ShoppGirl replied to Tim C's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

How often do you weigh yourself?
ShoppGirl replied to ruthpets's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am less than 3 weeks post op so I still weigh everyday. I think once I get to maintenance I will switch to once a week (or try to. Lol) -
Lost all of my 2020 regain in the past 2 months!
ShoppGirl replied to _Shane_'s topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
Good job. Keep up the good work. -
I agree that it would probably be a bad idea during the weight loss phase and even worse idea during healing phase. If your anything like me you may not be able to control the cravings and you could hurt yourself. But I’m sure Down the road that won’t be an issue but there may be another medical reason to not do it. I would ask your doctor just in case.

Any tips on minimizing scars after getting sleeved?
ShoppGirl replied to LRJ's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Where is the jealous emoji, lol. I hope I don’t have to much excess skin cause dr says I don’t have enough to lose to qualify for insurance to help and idk If I can afford it. I don’t do bikinis anymore though cause I had skin cancer anyways so I should be okay. I guess we will see how it goes. -
Congratulations. Sounds like your super busy so I’m sure it will fly by.

Awesome!! Keep it up.

Gastric sleeve and loss of taste
ShoppGirl replied to ngmancini's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I agree you should talk to your doctor because my tastes are super heightened also. If it hadn’t been since January I would ask if it was possibly a symptom of covid because it doesn’t sound like any side effect of surgery that I have ever heard about. -
I called the dr office to ask a question and when I told her dr cleared me to have non puréed food she was surprised and also I misunderstood and I was NOT supposed to have pasta or anything doughy and I had pasta and a burrito. She said this can cause a Bolis?? Now I am super nervous that I hurt myself. I don’t have any pain as of now but I am so anxious.

How long did you have to wait for your initial consult?
ShoppGirl replied to DoodlesMom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wonder how they get your height and weight. Maybe because of COVID they can just ask you what it is?? -
Misunderstood and ate what I shouldn’t.
ShoppGirl replied to ShoppGirl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I just talked to the nurse practitioner she thinks I will be okay if I have no pain so far but she I was just way off track on what I should be eating right now which I already realized. I skimmed the page and seen Pasta under soft foods and did not read the DO NOT part. I feel super stupid for misreading it but what’s done is done I guess. I just have to do what I am supposed to do from now on. -

Thank you for realizing that I know this was a mistake and offering suggestions and help. I called the dr office and told them how embarrassed I am that I misread and asked if there is anything I can do or do I have to just wait and see. The nurse practitioner is supposed to call me. Hopefully before she leaves today. -
A month after sleeves and flatulence nonstop for 3 days
ShoppGirl replied to jadore's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Haven’t reached a month yet but hopefully I will not have similar experience. Please update when you figure it out for those of us that are close behind you. -

Any March 2021 Sleeve Patients?
ShoppGirl replied to LoveSimcha's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I’m similar. Haven’t felt the restriction yet. And someone else told me that you feel it more once you get to solid food. I haven’t got there yet so idk but that’s what I was told by someone on here. -
I had six including the pin prick one. Three are about an inch, two are like 3/4 inch.
-
Tiny. My largest one is just over an inch and the smallest looks like a pin prick. I’m guessing in a year I won’t be able to find them.

Getting Sleeve and Spouse/Family support
ShoppGirl replied to Ruddigore's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I would have your wife go with you to talk to your doctor and ask her questions. As for the 80% divorce rate i’m pretty sure it also says it makes a good marriage better and a bad marriage worse. Maybe that will help her feel better about it. -
I am running out of ideas of what to eat at this stage. Can I have a burrito? Soft taco? Other suggestions please.
-
Talk to your doctors about any issues and hang in there. It’s well worth it.

Any April 2021 surgeries?!
ShoppGirl replied to KidaandRoux's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
They are expensive but it’s an investment in yourself. Most nutritionists try to get you off the shakes as soon as possible and getting your protein from real food. To do that you will be spending more on food though so just keep that in mind. These are not really temporary expenses. They are lifelong commitments. -
Any good post op pureed/liquid food recommendations?
ShoppGirl replied to Lahela's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I made chicken In the insta pot at that stage and it was very moist. I think that is the point of using canned. Maybe your dietitian will allow that. -
Starting my wls journey but I dislike the dietitian at the clinic.
ShoppGirl replied to lussa's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Before surgery I met with the dietician once to explain the pre op and post op diets. Then in the hospital I seen a different one that briefly explained the post op stuff again. I haven’t seen or needed to see her since. -
Diet changes leading up to surgery
ShoppGirl replied to NewMe_2021's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You may also want to try not drinking 30 minutes before or after meals a few times although you don’t have to do that in the beginning because food is not solid but it was good for me to just know o could do it. Also don’t forget no straws. -
How long did you have to wait for your initial consult?
ShoppGirl replied to DoodlesMom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine was less than two weeks. Maybe they have a cancellation list that could get you in sooner. Or another doctor at the practice??
