They make a patch that goes behind your ear for nausea. I had it in hospital in addition to iv medication but I bet you could have that or some other rx pills. I would call your dr. Why suffer needlessly.

Another thing anyone can do is ask for the lunch portion of things. I used to do it all the time when I dieted.

I found something like that on Amazon. It’s a plastic card like a credit card size.

Curious... How long before you could eat your first piece of pizza?
ShoppGirl replied to FINFAN3DP's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am three weeks post op and I crave pizza when I see it on tv. That ricotta bake mentioned above really does help satisfy Italian cravings (pizza, lasagna, spaghetti, etc). -
I’m guessing but it probably has to do with your body starting to hang onto weight more because of possible pregnancy at that point.

Taking pills after surgery
ShoppGirl replied to lizonaplane's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I think the best way to look at it is for a couple weeks at least after surgery your life WILL mostly revolve around your surgery and the fact that you’ve had surgery (getting in your meds, protein, fluids, etc). You will be inconvenienced for a short while but that won’t last forever and it will be worth it in the long run. Each day it gets a little easier and you figure it out as you go. The important thing for me was to know that worst case even if I had to spend all day taking my meds it WAS possible to get them down...somehow. -
Taking pills after surgery
ShoppGirl replied to lizonaplane's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have bipolar as well and although I am not on quite so many pills now that I finally found the right combination for me, i have taken so many over the years I can swallow them without water even if I have to. I went ahead and crushed my meds to try it before surgery to help alleviate my concerns about this and while they didn’t taste great they were palatable with a spoonful of applesauce (they sell the crusher thing at Walmart but you could probably do it with the back of a spoon just to test it). i didn’t even think about it the morning after surgery and I swallowed two of the pills she handed me together at the same time with no issue and now I am three weeks out and I take 3-4 at a time with no issues (I could probably do more if I tried). You may be a little different and it may take a little less or more time but ultimately you will get there. I am already up to drinking half a glass of water pretty easily with only three weeks under my belt so you should be back to swallowing handfuls before you know it. 😆 -
I am in purée/ soft food stage (sorta in between) and I noticed a little constipation the other day and dr office said to take fiber so I did all day yesterday but then I didn’t go at all. After surgery they said if you didn’t go for two days it was the start of a big deal is this the same now? Should I just take the milk of magnesia after two days like right afterwards. Is getting enough fiber going to be a lifelong challenge?

TMI, but concerned about bowel movements
ShoppGirl replied to ShoppGirl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Update for those who may be following with similar issues. The fiber seems to be helping quite a bit (3 servings/ day). Along with drinking coffee when I do skip a days movement. I am assuming I can lower the amount of fiber and possibly eliminate eventually as I am able to consume more fiber rich foods. -
There are some recipes out there for fresh fish packets too. Although those do look convenient to have on hand.

Starting out on Soft Food Diet
ShoppGirl replied to ShoppGirl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
That’s soooooo much better than what I got. What I got mostly lists what not to have but it’s too vague for me. I am a stickler. Thanks again!! -
When I asked my dr what weight he expected me to get down to he asked what I weighed in high school and said a weight 20 pounds higher than that without exercise and same as high school with exercise. Based on that conversation I don’t think you will get smaller than high school. At least that’s not the norm for my doctors patients. If that makes sense.

Starting out on Soft Food Diet
ShoppGirl replied to ShoppGirl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Ooh no I meant on the soft food diet. The dietician said chicken, Turkey, fish and eventually lean ground beef were okay and after I hung up I thought wow I can’t make a whole Turkey for just me. Even a breast cause it won’t be moist enough left over. Thank you though. -

Gastric Sleeve BMI 35
ShoppGirl replied to rastapl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My BMI was 36 and I am three weeks post op and also think I am taller than they measured me (posture just bad with heavier breasts) so I may have been 35 BMI. I wish I had done it sooner and just paid for it cause the younger you have it the less lose skin you will have. -

My pre-op diet was similar and I only went like every other day. -

I have that one. I used it during the purée stage. It’s delicious. In fact I am making more tonight. I just made a pan of it and put it in the 2oz cups because I didn’t have any ramekins and that worked fine. -
1st Denial due to weight gain from medication
ShoppGirl replied to sleepyowl85's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would ask your prescribing doctor to write something saying you are on rx that causes weight gain and give that to insurance with other appeal paperwork. -
It will get easier. I craved food when I was watching tv because I always ate them out of boredom and at first I had to do other things to distract myself but now I can watch tv without too many cravings and when I do have them I walk back and forth from one end of the house to the other for about five minutes and that seems to help for some reason. Whatever your habits are will change to newer, healthier habits and it will be well worth it.
