Yea. She can prep some things for you. At first you will be on all liquids and once you get to puree you will be eating tiny portions. By the time you get to regular food you will have dropped a significant amount of weight and may be surprised at how much better you feel. I have a tremendous amount of energy now. I haven’t exercised in 20 years but now I’m walking daily, doing yoga twice a week and just tried a cardio/strength class today that I think I’m going to keep doing as well. I started at a lower BMI than you so you may not be doing rigorous exercise right away but you will be able to do more than you can now for sure and each day you will be able to do a little more and more. You can always supplement with protein shakes anytime too. Sometimes if I’m on the run I will have a shake for lunch even though I’m back to regular foods and I have one mixed with coffee every morning (that’s pretty good by the way if you like iced coffee I make mine with decaf). Perhaps you and your wife can cook together once you’re physically able and while you’re learning. I did that with my husband for a while before he got too busy with work and it was actually kinda fun. Anyways, I’m really excited for you on this journey. This surgery is life changing. It takes a great deal of work and commitment but it’s well worth it.

Repurposed a Dress 👗
ShoppGirl replied to Bypass2Freedom's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
You look great. Isn’t it awesome. I called it shopping my closet. I am lazy so I’ve got all different sizes in there still from when I lost with my sleeve. They are all disorganized so I really need to take a couple of days and organize them but I have pulled out a few things that I haven’t been able to wear in a while and it felt really good. -

It will happen before you know it!! I’m the opposite of you. I lose it in my bottom before my top. So I’m buying new bottoms and wearing my same tops still. Honestly, I think that I was wearing my tops too tight back when I started so that’s why it’s taking me a little longer to size out of them. It actually does get quite expensive when you start needing new bras and undies and everything else all at once. I think that’s why the veterans suggest not to buy too much that won’t fit you a month later I’m mostly shopping at thrift stores for now and saving money for when I get to the smaller sizes and it’s really fun. Of course, if budget permits go crazy shopping is fun when things actually fit

I wonder if it would be worth it to pay to take them in? I mean if you really like them and can’t get them in a smalller size.

That’s probably not a bad thing to have a bit of a break in between your first and second session. It feels pretty incredible when you’re done, doesn’t it? I started with walking and then I added yoga twice a week and today was my first cardio/ strength class. I thought I was in trouble when the teacher says so are you guys warmed up yet and I was already tired. Thankfully we didn’t do too much more cardio before we changed to the strength stuff. My legs are tired but I’m not limping or anything. It’s great when you find a workout that pushes you some but not so bad that you hurt yourself. I never thought I would ever enjoy exercise like I do now. I just feel so incredible when I am done. I love it. -
I did the small meals throughout the day too. Mine is every three hours but I have alarms set to remind me or I would never remember because I don’t feel hungry either. Speaking of jerky. Chomps brand makes a turkey jerky that is pepperoni flavored that’s really good. That and cheese sticks are super convenient for on the go. Ooh and the yogurt drinks if you can find one that relatively clean. I did find one but it’s pricey so I started making my own. It’s really easy just Greek yogurt, milk and fruit in a blender. i use a container of non fat plain greek yogurt, 1/4 cup berries and 1/2 cup of almond milk. I just drink it out of the nutra bullet cup if I’m home but I also wash and reuse the containers from the ones I purchased to take on the go. They are $4 each in the store for the ones without added garbage and I always have fruit and almond milk on hand that usually goes to the waste anyways so I just have to buy the yogurt which is a lot cheaper than 4 bucks each.

Weightloss being noticed: dealing with comments from others?

My go to now is to find someway to incorporate my husband into the conversation. Like if we’re in a parking lot, I will stop and say oh my husband was thinking about getting one of them cars. Even if it’s not true, just to mention that I have a husband. I figure if they still keep it up at that point I can just be blatantly rude because they are definitely being rude trying to flirt with a married woman. -
There is another thread about this called reactive hypoglycemia which apparently is not all that uncommon post weight loss surgery. Actually may be why my teams standard is to have us eat every three hours. I’ve never gone longer than that so I wouldn’t know if I had it. Maybe I should try it while I’m at home instead of it happening when I’m out having fun on vacation or something. Definitely try eating more often a little something. It’s also possible that it’s diabetes related so personally, I would go ahead and schedule an appointment with my family doctor and then just cancel it if eating more often helps. That’s just me because my doctor is kind of hard to get into.

Sleeve revision to SASI in January 2024
ShoppGirl replied to teedsg's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Do you mean SADI? Or is SASI another newer surgery? I had a sleeve revision to SADI and they warned me that diarrhea would be an issue for the first three or so months. For me I haven’t had this issue. Some days my stool is loose but it’s only once a day. I have been eating extremely clean though so perhaps that’s part of it. I would keep a log of what you’re eating and when it is happening and get with your team. You may have developed an allergy to something. That’s not at all uncommon. -

