If your friend is cheering you on, ask her to chat with you while you walk or do your bike. I know I said it but that’s how I got out going around the neighborhood which was my first baby step towards doing a group class. I was already out and about in my exercise clothes so I was one step closer to feeling comfortable being in the the group. The other day I was in my exercise clothes after yoga, all sweaty even because yes I do get sweaty even though I’m the only one who seems to. Anyways, I stopped at UPS to do my Amazon returns on my way home. In the past I wouldn’t have dared go in like that but I’m kinda getting past worrying about what people think. It was either do that or double back after I went home and showered but I only had so much time to shower and eat and I didn’t want to be late to my crochet group just because of not wanting to go in like that. I will keep a brush in the car for future incidents though, sweaty and disheveled is a little worse. Anyways, you will get there. Baby steps.

Did you tell your team about the changes in your stool. It sounds like they are trying to help with the nausea and the constipation but that sounds like something they should be aware of. Especially if it’s more than once. It could be something simple like one of the meds you are taking causing it but the doctor will know. If you are able to eat some foods, what about high protein yogurts or unflavored protein powder added to things? Also, if you are not getting enough fluids it could actually be causing your nausea. It’s sort of a catch 22. The more nausea you feel the less you drink but the more dehydrated you get the more nauseous. Do you have other signs of dehydration like darker urine? And have to talked to the Doctor or NP or just the front desk. Maybe schedule an appointment if not and just be sure that the medical team is getting all of the details because sometimes when trying to type it out in an email or whatever things get left out. It’s okay to be the squeaky wheel right now, you are struggling. Their job is not just to chop you up and put your back together. It’s to get you through the healing process too. That includes getting you back to being able to eat and function normally. You will get there. ❤️

    Psych evaluation?

Absolutely. I had the sleeve four years ago and now the revision and you definitely want to make sure that you’re in a good place with your mental health because it takes just as much mental energy as it does physical to deal with all the changes you will be going through. It’s like a whole new lifestyle post surgery if you’re doing it right. They are really great changes, but it is still alot in short time. Be honest and trust their judgment- they have done this a lot of times and they just want to make sure that you’re in the right headspace when they do it so that you can be most successful immediately post surgery to keep you safe but also long term so that you will be successful in your weight loss. One thing I did too was to ask my team if it would be okay for me to just check in with them a little more often than they typically require. They agreed to that and it has made the process a lot less stressful this time. I just get super anxious about everything and medical stuff is even worse so stuff like this creates a million questions and it’s hard when you call the front desk and they don’t know about your mental health for them to not be annoyed when you call a bunch of times. This time I just go in and have a chat with the NP about all my concerns and she reassures me everything is fine and I’m on my way. Also, you will want to let your prescribing Dr know about your surgery at some point if you haven’t already. They will want to check in with you a couple of times post op because sometimes with the absorption changes in the body your medication doses may need to be adjusted a bit. And keep posting on here. There are so many people who have been through anything you may have a question or fear about or if you just want to vent about a stall. People are so wonderful here and eager to help. Staying active on here and the in person support groups has really helped me. Im excited for you. It’s a pretty incredible journey and you will get there soon enough.

Sorry, didn’t mean to make you panic about pregnancy. It’s probably not that but just be conscious that it’s a possibility. Funny you mentioned balance. The first day we didn’t do nearly as much with balance as we did yesterday. I guess she switches it up a bit. First day we did work with rollers but yesterday we did all this balancing on one foot and then doing different poses while balancing. I was a mess falling all over the place, but I kept trying. I told her afterwards that I have lost 45 pounds recently so my body is not only bigger and having a hard time balancing but also adjusting to a big change. I said do just ignore me falling all over the place, I will get there. She chuckled and said I was doing fine. She reminded me that most of the other women in my class have been there for over a year. Some did yoga and law here before that and I was only on day two. Sometimes I get a little over zealous. I am just so incredibly proud of us for just doing these things anyways. The only way to get good at anything is to first get started. I have always been so embarrassed to not be good at something but this time I just don’t care. I am going to do it and I am going to get good, or at least skinny to the point that I look cute trying 😉
  5. I am wanting to order my vitamins and pro care health has one that is sadi specific with extra stuff in it. (I am pending Revision to SADI) I am just curious if anyone has tried this and wondering first if it goes down okay And also how are your labs going.
  6. Just an update. My team had me start with a high ADEK chewable and switch to capsules when I got to purées. I started with the Procare health all in one multi with 45mg iron that I took after a protein shake in the morning and switched to the SADI specific one once I was able to drink the shake a little faster (just to make sure that there was a whole shake in my tummy with that higher level of iron) so it didn’t come back up. That seems to have worked I get my labs near the end of month so we will see what they say.

