For one thing if you have Netflix or something similar where you can avoid commercials consider that instead of regular TV and if you like puzzles or crafts of any kind (even drawing or coloring) try that to keep your hands and a portion of your brain occupied. I crochet and that worked for me. When the cravings were strong I would pick up my project until it passed. Also try to avoid anything that will cause you stress or anxiety which may make you want to turn to food. Obviously that isn’t a tactic you can use long term. But at least until giving into your cravings won’t physically hurt your body. These things have worked for me so far. -
Okay so this may be premature but I ordered a pair of track pants which is pretty much what I live in for around the house in a XL (was a 2X) and instead of being tight in the waist they are okay there but tight in the hips. They are a different cut since they are all the skinny legs now so they are actually very fitted allover and maybe they just run smaller in the hips but now that I’m looking for that my thighs and hip area do look disproportionately large. I want to lose a little more before I wear them anyways but it’s just odd that it used to be my waist where things were snug and now it’s the hips. Wonder how many times my shape will change on the way down. Did anyone else experience loss in certain areas before others changing their shape a bit?

That’s awesome. I love it!! -
I totally understand the anxious mind, trust me. That’s awesome your weight loss. A great start to this truly amazing journey. I am a little over three weeks post op. Not sure I if I said that before but I have a friend of a friend that had her surgery like a year ago. I touched base with her today and told her how excited I am that I ordered pants that are a size smaller and they come today and they already Fit!! Also I ordered new walking shoes and my friend and I are planning to walk at the same time everyday and chat on the phone since we live over an hour apart. We are starting tomorrow. The goal is 30 minutes but I am going to just do loops around my block the first time so I’m not far from home if it’s too much. She replied and said that she has been biking several miles and that I will soon need to get myself a bike so I can join her. I was like no way. I’m wondering if I can do a half hour walk between the heat and my knees. She was like I started with 15 minutes walking and worked my way up. She said this surgery is Life Changing. She said she has SO much energy now and she feels amazing. She has lost well over100 pounds and has only 8 more to get to her goal. I Just thought I would share a positive story that you can take and try ti picture what your version of amazing looks like. Then you can use that when the anxiety starts to creep in. Seriously. I’m telling you. One step at a time. You’ve got this. ❤️

Hello everyone. I hope you all are having a more exciting kickoff to your holiday weekend than I am. (Hubby had to work half the night so I’m just here watching TV. I had two things I wanted to post but now I’m only remembering one for some reason. The first was my annoying stitch. Yes. I have this one stitch at the end of an incision that is sticking straight up and every-time my arm brushes across it the incision feels like it’s being pulled. Been driving me nuts for three days since the steri strip came off. Well I finally came up with a solution. Two shirts. It doesn’t poke through the second shirt so when brush past it doesn’t snag it. Not sure how common it is but just in case there it is. Ooh my second thing. Motivation for exercise. My good friend that lives in another city came up with a great idea to motivate us both to exercise. We are going to do it together. But instead of driving an hour each was everyday we are just going to walk at the same time and talk on the phone while we do it. We are starting tomorrow night. Just thought I would share in case that idea works for someone else. i hope everyone has a good night. -

Are you just doing the treadmill at the gym? If not you may want to double check with your team. I am not cleared for ten gym till 6 weeks. 8 weeks for anything with weights. I am absolutely thrilled for you that you are feeling so good. I Just don’t want you to hurt yourself because of something you didn’t know. -

Oh good. I ordered one from Amazon and only like a quarter of the book is recipes and there aren’t any pictures. The first theee parts is all about the surgery and the stages and stuff we would only want to learn from our doctors. Not a chef. Lol -

Well the lunch stuff I have already had in purée stage so it’s just the dinners that are new foods for me. But the more I thought about it it will be alot of wasted food since I am eating just a tiny bit and my husband won’t eat half of it. I think I am going to spread it out and use have leftovers for lunch instead of the other stuff. -

I was talking about the supplement but since you are the second person to mention the spice I think I am just going to try that route. Thanks. 😊 -
Pro Care Health one a day has 45mg iron in the multi and it’s reasonably priced it’s available at the store on this site but it’s a little cheaper on the manufacturer site if you subscribe for auto ship. Immediately post op though you will want a chewable and one with lower iron since your portions will be too small to stomach the higher iron. I liked Bariatric Advantage Chewable Multi for the first month. They are not bad tasting at all and I can take them on an empty stomach even. My team says it’s okay to switch to the capsule when I get to soft foods which will be just shy of the month. You will need a separate calcium. For that I can’t suggest the bariatric advantage calcium chews any more. The fruit ones taste just like starburst and the caramel is like a chewy worthier original. You have to thanks therse theee times a day so you will want them to taste good to you. Again that’s not the best one for the first month though. While they are chewable they are more the consistency of a starburst so you can’t really chew it till it dissolves. For the first month I went with the barimelts calcium chews and they are okay. There are 120 which will last you 40 days. I was allowed to switch these before then but I am gonna go ahead and use them since they do have all the calcium I need. You will end up with a whole other month of the chewable multivitamin I suggested if your dr says to switch at one month so do what you want to do with that. I am switching anyways but will save them for backup if mine are late to arrive or something. I had the sleeve 3.5 years ago and took that combo and never had any issues. You will get lots of suggestions on here though because there are so many and all the surgeons have different requirements. They will do labs. Most likely at 3 months and have you make adjustments to anything that is off anyways

