Nervous on vacation!!!! Help!!!
ShoppGirl replied to MommaJo1969's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My aunt was telling me one day that she has seen signs some places that say no sharing. I haven’t seen them yet but I wonder why it matters to them. I was a waitress when I was in college and as long as someone left me a fair tip didn’t care how cheap they were (I’m assuming that’s why they think we are sharing is cause of money??). Anyways, we almost always share but I also bring a cooler with us so if we don’t want the same thing I can bring most things home. Salad didn’t make it. It still got soggy but that could have been the cooler or just because it had alot of water in it, not sure. This probably won’t help on vacation either. Then again if you were planning to pack a lunch and dinner, maybe you could just carry a cooler and take leftovers home for others to eat as a snack? . -
Beware The Coffee Creamer Pipeline
ShoppGirl replied to Kukubari's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Try premiere protein caffe latte. You of course can’t have four of them because it would be too many calories and protein but I have one every morning for breakfast and they are great and have about the same caffeine as a cup of coffee. You can also get caffeinated crystal light?? -
September surgery buddies!!
ShoppGirl replied to Slwhurst's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It’s a thing that plenty of people have done. Myself included. I did it because I thought I wasn’t ever going to be able to eat the foods I loved ever again. It really wasn’t necessary because I now can tolerate anything I ate pre surgery just in smaller portions but it won’t kill you either. Just that many calories you have to lose post surgery. -
Nervous on vacation!!!! Help!!!

I know that many of us were taught to not waste food and of course we should try not to but sometimes it’s just not avoidable. If you can pack lunch and dinner and that works out better for you that’s great but give yourself permission to waste a little if it works better too. You are on vacation and you should be enjoying yourself. If there are not any smaller options available and you can’t share with Anyone else then just eat what you can and leave the rest. And remember, you aren’t really wasting money, You are investing in your health which will save you money in the long run. can you eat salad? A lot of times when I am out with another person who won’t eat their entire meal, I will just order a side salad and have a small piece of their protein. Alot of times there are two sides and you can choose a side salad for one of them with a slight up charge. Then I will have a shake for a snack if I didn’t get enough protein that day. Just depends on how you tolerate lettuce. Or can you order a side of veggies and just have a bite or two off of your families plates? If not, just know that whatever you have to do it’s gets easier the further out you get. Try not to stress too much about it though. Enjoy yourself. -
Maybe take an Uber or have someone drive you to the dr appt too. Definitely don’t want to pass out or even get dizzy while driving.

So glad you figured it out and are feeling better.

Don’t beat yourself up. Like others have said what’s done is done. But the underlying issue may be something to explore in therapy. The surgery fixes your stomach but but your head. Many people swear by the work that they do in therapy and how life changing it is. Maybe ask your team for a referral to a therapist that specializes in bariatric therapy.

New ans starting process
ShoppGirl replied to Tracy Bjerke's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I like their fruit punch too. It’s a little to strong for me post surgery so I mix one of those with one of the strawberry watermelon in a gallon jug and that’s perfect for me. -
Good for you. They say statistically that people who get plastics are more likely to keep it off too.

I was told to use this on my thigh chafing as well. I wasn’t sure if it’s the same issue that causes it but that worked for me on the chafing.

So many updates, so little time...
ShoppGirl replied to SleeveToBypass2023's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow. You are incredibly busy. That’s awesome to get rid of some clothes. It’s like we are accepting that this actually is working this time unlike all the diets in the past and I’m so glad they went to some really good causes. I am sorry your in another stall but at least this time your not letting it freak you out. It will pass before you know it. I’m SO glad you have an appointment for your scope and I hope you get some answers really soon. Congrats on being down to the last two classes and it’s awesome that you have a goal but if you don’t reach it, don’t let it stop you from attending. I didn’t attend for my AA or my BA and I actually regret not attending. The AA was for legitimate reasons but the BA was because I was embarrassed of my size and didn’t want to be in the limelight. Such a shame because it’s hard work earning that degree and we deserve to be celebrated. What a cool mom letting your daughter play hookie and shop for her sweet 16. Those are the memories that we tend to remember as the years fly by. I hope you are enjoying your weekend as well. Keep up the good work!! -
Admittedly I was lower BMI to start so I didn’t lose as much weight as some do but I lost 66 pounds and I only shrunk ONE cup size. I wish I would have lost more of them. Sad thing is I have tiny implants hidden down somewhere I got in my 20’s that even my Gyno is like are you sure wait now I feel them so I don’t qualify for a reduction because I did it in part to myself. Maybe some day I will hit the lottery and that’s the first thing I will be doing. Boob job.

