@MrsFitz I got a call back from the NP and she said not to use heat on the incisions. She said it’s okay on back or below the incisions but nothing but ice on the incisions. I am also glad I called though because she said if I really don’t want pain meds she would call me in a muscle relaxer and that and a Tylenol should help.

Yay. So excited for you. That was my arrival time too. I had to wake up at 3:30 to drink Gatorade?! I think I would have been up anyways though with so much on my mind. Best of luck tomorrow. -
Just had an odd experience
ShoppGirl replied to Bypass2Freedom's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I’ve never dumped but some people do dump on too much fat? Another thing could be a peanut allergy. We can develop allergies anytime? I’m sure others will have more ideas from personal experience but those are the two things that come to my mind. Sounds a little scary. Hope you feel better soon. -
So awesome!!

Yikes. That sounds like you are going to look like a pin cushion. Your needle may be a little longer than what my B-12 will be. She said it’s short so you just punch it in like a dart and it doesn’t go into the muscle or anything. I have to start with once a month and then we will check labs a couple of times starting with my next appointment at one month and tweak it from there. whats odd with the gallbladder is that i never had any symptoms. But they got the pathology report back which of course I don’t understand but the NP said it was very inflamed and I had gallstones. So I guess the timing was good to keep me from going through all this again in a few months. I am going to take it more easy. A Heating pad sounds like it would feel good. I’m going to call right now and ask if that’s okay.

Do I have a revision
ShoppGirl replied to indianlight's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
The SADI is a modified version of the DS where when they bypass a portion of the bowels they only need “Single Anastmosis,” which means connection and is the first two letters of the acronym SADI, instead of two anastomosis that the DS uses. They are both almost a combination or the sleeve and bypass to simplify it. They combine the sleeved stomach for restriction with the bypassed intestine for malabsorption. In terms of least to most aggressive it’s sleeve, bypass, SADI, then DS. The SADI is fairly new and is considered to be a relatively safe option with that single connection lessening the risk for leaks by at least half and overall risks are less than the DS considering the weight loss is not a lot less. Like the DS it can be done in one surgery or in two steps beginning with a sleeve first and then completing the bypass portion In a second operation later (often after a patient loses enough weight to make the bypass portion safe or as in my case if they do not lose adequate weight or experience regain after the sleeve). You may also see the SADI referred to as the modified switch or SIPS surgery. And the -S in SADI-S just means with sleeve as in when the two components are done at the same time in one operation. -
NEVER thought I would be asking this

I am a revision so I hwe sleeve 3.5 years ago and it did tend to go in spurts for me too. A few days with nothing lost and then a couple of pounds drop. Or a week or two worth 3-4 pound loss. Apparently that’s not at all uncommon. -
Anyone else baxe a surprise gallbladder removal?
ShoppGirl posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Tomorrow is my first post op appointment with the NP. I had an enexpexted gall bladder removal with my revision so I am working my way through a couple of reason for diet changes. They actually didn’t give me any info on the gallbladder. I guess I should’ve asked more questions but they acted like it was just a useless organ but now I’m being told there is a little more to it. I just googled though and it’s pretty consistent that I shouldn’t have had the cafe latte shake I had today with caffeine. i stopped googling since I tend to create a anxiety spiral when I do that and I see the NP tomorrow but I’m wondering for those of you that got your gallbladder out what I should ask her about tomorrow? -

Oh that’s reassuring. Thanks. -
I am. I literally just came from my one week post op. I had an unexpected gall bladder removal so a lot of my appt was my fears about that. Seems like the scary stuff is far less likely and the most likely will just be the issues with fatty food. She also cleaned my incision from the drain that came uncovered in the shower just because I’m over anxious about infection and when she seen how much pain I’m in when I laid down And sat up she said that I need to be on pain meds and I’m trying to be too tough. I just placed my Walmart order and added Tylenol. I’m gonna try they first. She also said with the SADI that it’s not uncommon to have issues with B12 but now that we add in the gall bladder thing she wants to start me on monthly injections. This should be interesting since i can’t even look when someone else gives me a shot. Guess like anything else I will get used to it.

At least your program tried. Mine doesn’t even have anything in the way of patient education. They send you the nutritionist because because its a requirement but as any in of the providers or staff in their office and you will get a different answer bout nutrition specifics. This even includes the pre op and liquid diets and even the book they give you doesn’t match what they say. Then to complicate things even further they send in a nutritionist at the hospital with a whole differnt little book. Not sure what to follow. Just tried to pick tne most restrictive and hope For ghe best.

