I mean, at this point I give up trying to figure it out...

There are also foods that contain the enzymes but keep in mind if they are like the vitamin they only stay in your gut like 30-45 minutes so you may need to eat them at your same meal as your carbs. “Foods that contain natural digestive enzymes include pineapples, papayas, mangoes, honey, bananas, avocados, kefir, sauerkraut, kimchi, miso, kiwifruit and ginger.” https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/natural-digestive-enzymes -

A friend of mine gets really sick after she eats if she forgets to take her digestive enzymes too. She never got any diagnosis I don’t think she just buys the enzymes online which I personally wouldn’t do but I’m in ALOT of other meds and don’t want them to interfere with other stuff. She also never said it’s about carbs specifically but she is like most of us pre surgery and usually eats pretty carb heavy meals. Those pills make ALL the difference for her. We shop and stop for lunch and if she forgets to take them she gets so sick but if she takes them she is pretty much fine. A little tired for a while but she pushes through to keep shopping 🤣 This is after her typical bacon cheeseburger and fries plus like fried pickle appetizer we sometimes would split so pretty carb heavy. Dr google says there are three enzymes that help with digestion of carbs that you can get In the vitamin or pill whatever you want to call it but it also says to definitely consult a Dr before taking them if you have a history of ulcers, liver or gallbladder issues. i keep adding to this as I find more stuff. Apparently they enzymes work hand in hand with probiotics to keep things working too so ask about them. And ask a brand for the probiotics because I have heard that some of them are worthless and a total waste of money because of the way they are processed. It seems like it had something to do with the temperature but I don’t remember for sure. -

I’m pretty sure that this is the same article that @MrsFitz found that diagram in but the article itself is pretty interesting too. There are tests and some treatments for various issues that cause carb intolerance, carb malabsorption or carb maldigestion. https://drruscio.com/carbohydrate-intolerance/#:~:text=If you continue to have gastrointestinal symptoms, products because they contain the sugar ( -

That seems so bizarre I really hope Someone can figure out WHY the carbs are such an issue. If it’s not going to be the surgeons office then look elsewhere. And whatever you do, please do not skip the labs. They are really important and a vitamin being out of whack can case its own host of symptoms some of which are irreparable. I am pretty sure your family provider can order them. The surgeons office should be able to provide them with a list of what they normally order. -
Should I Consider A Revision?
ShoppGirl replied to GataAnime's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Like @Catwoma62 said it’s a switch surgery similar to the DS but the bypass portion of it is modified to make it a little less risky. It fairly new but they are starting to find it to be a good alternative to bypass. little as a revision to a sleeve. It’s a little more aggressive than bypass but the research is suggesting that the weight loss as a revision to bypass is not consistently great and with SADI revision it’s a little better. Plus the ability to keep weight off long term is believed to be better with the SADI revision. Not all surgeons do it yet and many will not reduce the size of the sleeve when they do a revision so they will do some tests to look at your sleeve first to make certain that it is still in good shape or it may not be the better option. There are many other factors in terms of which option is best and the surgeon is best to help you decide but it is another option to ask them about. -
OMG that plug thing sounds like torture. I swear if men had these female procedures too they would come up with better ideas to make this stuff less painful. The underwear i ordered were pretty thick too if that’s what you mean. They were more comfortable around the house than pads for sure, but they were pretty bulky under clothes (they showed through in the back). This was a few years ago so hopefully they are better now but I would try them on with pants or whatever you plan to wear home and make sure they aren’t too bulky underneath just in case if that will bother you .

Others have covered the majority of what I was going to say but I would like to add that I suffer from a pretty bad anxiety disorder. I literally stress over things that others would and sometimes do feel are so silly. Just one of my quirks but if you can only imagine the surgery was beyond stressful for me. The best thing i did was to tell everyone that was helping me that I was super anxious. I told them that I could get through this but i was going to need them to be extremely patient with me. They were so great. They answered every single question I had and believe me I had alot and they distracted me with idle chit chat when that was appropriate. I have my own anxiety meds that I take as needed on a normal day and i was allowed to just take that pill like 2 hours before I had to be at the hospital but they should be able to give you something in your IV to help relax you a bit once you get there if your super anxious still. If music relaxes you or guided meditation (there are some good ones on the Calm App’s free version) bring along your ear buds to use with your phone and use them if you need them. Honestly once you get there you will hopefully pretty quickly realize just how many people are assigned to take care of you and how many times they check and recheck everything just to be sure they get everything right and this will make you feel like you are in really good hands. The other thing that pulled me out of. A couple moments was to remind myself that as scared as I was about any risks associated with the surgery that there are so many more risks associated with NOT doing the surgery. Also, there is a thread called “weirdest non scale victories” you will find if you type that into the search box on this site that I highly recommend . They turned out to not really be weird at all but there are so many non scale changes that you have to look forward too and many of them are mentioned there. Keep posting here too. There are so many really great people to help you through this every single step of the way. You’ve got this!’