Just got a pair of pants in the mail that are a smaller sixe and they actually Fit!! I think they are snug in the hips and said I needed to lose a bit more before wearing them but my husband said he’s pretty sure that’s how they are supposed to look. Regardless, I got them on and they are not uncomfortable. That’s a win in my book. -
My close friend lives In another city but we just made a pact to start walking at the same time each day and we are going to chat on the phone while we walk. We are planning to start tomorrow night. The goal is 30 minutes but I am going to just do laps around the block just in case that’s too much for me. She is pretty fit but she is going to take the dog and doesn’t want to overdo it with her until she builds her way up either so it works out. Maybe something like that could work to get you started. Honestly they probably really don’t even have to walk at the same time. Just someone who will be expecting your call, keep you distracted and cheer you on. I know i can text her back and forth for an hour and not even realize how long it’s been so I’m hoping it will be the same on the phone. My goal was to work up to be able to walk with a lady in my support group that walks 5 miles a day but I’m not sure if my friend is going to let me. She is already talking about eventually doing twice a day. 😆 Also if you prefer to do a gym check to see if you have like a community rec center. They are usually quite a bit cheaper.

If they don’t hurt you then go for it!! My NCIS ions still hurt though and the waist would run them and press on them. Just sounds painful. I am a revision too and had gallbladder out so more incisions and a couple I think they may have gone back in the same spot through scar tissue (not sure if that makes ot worse for healing). I just keep on trying to figure out why it’s so much worse this time because I’m telling you after my sleeve I was up bugging the nurses the same day and hime the next wanting to play Horse in basketball (I literally gestured to my husband to pass me the ball when I was out front talking to him. I forgot I had surgery). Soooo much differnt this time. -

Hey If they work they work. I was just curious how much actual Tumeric and Cinnamon were in them since the few I read the backs of online said to contact them for nutritional information. Thanks for the info. -
Best shoes for walking
ShoppGirl replied to ShoppGirl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Oh they do look comfy. I will check them out too. That’s for the suggestion and I hope you enjoy your vacation!! -
Thank you for that. I have a really hard time dealing with the heat and of course my temp goes way up when I exercise since I’m so out of shape. But the extra weight makes it way worse so I have stayed away from exercise for years. Being absolutely drenched in sweat is pretty gross for a female (I’m talking like hair soaked like I went in a pool sweat) and it’s so embarrassing for me that all I will do is my treadmill at home but that is so boring it never sticks. i am really going to try to just push past it though and start around the neighborhood because I know it will get much better when I lose a bit and get more in shape. This lady at my in person support group walks like 5 miles a day and she suggested walking together. I think I need to start on my own for while but I know that it would be great for me to have someone to do it with so that’s the goal is to walk with her. For now. Hopefully the gym is in my future though. Weird Question, if your hair does get sweaty do you wash it with shampoo everyday or just rinse it with water really well or what. I have oily hair and it took sooooo long for me to get to the point that I could to every other day shampooing but when I was doing the treadmill everyday I was washing it daily and every hairdresser I have been to says it’s not good to wash it daily.

And I am having to mentally pump myself up and buy new shoes just to walk around the block So sad. 😆

Maybe start with a short stroll around the block. If you go during before or after work hours you will see lots of people out walking dogs and working on their yards and stuff to make it go by faster. Or that’s my hopes at least. lol. I ordered my shoes and plan to start as soon as they get here. ooh and try mixing some cottage cheese into your eggs before you cook them. Makes them creamier and ups the protein. -
I mean, at this point I give up trying to figure it out...
ShoppGirl replied to SleeveToBypass2023's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I’m pretty sure that it’s the ones that are more concerned with their patients statistics. Just as the surgeon looks good with low complication rates, it makes their program look good for their patients to lose a higher percentage of excess weight. -
Mine was because of regain post sleeve. My surgeon said that the sleeve is a really great procedure and it works great for so many people but obesity is complex and some people just need a little more of a metabolic change to be successful. I have the added complexity of bipolar disorder and anxiety. The depressive episodes and the anxiety cause me to make less healthy choices and some of the meds that go with it that cause weight gain as well. I went with the sleeve because of the meds and it causing less absorption issues and it was certainly wise to try it first but it just wasn’t the right choice for me. I just revised to SADI three weeks ago and according to my NP I am doing great in terms of loss for a revision and my recovery. I certainly feel great and I am not craving sweets which was another reason I think I regained. It’s not at all common according to my surgeon (usually it’s the opposite and sweet cravers stop craving them) but post sleeve I went from a savory person to one that craved sweets. During the liquids stage post sleeve my cravings were for various deserts. Post SADI I am craving Fish Tacos and apples with Nut Butter so I think that may have reversed itself which will make things sooooo much easier.

If you have in person support groups you may also be able to find an exercise buddy. I met a lady the other night at mine and we exchanged numbers so we can walk together if I can handle the heat. She does 5 miles a day so I won’t be able to do the whole time witb her right away but hopefully she won’t mind backtracking a bit or I can just turn back alone until I can get caught up to her distance wise. I plan to see what I actually can do to start on my own so I don’t kill myself trying to keep up with her though but wheni had the sleeve I never did exercise or go to support meetings and this time I’m three weeks out and already ordered my walking shoes. The support groups really do work.

Oh awesome idea, thanks. Is any old spice that you get at the grocery fine or do you get a better quality one or something? -

🤣 🤣. Not trying to torture anyone still early out Just figured it may give everyone some ideas and something to look forward to. Plus wanted to make sure it looks good to everyone else. After looking for recipes I think the brussel sprouts may not be soft enough quite yet.
