Surgery on 9/16. Anybody with Bipolar to ease my mind?
ShoppGirl replied to lovetaralyn's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yea I went through a week or two where I felt very low energy but I think that was typical for just about everyone. I would still give your psychiatrist the heads up that you may be needing adjustments especially if you have needed them for weight fluctuations In the past but like I said so far so good. Fingers crossed. -
Surgery on 9/16. Anybody with Bipolar to ease my mind?
ShoppGirl replied to lovetaralyn's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I also have bipolar and I am 5 weeks out and feel the same/ similar to before surgery. I have lost 15 pounds since surgery but 29 total in 7 weeks (I have lower BMI so I am a slow loser). All I can say is so far so good. I am still waiting for the sudden increase in energy and mood to happen and that has not yet happened for me but I don’t feel any Deep depression or anything like that if that’s what you were concerned about. I know I was a bit worried about that. -
March 9th here. I am fairly new as well. Welcome.

What is the first thing you eat or drink everyday?

Cafe latte protein shake and sometimes a hard boiled egg if I feel hungry afterwards. -

What can I say to my work!

I believe it was hiatal hernia that would explain the diet post op if people also see you eat. -
What am I do wrong? Did I make a mistake
ShoppGirl replied to Mark P3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Day 20, sounds like the infamous three week stall I recently learned about but it happens to so many people here. I had it as well. It lets up. Just be patient. Congrats on the 20 pounds. -
I felt like I could eat more than they suggested until I got to soft foods (that’s when I first felt the restriction). It’s best to just stick to what your team recommends though as you are still healing and don’t want to push it.

I actually preferred clear protein after my surgery cause the shakes taste too sweet. I can tolorate premier protein strawberry and cafe latte (has caffeine) but in the beginning I did a shake and clear protein drinks each day to get in my protein goal. I like the premier protein fruit punch but have to admit it’s the only one I’ve tried. The shakes and the clear protein count towards fluid and protein goals.

Wow. Good to hear a story about someone surpassing their original goal. Congrats.

It varies significantly what is required. I had one meeting with dietician and a psychiatrist and that was it. -

Idk. I even told him that I didn’t use it for BC (husbands had vasectomy) so technically I COULD go off it but would rather not and he said it wasn’t necessary.

I did not have to stop taking my pill at all. I guess like Everything else it varies from one surgeon to the next.

I am due for my second COVID vaccine tomorrow and have heard from a couple people that if not super hydrated it causes headaches and I’m a little concerned because it takes all my might to get in 64oz and I can’t get more than that. Anyone else have issues with not being hydrated enough post surgery and side effects?

What is life like after?
ShoppGirl replied to DD87's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don’t think it’s silly to do before having children. Having surgery while younger will obviously decrease your chance of comorbidities that occur with long term obesity but you will also have less excess skin having surgery at a younger age. You will have to be careful sticking to your new way of eating throughout pregnancy but that would probably be better for the baby than a bunch of processed junk anyways. Think about it, thin women get pregnant all the time and lose the weight afterwards relatively quick after. If you do a poll on this site most women will say their only regret about the surgery is not doing it sooner. -
I agree with lizonaplane. At first glance I just read caffeine and thought about coffee or soda but they tablets may cause their own issues or they could be harmless. I would be certain to clarify.

I am five weeks out and on the BC pill to regulate my period. I have been having breakthrough bleeding daily ever since surgery. Not enough to need any products, just enough to notice on the tissue every time I go pee. I am glad to know that it’s probably surgery related cause I was beginning to wonder.

Thank you for your responses. I went yesterday at 1pm and so far so good so I think I am in the clear. I drank as much water as I could yesterday which was 80 ounces and I was floating (weird cause pre surgery I drank a gallon a day). Anyways, I figured if I were going to have symptoms I would have woke up this morning with them and I feel fine so hopefully I was worried about nothing. Thanks again for calming my nerves.

Good idea asking for a box so they wouldn’t know how much you ate. They also would believe that you like it or you wouldn’t want to bring it home.