The ONLY thing out of that that sounds even remotely helpful for you to accomplish what YOU want for YOUR body would be to do some strength training. But to do that you’re definitely going to need to increase your carbs. Did she ever answer why it could be that carbs are causing such an issue for you? That would be the best place to start. I really do think you need to see someone else. is it just certain types of carbs or any carbs? You said too many cause you to feel sick, is that too many in a day or too many in one sitting? Could you eat more times a day, maybe?! -

The Clifton 9 is the one I just ordered. I don’t have a fleet feet but I have a friend in a little bigger city i will ask her if she has that store or a Foot Locker like @Arabesque suggested. For stuff like this I usually end up either going witb her or ordering a few options and returning whatever doesn’t work. I thought the HOKA were really cute though and like I said two people recommended them to me so I figured I’d give them a try. -

Has anyome asked if corn is okay on soft foods. I know that my book said specifically no corn or peas on purées. I am curious because I was adding the spicy bean veggie burgers to my cart from Morningstar Farms for my soft phase which starts Monday but if I’m pretty sure they have some corn in them. -

So at one point when I was in the hospital someome said I had nine incisions including the drain but if i did it was tiny and healed before I left cause I left with 7 steri strips and a band aid where the drain was. Anyways, out of 7, only two had fallen off. The NP commented on the fact that it was unusual today and said if any start to lift I could take tjem off. Well after my shower one was lifted a little so I carefully took it off and I do not reccomend it unless they are pretty loose (looser than mine was). It pulled and it hurts quite a bit. Of course ask your team if they suggested differently but from the patient perspective it doesn’t feel very good. -

I definitely will post on here my thoughts on the HOKA brand. My husband just had the greatest idea to use bowling shoe covers so I can wear them around for more than a second without getting the bottoms too dirty. Especially since I am 3 weeks post op today and my husband wears his shoes in the house all the time 😩 I have swept the floors a few times but I know from looking at my socks that’s definitely not enough. Ooh and a lady in my in person support group also suggested that brand. She is a year out from sleeve and walks 5 miles a day at least and she likes them. The ones that they recommend for walking on their site says “everyday running/ walking”. I know some people wear running shoes for walking and it’s fine but one article I read said that running specific shoes are designed to be lighter in weight so they have far less padding. It’s fine for short amounts of time they say but for long distances they are not the best choice. -

I just ordered HOKA to try. Steer clear of Amazon for them some of the colors that are popular are way marked up. I found some that specifically said for walking on their site. One of my friends daughters is a nurse and said the nurses love them because they are so comfy and I figured if anyone would know it’s them working 12 hour shifts. -

@draikaina8503 i really hope They underneath you for purée anyways. I have my fingers crossed for you. And I hope you get some answers and solutions about the blisters and the pain as well. To me, cottage cheese has a kinda weird consistency and it’s sorta salty. Which is odd because I like salt and my friend who always thinks things are too salty loves the stuff. I am waiting for soft foods because I found a list of things to mix in with it to make it taste better but for purée you can mix it in with eggs. The recipe is 1/4 cup with two eggs. I tried it and of course that’s more than we should eat so I saved it for the next day. It did dry out a bit if your super sensitive I would just make one at a time and estimate an eight if a cup. Thank you for reminding me about the ac. My husband said he was gonna call and ask them about the error code if we still needed a tech and he hasn’t mentioned anything. It’s still working but I need to make sure he didn’t forget to ask. Thanks for the heads up about the allergy tests. Sounds like I can pretty much do the same thing at home for free and just call for an ambulance if I need one. I assume that’s what they do as well. Take it easy with the Bending. I know the feeling of just wanting to do it yourself but I seen my NP today and asked what i can do in terms of housework. She said you have to be super careful engaging your abdominal muscles. She said I probably wouldn’t tear anything at this point but I could develop a hernia. And that’s another surgery with another recovery. Better to do a little while longer now then to have to start all over. Do you have one of them grabber things for picking stuff up? I got one at dollar tree that’s probably won’t last too long cause it’s plastic but it’s been fine for now. I had a metal one but I’m pretty sure it found its way to the garage and that’s the land of no return. They come in handy outside of surgery when something gets underneath things and is hard to reach too. The sticky stuff comes off easily with alcohol and the NP said today baby oil too. And you will sleep less and less as time goes on. Your body is just living on so few calories right now it thinks it’s starving and wants to hibernate. In terms of the routine it sounds like yours will have to be more flexible but you will figure it out I’m sure once we make the exercise and stuff a habit it’s just a matter of changing times of day to keep it up if other things come up We can do this Update. Glad to hear you get to start puree and that you do not have any infection. All of us seem to be making the little steps day by day towards getting back to our presurgery grove with our post surgery bodies. It’s so exciting!! -

