So at one point when I was in the hospital someome said I had nine incisions including the drain but if i did it was tiny and healed before I left cause I left with 7 steri strips and a band aid where the drain was. Anyways, out of 7, only two had fallen off. The NP commented on the fact that it was unusual today and said if any start to lift I could take tjem off. Well after my shower one was lifted a little so I carefully took it off and I do not reccomend it unless they are pretty loose (looser than mine was). It pulled and it hurts quite a bit. Of course ask your team if they suggested differently but from the patient perspective it doesn’t feel very good.

    Best shoes for walking

I definitely will post on here my thoughts on the HOKA brand. My husband just had the greatest idea to use bowling shoe covers so I can wear them around for more than a second without getting the bottoms too dirty. Especially since I am 3 weeks post op today and my husband wears his shoes in the house all the time 😩 I have swept the floors a few times but I know from looking at my socks that’s definitely not enough. Ooh and a lady in my in person support group also suggested that brand. She is a year out from sleeve and walks 5 miles a day at least and she likes them. The ones that they recommend for walking on their site says “everyday running/ walking”. I know some people wear running shoes for walking and it’s fine but one article I read said that running specific shoes are designed to be lighter in weight so they have far less padding. It’s fine for short amounts of time they say but for long distances they are not the best choice.

    Best shoes for walking

I just ordered HOKA to try. Steer clear of Amazon for them some of the colors that are popular are way marked up. I found some that specifically said for walking on their site. One of my friends daughters is a nurse and said the nurses love them because they are so comfy and I figured if anyone would know it’s them working 12 hour shifts.

@draikaina8503 i really hope They underneath you for purée anyways. I have my fingers crossed for you. And I hope you get some answers and solutions about the blisters and the pain as well. To me, cottage cheese has a kinda weird consistency and it’s sorta salty. Which is odd because I like salt and my friend who always thinks things are too salty loves the stuff. I am waiting for soft foods because I found a list of things to mix in with it to make it taste better but for purée you can mix it in with eggs. The recipe is 1/4 cup with two eggs. I tried it and of course that’s more than we should eat so I saved it for the next day. It did dry out a bit if your super sensitive I would just make one at a time and estimate an eight if a cup. Thank you for reminding me about the ac. My husband said he was gonna call and ask them about the error code if we still needed a tech and he hasn’t mentioned anything. It’s still working but I need to make sure he didn’t forget to ask. Thanks for the heads up about the allergy tests. Sounds like I can pretty much do the same thing at home for free and just call for an ambulance if I need one. I assume that’s what they do as well. Take it easy with the Bending. I know the feeling of just wanting to do it yourself but I seen my NP today and asked what i can do in terms of housework. She said you have to be super careful engaging your abdominal muscles. She said I probably wouldn’t tear anything at this point but I could develop a hernia. And that’s another surgery with another recovery. Better to do a little while longer now then to have to start all over. Do you have one of them grabber things for picking stuff up? I got one at dollar tree that’s probably won’t last too long cause it’s plastic but it’s been fine for now. I had a metal one but I’m pretty sure it found its way to the garage and that’s the land of no return. They come in handy outside of surgery when something gets underneath things and is hard to reach too. The sticky stuff comes off easily with alcohol and the NP said today baby oil too. And you will sleep less and less as time goes on. Your body is just living on so few calories right now it thinks it’s starving and wants to hibernate. In terms of the routine it sounds like yours will have to be more flexible but you will figure it out I’m sure once we make the exercise and stuff a habit it’s just a matter of changing times of day to keep it up if other things come up We can do this Update. Glad to hear you get to start puree and that you do not have any infection. All of us seem to be making the little steps day by day towards getting back to our presurgery grove with our post surgery bodies. It’s so exciting!!

I would assume it’s fine. The only thing I would’ve questioned would be the shell on the beans but my purée specifically says refried beans are okay so that’s just purée beans. So long as the spice doesn’t bother you it should be okay. Assuming the meat really does purée well with no chunks.