Good for you, that LBT workout sounds like it’s would KICK MY BUM!! I’m quickly learning in the fitness world that is considered a good thing, lol. I have a flier for a group fitness class that I was warned as a beginner would kick my butt too but the instructor said I’m welcome to come and do what I can. I still have that darn blister so I’ve stuck to my walking and yoga for this week because I know that sneakers will just aggravate it. I love that your instructor was able to give you modifications. That’s awesome. i feel the same way with the yoga. I told my husband that right now I’m not very good at all but I can already tell that it is going to help me tremendously and I can’t wait until I am able to do a bit more of the poses and be a little less clumsy going from one to the next. We will get there. The important thing for now is that whether we are in step with the rest of them or how, we are moving our bodies. Just moving is good for weight loss and cardio. If I had to guess I would say that the period thing is related to your surgery. It makes a lot of changes and hormones are not left out but if it’s possible you’re pregnant, I would do a test just in case. The surgery and the weight loss do also cause you to be more likely to get pregnant. There are a handful of women on here who got pregnant pretty early out. Well, I really hope you do get to try your water aerobics class today, that sounds like alot of fun.

So I haven’t ever started a really good cleansing routine with my skin. I have some skin condition where I get dried skin on the sides of my nose if I don’t treat it and believe it or not the dermatologist told me to use head and shoulders shampoo on my face and it works just as good to prevent it as the really expensive cream does to heal it so I have been doing that for a lot of years. Well, I really liked the dermatologist, but his office staff messed up my appointments Once too many times and I scheduled with a different one this time and she said you have rosacea. You need to be using something mild or on your face and sold me this whole new skin kit that has like five steps. She actually froze something off my face that day as well, so I couldn’t start using it until this morning (it’s finally healed) after my yoga class I came home and washed my face with it and it actually feels nicer after just one use. My skin feels softer at least. Apparently, my skin really seriously needed the hydration.

    Psych evaluation?

Every dr is different. My doctor was more of a formality. He didn’t ask me anything about my eating or much about my mental health. I have Bipolar and I was cleared. He just wanted to know that I’m on meds and regularly seeing a psychiatrist. I told him I see both a psychiatrist and Psychologist. After that we moved on to talking about my home situation. What kind of Support I will have and what other responsibilities I may have that make it harder and stuff like that.

There absolutely is not anything easy about it. But the important thing is that we are on the journey and we are moving forward. Together, cheering this on, we can get this. Great job with the gym. You may want to touch base and see if your team wants you to increase carbs with added activity. Mine did.

Thanks. I think it may actually be more than 4500 a day. Isn’t one pound 3500 calories? I swear I read that somewhere. Not sure if it was accurate, though. But yea, it unrealistic to think when the scale goes up a couple of pounds it’s because we had one thing off plan. I think I just panicked a little because I know that I cannot maintain two or three hours or exercise a day forever so if I’m doing all of this and still not really losing then what happens if I slow down. I figured once I get to maintenance I would probably cut that slowly but probably down to half that. I mean physically I feel like I could do it forever but it’s a very big time commitment between that and the healthy meals taking more time too. Maybe I will get to where I can do like one hour of more intense exercise. And then my Yoga a couple times a week. I really like that. It is a pretty good workout for me still but I can tell it’s eventually going to be really relaxing and feel good. I think I may ask my hubby to hide the scale. Someone else on here said they did that and it seems like a pretty good idea.

Thank you. 😊 it’s so funny how we know all of those things but sometimes we just need to hear them from someone else.
  13. I totally got it when I got mine. I wore a size one and I think I was a small B cup. Like only at Victoria’s Secret otherwise I was an A. I think the surgeon is going to be a huge help in telling you what would look good on your body.

I bet it is just because they are too loose. I am about ready for the next size but I think they will still be a little too snug. You know how In the extended sizes they make you go a couple of inches before the next size which is so unfortunate. Once you get down to the “normal” sizes, there are more sizes in between so I’m sure I will find some to fit me better down the road. I actually am still within the return period for Amazon, maybe I will just send these two back and get the smaller size. If they are not comfortable anyways I may as well wear something I already have that isn’t perfect. At least that’s free. Or maybe I will be pleasantly surprised and they will just fit. If that doesn’t work, I will check out Nike. I just hate to spend a lot knowing that I’m still losing. Then again the ones that I got were not super cheap either, $30 bucks. I ordered some that were three in a pack for $30 and the material was just horrible so I went with the same brand as my bicycle shorts and I really like the material. I only have two pairs of the shorts so I have washed them every other day for over a month now and they still look brand new (navy and black not faded). Plus, they are really soft.

