’s time so you don’t end up missing out on all the good conversation while they are in line though. Never thought of that.
  24. I ordered this and it DID work for my salad dressing in terms of it being thicker. The only thing I didn’t like is that the cap is not air tight so once the dressing is up in the lid I worry about it not being sealed. I use yogurt dressing so I’m not sure that’s safe. I’m sure for oil it will be fine though. I just washed it out and I’m going to put olive oil in it and stick to my little disposable containers for my dressing.
  25. I don’t know when your surgery was so it’s kinda hard to tell but once your like a year out it’s normal to be able to eat around one serving of most things. For some, bread sits heavy. They are lucky in my opinion because I, like you, could eat an entire bagel if I let myself. I guess in the future maybe only put half on your plate just in case. I have to measure out my food at 16 months out because I can eat more than I should. But if I stop and wait a little while I realize I am satisfied on less.