I got some clarification on what to start with on soft foods. It’s basically anything that you can cut easily with the side of your fork but chewed really well of course. With the exception or broccoli and asparagus or celery. She said those tend to cause issues for some people so just don’t start with them. The in person meeting was actually cool. He had a planned topic to present and asked if we had questions about that and then he opened it up to ask any questions we had about anything. They have different people cover it each month but last night was the surgeon so that was kinda cool.
  7. My first day of soft foods is Labor Day and since they usually have snow crabs on sale I was thinking that would be a tasty choice for my first soft food. I just want to steer clear of the garlic butter. I tried googling for lighter ideas to dip it in but didn’t have any luck. I was thinking I could make it with I can’t believe it’s not butter light but I used to have a recipe. I’m pretty sure it had sautéed onions and it used broth. It wasn’t bad, I wish I had saved it. Anyways, anyone have a recipe like this or another idea of what to dip crab in? The more I search I think it may have been intended as a lobster or scampi sauce. I found one that may work but if anyone has one that they know is good I would really appreciate it.

    New to the forum

Hello and welcome. I am three weeks post sleeve revision to SADI and doing well. I’m sure people will be happy to hear your experiences and will be here to cheer you on during this phase of your journey as well.
  9. I would ask about the GLP-1 first and if that doesn’t fit for whatever reason then consider revision to Bypass or SADI. I am 3 weeks post sleeve to SADI revision and down 29 pounds. We had similar starting weights although I’m a bit taller than you. I was 235 when I did my sleeve and i gained it all back plus some so you are in a better boat than I was. Since you have alot less to lose that I did and you have kept a big chunk of the weight off I personally would try the GLP-1 first if it’s medically appropriate but that’s a decision your doctor will be able to help you make.

    Help guys

Yea. Technically I guess they do have them during my day since I am still menstruating but they didn’t have them when I was young either. I was pretty excited to see them. I ordered them when they only had one brand and they weren’t very comfortable for me but now they have all different cuts of panties. Not sure if the bleeding is heavy for hysterectomy (I assume it is) but I had a procedure to remove polyps and I woke up with a post partum pad and they are huge and uncomfortable during the day but the absolute best for sleeping. It’s really long so it doesn’t leak even with pretty heavy bleeding when you’re lying down. I asked the nurse for a few extras in case I needed them but the bleeding slowed pretty quick for me. I ended up giving my niece all the feminine products I had when I got the IUD and my periods stopped but I kept those big pads for any future procedures. My advice is to ask for a few more of them pads at the hospital and even their panty liners were better at their office than you can find in the store. The adhesive actually covers the whole width of them so it doesn’t try to fold in towards the middle like the ones that just have one line of adhesive down the middle. I asked them for a few of the liners at my post op as well and saved them for when I was going to be out and about. Bring your big purse. 😆 Ooh and if you need to do ice post op, there is an ice pack on Amazon that is actually made for your back but I have one and realized it works great for my post SADI incisions that are most painful which are low on the abdomen (I’m assuming that’s where they are for a hysterectomy). It Velcro’s around you like a belt that has a pouch for the ice pack. It also comes with a heat pack and works great for the intended use which is for low back pain. It’s called Magic Gel.

Need a substitute for garlic butter

Yea. The one I ordered says spicy lime I think. It says mild so that should be good for me. I’m excited to try it. I plan to have all of my options and do some taste testing.

    Help guys

Did you know they actually make period underwear now that absorbs the blood. They have it in several different brands that come in a number of different styles. An alternative I just did was to get a mirena IUD. For most people it stops the periods. They last 8 years now too so probably only one insertion and removal will carry you right into menopause.

Need a substitute for garlic butter

I really hope I do like it. I found a box of individual packs of it on Walmart just as cheap as a bottle. Figured if I do I can take it with me when I eat seafood out and if I don’t I can donate the unopened ones.