Shakes- coffee flavors
ShoppGirl replied to ShoppGirl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Loads of info. Thanks. -
I am a huge fan of the caffe latte by premiere protein but I am wanting to change it up a bit and have something different. Does anyone have any other coffee type shakes that are good to suggest. Ideally those with caffeine in them.

Gastric Sleeve and Depression
ShoppGirl replied to Muffinman1119's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I actually have bipolar disorder but it is more of the depressed type so I take a mood stabilizer AND Wellbutrin. For me the Wellbutrin causes me to sweat more but it’s a very uncommon side effect so it most likely won’t be an issue for most people. I have tried many many other meds and they don’t work as well so I have had to learn to deal with this side effect until other new meds are developed like sunnyway said it took a while for me to find the right combination of meds to treat my bipolar and even still small adjustments have to be made once in a while so definitely be patient and don’t give up. -

Loosing teeth after gastric bypass and the easy way out?
ShoppGirl replied to Erin18's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
It’s chips in my fillings. Not sure why I said chipped cavities, lol. I go to the dentist twice a year and have never had any but this time I have THREE. I know that fillings do fail eventually and I have had some of them for over a decade, possibly two so It’s also possible they are just past their prime but three at the same time I thought was really odd (when they were all definitely fine during my recent exam). I thought acid could possibly have to do with it?? I will let you know after my appointment what the dentist thinks though. -
September surgery buddies!!
ShoppGirl replied to Slwhurst's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
A whole Turkey, lol. Yea if you have someone who is willing to do it that’s definitely the best idea. You will have lots of sutures and staples in there that could get pulled if you lift her and cause a lot of issues. If you do injure yourself you would most likely be needing help for a lot longer than if you are just cautious the first time around. -

ShoppGirl replied to Slwhurst's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That’s a tough one. You really shouldn’t be doing it though. Is there anyone who can help you?? It’s been a while but I think I was restricted to not lift anything over ten pounds for two weeks. I worry that you could really hurt yourself by lifting her. -
I love it. Those are the kinds of memories that will last a lifetime for the kids too. So glad you decided you were ready to give it a try.

ShoppGirl replied to Slwhurst's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Post surgery all I did was walk around for a couple weeks. I am patient and didn’t want to risk forgetting and doing something to hurt myself. If you do more than that just be very mindful of the lifting restrictions (for me I know myself and I will forget and do it). -

You may not need to bring your medications. I had to bring two of mine because they didn’t have them in their stock but they typically tell you to leave your medications at home and make you use theirs. Very cute pill reminder though. -
Loosing teeth after gastric bypass and the easy way out?
ShoppGirl replied to Erin18's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Ooh absolutely. I really hope it’s just like $10 difference as it was for me. Not at all worth being restricted by choice of dentist or their scheduling mess. -
Loosing teeth after gastric bypass and the easy way out?
ShoppGirl replied to Erin18's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Idk, IF my chipped cavities are related to sleeve then that’s not always the case because I am the model bariatric patient. I even asked to follow up MORE often just to hold myself accountable. In a year and a half I have missed my calcium maybe twice (never missed my multivitamin to this day), I get my protein religiously and I take great care of my teeth to include professional cleanings twice a year. It is possible they are just coincidence time wise. That’s always possible I guess. But I am going to ask the dentist and I will report back here with his opinion of whether it’s excess acid. I guess even if it is this isn’t an extreme case of teeth falling out but I’m only a year and a half out so I guess only time will tell. Not trying to scare anyone. But I was never warned about the possibility and I think people should know about all the possible risks going in. My appt is Sept 22nd. If I forget to reply someone mention me to remind me and I will let everyone know what the dentist says. -
I have heard of people who use underarm deodorant under their breasts. I personally would ask a dr if that’s okay first but I’m sure it helps if sweating is the issue.
