  1. I used to drink a 12 pack of Coke Zero daily. I thought I would miss it soooo much but I quit three months before surgery in case I had trouble (switched to Crystal light) since surgery though I drink water and don’t miss the crystal light or the soda one bit. I actually PREFER the water. The artificial sweeteners are too sweet so I bet if I tried a soda I wouldn’t even like it.

    Any April 2021 surgeries?!

I talked to my gynecologist about this surgery and he said he has known sooooo many women to have it and even those who have experienced complications still are glad they went through with the surgery. It would be interesting to know if that’s the same case with the community here.
  3. Sorry. Brain fart. I was thinking calcium but reading and saying vitamin C (thinking same thing). Sorry.
  4. I thought it was the iron in the multivitamin that we had to separate from vitamin c by a couple hours because it prevents the vitamin c from absorbing as well. You don’t take them together do you? If so and you notice vitamin c levels are low keep that in mind as possible reason.

    Lettuce-9 months post op

I am still only 3 weeks out but I had an acquaintance at bowling who’s brother was a gastroenterologist I think...anyways he said that lettuce is very hard for our bodies to digest and the chopped greens (you can buy them that way at supermarkets now) are easier. Maybe that will help.
  6. Only thing my dr told me about was soda so far. Popcorn also makes sense though.

    No Weight Loss

I am experiencing the “three week stall” right now. Rest assured though, you can’t eat what we are eating and not lose weight. I think our bodies just fight it cause they literally Think we are trying to die.

    Ignored

I am fortunate enough to have the support of my husband and best friend but that is all I told. Between them and this site I feel like I have all the support that I need. I agree that you will not feel ignored on this site if you give it time because this has been the most supportive group of people I have ever known. i have only been a member for like three weeks now and I am already talking about constipation with more ease than with my own spouse...and getting helpful responses about it too. And when I messed up and ate food I wasn’t supposed to it was this site that calmed my anxiety that I had ruined everything. We are all humans but have so much more in common here. If you still feel isolated and ignored consider talking to the therapist for your team. They truly do have a lot to offer during this journey and a big part of it is taking care of your emotional health.
  9. GREAT...i am Not looking foreword to this being a chronic thing. This is the first time I have ever dealt with this and it is NO fun!! Thank god for the help of you people cause idk who I would ask otherwise. Not exactly a comfortable conversation.
  10. I had two different cosmetic surgeons. One for breasts and one to remove skin cancer and both said to use Vaseline so I asked bariatric surgeon if that was okay yet at post op appt and he said it’s fine. It may have been okay to use as soon as steri strips fell off but I forgot to ask beforehand so I just waited since I’m not super concerned about scars on belly. Can’t wear bikini anyways cause of skin cancer.
  11. Okay so I just found something that may help me and others in the purée stage with getting fiber. Oikos yogurt has 3g per serving. I don’t love Greek yogurt but I checked mine and it has none (my husband had the Greek stuff and he pointed it out) so I added a packet of Splenda and it’s isn’t super horrible that way. Tastes better than milk of magnesia. I read that we should try to get 5G per 1000 calories so I am gonna try to get one of those in a day and hopefully that will help.
  12. My surgery weight was 220. Idk what my goal weight is. I’m sorta scared to set one. I have lost 8 pounds in 19 days since surgery it was about a pound every two days but now I seem to have stalled.
  13. Well I didn’t ask about COVID risk exactly but he did agree it was good idea to get COVID vaccine when it was made available to me two weeks post op. I would’ve been sorta peeved about that too.
  14. Chewable bariatric advantage multivitamin and calcium citrate chews so far. I read others lists and worry I may have to add more though.
  15. I am less than 3 weeks post op so I still weigh everyday. I think once I get to maintenance I will switch to once a week (or try to. Lol)
  16. Good job. Keep up the good work.

    Herbals After Bypass

I agree that it would probably be a bad idea during the weight loss phase and even worse idea during healing phase. If your anything like me you may not be able to control the cravings and you could hurt yourself. But I’m sure Down the road that won’t be an issue but there may be another medical reason to not do it. I would ask your doctor just in case.
  18. Where is the jealous emoji, lol. I hope I don’t have to much excess skin cause dr says I don’t have enough to lose to qualify for insurance to help and idk If I can afford it. I don’t do bikinis anymore though cause I had skin cancer anyways so I should be okay. I guess we will see how it goes.

Gastric sleeve and loss of taste

I agree you should talk to your doctor because my tastes are super heightened also. If it hadn’t been since January I would ask if it was possibly a symptom of covid because it doesn’t sound like any side effect of surgery that I have ever heard about.
  22. I called the dr office to ask a question and when I told her dr cleared me to have non puréed food she was surprised and also I misunderstood and I was NOT supposed to have pasta or anything doughy and I had pasta and a burrito. She said this can cause a Bolis?? Now I am super nervous that I hurt myself. I don’t have any pain as of now but I am so anxious.
  23. I wonder how they get your height and weight. Maybe because of COVID they can just ask you what it is??
  24. I just talked to the nurse practitioner she thinks I will be okay if I have no pain so far but she I was just way off track on what I should be eating right now which I already realized. I skimmed the page and seen Pasta under soft foods and did not read the DO NOT part. I feel super stupid for misreading it but what’s done is done I guess. I just have to do what I am supposed to do from now on.