    Half Way There

I have to hand it to you that doesn’t sound fun but if you can do this, you’ve got this once you are back to normal food for sure!! It will all absolutely be so worth it!! Just keep reminding yourself just how much you deserve this. And check out the “weirdest non scale victories” thread if you haven’t already. Some inspiring changed to look forward to that may help keep you motivated. You’re doing awesome. You’ve got this.

    Lost Focus This Week

Well i just ordered one and I don’t even have a vacation planned. It is just so cool I want to get it before they sell out here too.

    Lost Focus This Week

You and me both and that’s the exact one that popped up when I just searched too. Then I went on to portable kitchen scales and collapsing measuring cups. I love just adding stuff to the cart and waiting when I go on tangents like this. Gives me a second to come to my senses about just how often I’m going to break out my portable scale at a restaurant. 😆

I must’ve missed something. Is there a travel scale that someone tried and it actually works?

    Sadi is so lonely

Wow. I am so thrilled for you to hear or your weight loss but more importantly the resolution of your comorbidities. That’s awesome. You should update your weight in your profile. You earned it!! Are you still losing or are you in maintenance at this point?
  21. Okay I am a second timer. I had gastric sleeve 3/9/21 and I gained it back. I am considering the SADI and I am looking for information about it. I have posted on the revision forums and the duodenal switch forum without response. Is this just a really rare procedure or am I posting in the wrong place? I worry that even if this is the right surgery for me I may regret it if I can’t find the support along the way because it is less common.

Really starting to feel like I am in a groove getting in all of my fluids, protein and vitamins. It’s no longer a huge struggle I have to constantly think about. I take my calcium with my morning proffee that I drink first thing that gives me a really good start at 20oz fluid, 30g protein and one vitamin down. (Just take the vitamin with the last sip as opposed to the first if your vitamin has a lot of iron) and I mix in a spoon of soluable fiber so I get that over with as well. While I’m drinking it I get out my three calcium’s for the day, take my stool softener and take my daily rx meds. The rest of the day is pretty easy. I don’t get up at a set time so I just make sure to wait at least two hours to take my calcium’s and just fit in all three like an hour before I plan to go to bed at which time I take my second stool softener and the magnesium she added for muscle cramps. If i am going to be out for the day I will set alarms for the calcium’s and put them in my purse during my proffee. . A long time ago I created alarms for every half hour of the day so that it’s super simple to just toggle on whichever alarms I may need in the morning and when it goes off I just have to figure out what I’m forgetting 😆 You may have to turn off the ”everyday” function so when you turn it off it’s really off but doing that has helped me with everything I have to remember since I get distracted pretty easily. This would be way easier if you get up at a set time because you could turn on that everyday function and set the alarm once and it’s done from then on. At this point I’m only reminded of the pain a handful of times throughout the day. The only thing that is still not easy for me is the 30 minute rule. I know that I was supposed to do that forever after my sleeve but around the time I gave up hope on that I started back with drinking while eating and it’s a really hard habit to break. I do find that if I brush after meals and swish water around and spit it out it helps some. Next step is soft foods I am so looking forward to this stage and at the same time anxious I will overdo it too fast. I believe I mentioned before I am a rule follower and prefer more structure “soft food” is a bit vague for me. I survived it last time, though so I’m sure it will be okay I really hope everyone else is recovering well if early out and starting to get in their groove as well if they are a little further out. Any tips that you guys have worked out to remember it all?

    Seatbelt pillow.

Just an update. I will be three weeks out tomorrow and I of course had to move it to the drivers side but I am still using this pillow. It helps keep it from running at this point and i hope that I don’t have to slam on the brakes but if I do I hope it helps some. 🤷🏼‍♀️
  24. I just got my seatbelt pillow today in time for surgery tomorrow morning. Velcro it in the car all ready to go. It looks like it going to be really helpful so I just wanted to share. It was on Amazon and it’s for Caesarian’s or Mastectomies. I just thought If it was fastened to the seatbelt it would be far less likely to shift in an accident (god forbid) leaving the seatbelt loose than my bed pillow . It was $19.99 for the one that could get here overnight. Here is the link if anyone is interested. https://a.co/d/8nw1RdU
