Going to Red Lobster at 4 weeks post op
ShoppGirl replied to Nanagrrl3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn’t think the dumping was really a thing with the sleeve but haven’t had anything really fattening or greasy yet. Guess I have that to look forward to. -

Any March 2021 Sleeve Patients?
ShoppGirl replied to LoveSimcha's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Not sure if a lot of people know this (I didn’t) but you can go back to hospital as an out patient and get fluids. They put you in room with a chair and tv and hook you up to same iv you had in hospital. I had to go get two bags of fluids after I got home. I called dr and said urine was dark and they called hospital to set it up.just so you know it’s an option of you can’t correct it at home. -

Any March 2021 Sleeve Patients?

I have the Baritastic app installed but hadn’t started using it yet because my team hasn’t given me calorie goal yet. Just protein and amount of ounces to consume although I’m sure it’s not much because i am still on soft food diet so it’s just meat and veggies. Well, plus two protein drinks which is 250 calories but one of those is a shake and I have it for breakfast most days. I just started Baritastfic when you mentioned it today though so I will let you know. -
Thank you both for requesting a glossary and for repinning. I definitely needed it.

Any March 2021 Sleeve Patients?

My sleeve was March 9th and my weight loss has stalled as well. Several people on here say that the three week stall seems to be a common thing. We can hang in there together. -

Sleevers....What brand multi vitamin are you taking?

That is calcium carbonate. My dietician said I needed calcium citrate. Has it worked fine for you? I want something cheaper and that’s definitely a better deal so I want to switch if it will work for me. -
Any April 2021 surgeries?!

As someone who has had untreated and poorly treated bipolar for a number of years until recently and has had the surgery I think I agree that if you are right, until she is medicated and things calm down a bit it would be difficult for a parent to focus on themselves enough to make the surgery work for you right now. You can still focus on eating healthy and not gaining as best as you can and set a specific time to revisit the idea though. Best of luck with your daughter. There are very good medications out there. Just need to keep working to find the right one. Talk therapy helped me as well. You may want to mention weight concern to the doctor since obesity is genetic and mood stabilizers and anti depressants have a tendency to cause weight gain. There are a few that cause less. -
Does your dietician host support group meetings about nutrition. I am thinking of going to one before I hit real food stage.

I had this on the liquid phase as well but not three times a day. You may want to talk to your team so you don’t get dehydrated during a time when it’s so hard to get in fluids.

Do you take the potassium and vitamin d because you were low since the surgery or did you already take those? What brand calcium chews? -
I was offered coffee in the hospital the morning after surgery. When I asked about it thinking it was a mistake he said one cup is fine to have per day.

Pre surgery tests
ShoppGirl replied to FindingShan_vsg's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My nurse was nice about it but I had same deal. I didn’t drink after midnight except for the Gatorade my surgeon bas you drink three hours prior and I went pee twice before I went so they did a blood test. They just have to ask for it stat which they don’t love to do but my surgery went on at scheduled time. -

Snow crab legs also naturally take forever to eat so win win. -
Before surgery I mixed a gallon of crystal light a day (128 oz) and I didn’t try....that’s just how much I drank. Post surgery I have to force myself to drink 64 oz. I just don’t feel thirsty so I forget and of course when I do remember I can only drink a little bit. Does THIRST feeling ever come back? Any one else that doesn’t feel thirsty?? It seems so weird that making stomach smaller interferes with thirst unless grehlin is involved?? Just curious.

Dehydration after sleeve
ShoppGirl replied to Mark P3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went back to the hospital as an outpatient to get fluids. I just called my doctors office and they said it up well they had the hospital call me and set an appointment that same day and I got two bags of fluids. -
I don’t know of any pills but you should be able to drink more and more each day. I didn’t reach my fluid or protein goals the first few days either. They do make clear protein drinks that aren’t thick shakes but more like water if that is easier to get down. Premier protein makes one with 20g protein in like 17oz drink. They have fruit punch and peach flavor on Amazon. Those were a life saver for me cause the protein shakes are mostly all too sweet. Although I did later learn that premier proteins’ strawberry and caffe latte (has caffeine) aren’t as sweet and I have one a day now.

I am so sorry for your loss. I lost my dad to suicide and it is very tough. I found that time was the only thing that really helped. It went from being the first and last thing I thought about each day to being the second thing and so on. Now I am finally able to think of him and smile. You are already a step ahead of me though at this point. I let the stigma of suicide keep me from talking in the beginning which is what we need to heal. I was already in therapy and I felt that helped me a lot as well but that may be because I wasn’t taking to anyone else. Still, Something to consider.

I cleared a path from one end of house to the other and I would just start walking when I felt head hunger. Just back and forth from one end to the other for about five minutes was long enough to distract me and then I would go back to whatever I was doing. I also do this while I’m on the phone or if I have any anxiety and according to Apple Watch I get like 30 exercise minutes a day without really trying.

Yea back pain is difficult for some to empathize about because you can’t see the pain. I was in car accident and had back and neck pain and remember even getting eye rolls when I talked about it cause i looked young and healthy as can be. I’m glad you are back on track and 8 blocks is great. Woo Hoo!!

I am so worried about this. My hair is fine already. Glad to hear stories of it stopping. Thanks for sharing.

I did it too and I feel like most of that weight came off real easy during pre op diet cause I lost 14 pounds pre op and I started with lower BMI. Forgive yourself and move on.