I would assume it’s fine. The only thing I would’ve questioned would be the shell on the beans but my purée specifically says refried beans are okay so that’s just purée beans. So long as the spice doesn’t bother you it should be okay. Assuming the meat really does purée well with no chunks. -

I got some clarification on what to start with on soft foods. It’s basically anything that you can cut easily with the side of your fork but chewed really well of course. With the exception or broccoli and asparagus or celery. She said those tend to cause issues for some people so just don’t start with them. The in person meeting was actually cool. He had a planned topic to present and asked if we had questions about that and then he opened it up to ask any questions we had about anything. They have different people cover it each month but last night was the surgeon so that was kinda cool. -
My first day of soft foods is Labor Day and since they usually have snow crabs on sale I was thinking that would be a tasty choice for my first soft food. I just want to steer clear of the garlic butter. I tried googling for lighter ideas to dip it in but didn’t have any luck. I was thinking I could make it with I can’t believe it’s not butter light but I used to have a recipe. I’m pretty sure it had sautéed onions and it used broth. It wasn’t bad, I wish I had saved it. Anyways, anyone have a recipe like this or another idea of what to dip crab in? The more I search I think it may have been intended as a lobster or scampi sauce. I found one that may work but if anyone has one that they know is good I would really appreciate it.

Should I Consider A Revision?
ShoppGirl replied to GataAnime's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I would ask about the GLP-1 first and if that doesn’t fit for whatever reason then consider revision to Bypass or SADI. I am 3 weeks post sleeve to SADI revision and down 29 pounds. We had similar starting weights although I’m a bit taller than you. I was 235 when I did my sleeve and i gained it all back plus some so you are in a better boat than I was. Since you have alot less to lose that I did and you have kept a big chunk of the weight off I personally would try the GLP-1 first if it’s medically appropriate but that’s a decision your doctor will be able to help you make. -
Yea. Technically I guess they do have them during my day since I am still menstruating but they didn’t have them when I was young either. I was pretty excited to see them. I ordered them when they only had one brand and they weren’t very comfortable for me but now they have all different cuts of panties. Not sure if the bleeding is heavy for hysterectomy (I assume it is) but I had a procedure to remove polyps and I woke up with a post partum pad and they are huge and uncomfortable during the day but the absolute best for sleeping. It’s really long so it doesn’t leak even with pretty heavy bleeding when you’re lying down. I asked the nurse for a few extras in case I needed them but the bleeding slowed pretty quick for me. I ended up giving my niece all the feminine products I had when I got the IUD and my periods stopped but I kept those big pads for any future procedures. My advice is to ask for a few more of them pads at the hospital and even their panty liners were better at their office than you can find in the store. The adhesive actually covers the whole width of them so it doesn’t try to fold in towards the middle like the ones that just have one line of adhesive down the middle. I asked them for a few of the liners at my post op as well and saved them for when I was going to be out and about. Bring your big purse. 😆 Ooh and if you need to do ice post op, there is an ice pack on Amazon that is actually made for your back but I have one and realized it works great for my post SADI incisions that are most painful which are low on the abdomen (I’m assuming that’s where they are for a hysterectomy). It Velcro’s around you like a belt that has a pouch for the ice pack. It also comes with a heat pack and works great for the intended use which is for low back pain. It’s called Magic Gel.

So very happy to hear that things are looking up for you. Each day it has gotten a little easier for me. -
Yea. The one I ordered says spicy lime I think. It says mild so that should be good for me. I’m excited to try it. I plan to have all of my options and do some taste testing.

Did you know they actually make period underwear now that absorbs the blood. They have it in several different brands that come in a number of different styles. An alternative I just did was to get a mirena IUD. For most people it stops the periods. They last 8 years now too so probably only one insertion and removal will carry you right into menopause.

I really hope I do like it. I found a box of individual packs of it on Walmart just as cheap as a bottle. Figured if I do I can take it with me when I eat seafood out and if I don’t I can donate the unopened ones.

Hummmm. Certainly with a try. May taste good. Thanks.
