I had the same concern. Everyone says you feel the real restriction when you get to solid foods. I’m not there yet but also learned that most people eat about 6 times a day on the puréed and liquid diets.

Any April 2021 surgeries?!
ShoppGirl replied to KidaandRoux's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I like the premier protein clear because it has 20 grams of protein for In the beginning at least cause it’s so hard to get in the protein. I only found on Amazon in two flavors so I may switch to another brand once I can get some solid foods in through. -
Any March 2021 Sleeve Patients?

I had my bday the day before pre op diet started and I celebrated early so I didn’t have to go from restaurant food to liver shrinking diet overnight. I guess you have to skip the big meal alltogether this year. It will be well worth it though. Best gift you could ever give yourself. Happy Borthday. 🥳 -

Welcome. My surgery was 3/9 and I found this community just before that. I am so glad I did. The tips and tricks are great but the support in general is incredible. Comgrats on your surgery. -

I’m guessing they meant pre op diet. Or pre op appointment at hospital (some people have a separate appt for that). -

Support you will get. This group is amazing. Just keep touching base and you will have an entire community with you each step of the way. Best of luck. -
I am two weeks post op Tuesday and I eat two ounce portions but I eat more than three times a day. Am I eating too much? I feel like the purée food just goes right through and my belly never feels full. I am still losing weight??

Thank you. I was trying to do three but I was doing four or five and wanting more. I thought I was never going to be successful if I was still this hungry and not supposed to be.

Tips for getting 64oz of water daily
ShoppGirl replied to Mark P3's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
They also sell water bottles with the little marks on them on Amazon for when your back to work. You should be past the medicine cup stage by then. I found that the clear protein drinks are great cause they meet two goals with one drink. -
Your doctor should have someone on call for things like that. If you are still concerned I would call them.

Your doctor will most likely have someone on call. I suggest you Call now.

Don’t buy too many protein shakes ahead of time because your tastes may change. Also immediately after tastes are heightened so to me the protein shakes were too sweet. I found the clear protein drinks to be easier to get down. -

After surgery I found that the protein shakes were too sweet. I have been drinking the clear protein drinks (premier protein) and am slowly going back to one shake a day since they are more nutritious. Broth that you mix yourself is good so you can adjust it to your tastes which will change and for full liquid stage the cream of soups were my go to (I mixed them with milk to make them a little creamier and I was able to add spices as tolorated so that helped). But definitely recommend having some clear protein in case the shakes won’t go down as easy as expected. -

Best things people told me to bring were pajama pants (forget a robe cause all the wires make that impossible) you will want to cover up when walking around and phone or iPad. I watched Netflix and played games while awake but slept a lot as well. You don’t need much more than that. Seriously. Good luck. 🍀 -
Mine was the same. The pain medication causes constipation for some but not everyone.

My best advice is to walk as much as you can after surgery as soon as you are able. And listen to your body. Rest when you need rest and don’t do anything you know your shouldn’t. You got this 👍

Any Tips for Buying a Food Scale and other supplies?
ShoppGirl replied to Blueslily's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I also did use a food chopper a couple times to purée eggs for egg salad and you can also make chicken salad and tuna salad but I wasn’t a huge fan of the consistency. My husband on the other hand liked the tuna better than way so idk (he had it in bread though so maybe that was the difference) Hamilton Beach Mini 3-Cup Food Processor & Vegetable Chopper, 350 Watts, for Dicing, Mincing, and Puree, Black (72850) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06Y2GZWCJ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_5HMTMSECCG8D4VX2E5RD?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 But the scale and the two ounce cups were all that I have really used. I also put a TV tray next to my bed because it’s easier to get to than my nightstand but I already had that in my craft room. -

Not sure if they all do this but on mine you can use your own bowl or plate and set to zero on empty so it doesn’t count the weight of it. This is good if you want to use whatever dish you will be using anyways. I am the only one that eats it at my house and I don’t like it leftover so when I get home from store I let it thaw a bit more and I cut it in half or in thirds and put back on freezer so I can take out just the portion I want. I guess after surgery I may need to cut even smaller.

Those 2 oz “dressing cups” work great for us.
ShoppGirl posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Someone else posted the idea with a picture of her eggs In it and i said then how clever it was but I felt it worth mentioning again as I pulled my dressing cups out today to portion out my faux lasagna (a lasagna recipe without noodles someone also shared on this wonderful site that works great for purée stage to satisfy italian craving) https://bariatricbits.com/single-serve-baked-ricotta/ Anyways, I got mine in 100 pack on Amazon with lids but they have all different quantities and They work perfectly. Especially since I don’t know my pre full trigger yet it’s a good way to know when it’s time to SLOW down and be careful and it’s just about perfect amount for me. Another Helpful tip it’s also 1/4 cup which is one serving of shredded cheese so I toss one in the bag when I open it. -
Walmart has cauliflower crust now two in a pack for $6.50. It’s in the gluten free section not with the pizza.
-
I believe the cafe late has caffeine and some doctors do not allow that early on cause it’s a diuretic. Just check with your team.
-
Someone else mentioned it but said they couldn’t find it. They sell premier protein clear on Amazon in 12 pack in Peach and Fruit punch. It is the only thing that has got me through these first stages meeting protein and liquid cause it’s in one.

Any March 2021 Sleeve Patients?

Soon the pain goes but the fatigue continues for a bit. I look at it as a good thing since we heal while we rest. I will be two weeks post op on Tuesday and I am still taking naps. Several since I am a light sleeper and don’t get as much as I need the first time but I don’t have to work and no kids so I am lucky enough to be able to. Just have a huge mess of a house to clean once I’m up to it from hubby being left alone for two weeks. Bless his heart but he is no housewife.