In terms of clothing you guys also consider waist tightener pins and them sweater clips for dresses and tops. They are fairly reasonable and can be used throughout all the sizes to make them last a bit longer. -

I am not sure what your post surgery diet is but mine allows part skim ricotta And low fat mozzarella as well as low calorie marinara. The parmasen she used I did not add to mine. -
Anyone else baxe a surprise gallbladder removal?
ShoppGirl replied to ShoppGirl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I wasn’t really given a post op diet specific to the gallbladder removal either but when I googled it a couple of sites had a post op diet specific to the removal and mentioned the high fat and as well as no caffeine, alcohol or carbonation And slowly introducing fiber. I assumed they didn’t mention itr since most surgeons do not allow any of these Early out anyways but mine does allow a Little caffeine. The latte shake has caffeine. I am truly hoping ir doesn’t cause many issues. Especially with absorption and cholesterol like yours. Mild but slowly increasing cholesterol and knee pain are my two comorbidities and what I hoped to resolve with the weight loss (the cholesterol runs in the family even for thin people though).. Also, if my bipolar meds do not absorb I have no clue what I will do. I don’t even want to think of what a disaster that could be. It’s day 8 now and so far I feel okay. Usually if I miss it two days pills in a row I feel different. My prescribing dr says that they are mostly absorbed by the stomach membrane so I shouldn’t notice much change with my revision since they aren’t touching my sleeve. I just didn’t know to ask about the gallbladder thing. I was in such bad pain when they told me they removed it I I honestly didn’t even want to worry about that part until I was feeling better. It sounds like I really shouldn’t even begin to jump to any conclusions though since you’re and your family’s experience were so different. Maybe more of a wait and see what happems sort of thing and why they really didn’t mention much about it. -
I am looking for information on the before and after getting the sleeve done

Great suggestion to write down questions. A friend suggested for me to keep a list on my phone and that was ideal because it’s always with me so I could add them as they popped into my head no matter where I was. -

I didn’t have any issues getting my fluid goals right away and was drinking pretty big sips in the hospital with my sleeve. They said I just didn’t have as much swelling as many people do. They said to me just because you can do it doesn’t mean you should do it. You want to get used to slowing down and taking smaller sips because when it’s more solid food and it’s bites you will feel your restriction and one bite too many will be the difference between full and vomiting. And just so it doesn’t scare you I lost plenty of weight with my sleeve. It worked fine until I let the bad choices slip back in so don’t worry about that. -

There are so many different recipes online and even on this site if you really want one but honestly I just went by my taste preference. This one is a single serving using a ramekin. She uses Parmesan cheese In the ricotta mixture and eliminates the mozzarella but I never tried it that way. It will give you the basic portions though. https://bariatricbits.com/single-serve-baked-ricotta/ -

Glad you are home and it sound like feeling pretty little pain.. I may have some questions for you about your gallbladder surgery experience. I had an unexpected removal of mine with my revision and I’m going tomorrow to get some answers I hope but I know absolutely nothing at all about all this. Take your healing time and let us know how you are doing. Then when you are feeling back to normal please let me know so I can pick your brain about that if you do not mind. -

Now that you know your size consider checking out some thrift stores. For this size and maybe even the next size down. Usually the church ones have the best prices on clothes. Places like Goodwill don’t price each item separately so sometimes you score but a lot of times it’s not even really a deal. They have like a set price for all jeans whether they are top of the line with the tags or if they are worn looking Walmart brand. The problem is that there are people who shop these places for their business and grab all the descent stuff and Resell it online so you really have to get lucky and find stuff that just got out on the rack before they get to go through it. The church stores tend to price each item as they see fit so you may pay a little more for a nicer quality but at least you can actually find it there. Maybe you will get lucky and your local store doesn’t have anyone like that but near me I never have luck there. If you have a reasonable consignment store near you it may be even better. You can bring things back and get credit as they become too big to use towards your smaller items. -

I honestly think at a certain point it doesn’t much matter what they do while they are poking around in your abdomen it’s just hurts for a while regardless. I had a surprise gallbladder removal and I seem to be recovering pretty similar to most others with the surgery. I had a bit of a tough beginning but that was actually because of gas not incision pain. Hopefully yours will be the same but without the gas either -

If you get one of them don’t fill it with more than you plan to use. I just tried mine tonight when I decided I prefer to eat with a spoon to feel Ike I’m getting food. I couldn’t open the lid cause it’s a YETI so of course the seal is 5000 times stronger than any other but when hubby opened it he spilled tomato soup anywhere. I think the one with a screw on lid would be much better. Think this is intended for you to use all the contents before you open the lid. Anyways, I added the warmer to my Walmart cart. They have one in stock that comes with its own mug for $24.99. They have cheaper ones you use your own mug if you have time to wait but I really kinda need it soon. -

Yea. I’m hoping it’s something like that. I’m pretty sure he will say we will keep a close eye on it. I mean as long as like you said I’m meeting my goals and my labs are good I guess it doesn’t really matter.