Today I wore a pair of shorts (like soccer shorts) and they are a smaller size but the same design as the ones I was wearing when I started walking that would ride all the way up before I got to the end of the driveway. I honestly didn’t even think much about it at first because I’ve been wearing bike shorts for a while, but they didn’t ride up!! My legs still rub together a bit but not so much that my shorts won’t stay put. I hope this applies to all shorts. -

a really nice lady in my yoga class asked why I don’t go to the cardio one. I was waiting a little while longer until I am a bit more fit but now I feel like I should just go ahead and start. I just packed my bag with my little 2ib weights and an old yoga mat that I had under my Ab Roller because it says to bring a mat. Im not sure if they mean an exercise mat but if so I don’t have one. I don’t want to use my good yoga mat because I will be wearing shoes. Hopefully if that’s not what they meant they will have one I can borrow. And hopefully I don’t fall out too soon during the class. I looked at my heart rate from the last yoga class and my heart was up to 155 just from that at one point. I am definitely not ready for a real intense cardio class. We shall see how it goes I guess. -
I am so thrilled for you. That is such a wonderful feeling to be able to enjoy shopping again. I am already having a bit more fun with it. I got a cute pair of pink leggings for Yoga that I never would’ve worn before to celebrate my 50 pounds loss and I just got there but I have to wait untill after Wednesday to wear them because I don’t have a bra that fits that will work under a white top to match. I ordered a couple nude sports bras that will be here Wednesday though. I can already tell that I am going to probably be spending a pretty penny on athletic attire. I guess whatever keeps me motivated though.

Well I got my basil plant today and I asked around and figured out there is a produce stand near me where they grow their own tomatoes. I went this afternoon but they were completely out. He said to come back Thursday and he will have more so I added to my calendar to go early that morning. Now I just have to figure out where to plant my basil plant. Is it sad that I actually can’t wait to try this? My life pretty much revolves around food and exercise right now. I guess there are worse things. -
Reactive Hypoglycaemia
ShoppGirl replied to Bypass2Freedom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Okay. I don’t know that much about it, but it’s still appalling that any medical professional would just leave you to figure out some silly app while you were having any kind of blood sugar issues that they should’ve prevented to begin with. My guess is they probably have some kind of protein right next to the orange juice if that’s what people need. They have a little refrigerator with stuff like that in it. Stuff that they don’t want to have to go to the cafeteria for. It’s the same place They put the sugar-free ice pops for people who had bariatric surgery. I know because I didn’t like the flavors that they had and they asked if I could have my husband bring me a box and they said yes they were just put my name on them. And even if they didn’t have anything the Least they could do was order it for her. You learn a lot about things when you spend five days there walking laps around the halls -

I haven’t tried pasta since my revision but I could eat it done post sleeve and they didn’t operate on my stomach so my guess is I could. I am doing zoodles for now though. I also need the sauce for my turkey meatballs. I have done like 1/3 cup of brown rice to increase my carbs and that was tolorated fine. A lot of people do have issues with starchy stuff though. Mayne a bit of a blessing. The turkey meatballs with pepper and onions over zoodles is quite tasty though. My favorite healthy meal so far. -

I didn’t do the bath or swim yet. I believe it was 6 weeks they said the outside was fully healed (double check on that though because there are different types of closure techniques that may heal slower). My team cleared us for anything but weights at 6 weeks but I noticed that some of the stuff that focuses on the core area in Yoga pulled so I just didn’t do that for a couple weeks (I needed the rest in between anyways 🤣). Tried again this morning in fact and it didn’t pull. I will be 10 weeks out tomorrow. I didn’t realize that I was that far out actually. Probably would’ve tried last week. Anyways, just with anything new, start slow and if you feel it in your tummy, stop!! That’s what I did. -

Reactive Hypoglycaemia
ShoppGirl replied to Bypass2Freedom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
In the US, they always send out surveys every time you go to a medical facility (so often it’s actually annoying). If I were you, I would definitely be mentioned in that experience if you get one. I mean their medical professionals and you were I their care immediately after surgery they should’ve been asking you to make sure that you have eaten given your diagnosis. And definitely after you were already experiencing symptoms. She could have easily got you something right away. I’m 99% confident that they have like orange juice right there for people who experience hypoglycemia due to diabetes. Not sure if that would’ve helped. . That can even cause seizures if it’s the same as diabetes. How can a nurse not take that seriously?! -

Oh that’s a great idea. They should be around the same price here because I bought oregano which I managed to kill quite quickly but I remember thinking that they were very reasonable considering the price of the packaged herbs. I have been going out a lot more since my surgery so hopefully I will remember to water it more often. if I can make it last 4 months that will be a miracle but considering it’s almost as much for one small pack of the same thing I may as well try. If I get two uses out of it I got my moneys worth. And o love the skinny pesto which I just learned today that I can freeze as well so I will get use out of it for sure. -
I can’t tell you exactly how to get it but you do Have to use a computer to do many of the features as opposed to what you can do from a tablet or phone.

Well you should be able to if you don’t mind cooking. I have been trying all sorts of new recipes. Trying new veggies and fruits every week, different fish and turkey meals. New ways to use chicken Ways to reduce the calories from meals I liked before. It’s easier to do while your hunger is gone so the thought is that you will have found some healthy things you do actually enjoy and have better habits if the hunger returns. It does for many people but to varying intensity. I won’t lie I would still like to have pizza and pasta, but since surgery the healthy stuff is far more enjoyable to the point that I am able to resist temptation a little easier and I have found quite a few dinners that I actually look forward to.