Good Mornong everyone. I know I have been the one to say trust the process and we are all different and all of that so far but today I need the reassurance. I have been exercising quite a bit. Walking at minimum two extra hours a day and also including yoga now and more movement in general throughout the day. The way I figure it, with the added exercise alone I should be losing like pound a week but last week I lost only 2 pounds and it’s been five days now and I haven’t lost anything so far this week. I have not had ONE thing that was not from the fresh sections of the supermarket other than the occasional brown rice and zero carb wrap. I am tracking every thing that goes into my mouth even my calcium chews which are four carbs and I log and my fiber powder too. I measure and weigh everything I onclide in my calorie count for the day. I am doing exactly what the nurse practitioner says I should be doing but I’m getting scared that if my weight loss has slowed to one and a half or 2 pounds a week already with this level of activity that I’m in trouble. I mean, physically I feel like I could keep this level of exercise up forever but timewise, I don’t know that I can work it in ever day forever. I figured I would get to maintenance and gradually cut it back to maybe yoga or aerobics or one hour of the walking but not necessarily two or three hours every day. I know that I’m at least losing and that’s better than any other diet. That’s what I would tell one of you, but it just feels like I shouldn’t be slowing down this much this soon. I’m wondering if I should maybe decrease my carbs I increase them when the nurse practitioner told me too based on my activity and I was losing more before I did that.

I bet you will be feeling more energy soon too. For the vitamins, I ordered the second one a little early and got on auto ship so I get the new one a while before I run out of the old one (enough time that I can call and see what’s going on if I don’t get them). That auto ship really worked out for me because I didn’t have to bother with it, it also saves a bit of money.

So glad you’re feeling more like yourself!! Oh how I miss my walking outside. I’ve got a huge blister so I can’t wear sneakers so I’ve been just trying to walk here and there inside with my slides on. I can’t wait for the cooler weather either. My husband says he may even join me when the weather breaks.

That’s a great idea to get your meals rated. If you make anything that looks too good you may end up with company for dinner. lol. Well for future reference. If you are like me, carbs crave carbs. So if you do indulge one day just know that you will crave more for a short while. Kinda like we are addicted and need to quit again. I am able to have good carbs like veggies, fruits, brown rice, etc. But processed carbs make me hooked again. I think the most important thing to remember is that we didn’t get to be overweight by eating seconds on broccoli or watermelon. It was the pasta and cake and the third helpings of them things. I’m sure if your team isn’t concerned then you are doing just fine.

Yea I have to use alarms for my vitamins too. I did have them set to this really loud obnoxious alarm till it scared too many people when I was out. I changed it to one that’s a little quieter. 😂

I went a step further in my preparedness. I have these little tiny containers that were 2 ounces from my purée phase and I put my calcium and my other vitamins for a whole day in one of them and just left it in the cooler. I always take my drinks with me because I like to save money so I’ll always have that and at least if I get stuck out for some reason, I’ll always have my vitamins with me.
  21. For one thing that may help you a little bit I have a proffee for breakfast (just protein shake with coffee over ice) I mix in my fiber powder and have my my multivitamin after I finish it so every morning I’m well hydrated. My tummy feels satisfied and I have my protein and vitamins off to a good start for the day. I didn’t eat actual food so I have no problem drinking afterwards. everyone’s stomach reacts a little differently and some can’t handle a lot of fluids, but mine can. Maybe something like that would help if you had that or soup maybe for lunch so you could drink more with it?? Just thinking out loud.

Yea. The mind is pretty powerful and it is possible to swap disordered eating patterns. Going from emotional overeating or binging to under-eating. Talking to someone about your fears and guilt is a great idea. But from a non professional two chicken wings is definitely not a lot and your food choices sound great to me. The one thing you have to realize is you’re not going to eat your 2 ounce or half a cup portions forever. eventually you will land somewhere close to a normal serving size. Everyone is a bit different, but you will get back to a new normal at some point it just looks like a lot of food after eating so little for a while. Will you get to follow up with anyone at 3 months? I actually asked to meet with my nurse practitioner more often than they require just because of my anxiety. I always have too many questions to email or call and ask, but they normally require it at three months because they do labs to check your vitamins. If so, you could ask them what to expect in terms of portion size. What you should be aiming for over the next how many of months until you see them again. Do you find that you do not crave your sweets as much after the surgery? Before I had my sleeve, I was actually a salty snacker, and after the sleeve I started craving sweets, which I think may partially have to do with why it wasn’t so successful for me. so far since my Sadie, I do not crave sweets, so I think it reverted back to where I am a salty snacker again. Well, I mean right now my snacks are not something that I actually feel like I need because I’m not hungry but something that’s necessary to reach my protein goal.

    Spring Rolls: Yum

We also call the rice paper ones Summer Rolls. It’s actually pretty confusing here when you say Spring Rolls because some people assume the ones that popped in your mind and others think of the rice paper ones. But to further confuse you, egg rolls and fried spring rolls are two differnt things here 🤣 I love them too, though. I just tried them for the first time post SADI with chicken, avocado and julienned veggies (I used cucumber, carrots, red pepper and red cabbage but you can just clean out your fridge). The recipe included a super simple peanut sauce that I love. It’s quite salty but I like salt anyways and you don’t use as much of the sauce that was. It calls for 2tbsp soy sauce and one tbsp peanut butter just mixed. I used fresh ground peanuts so it was better for me. My husband didn’t want to try them or I would make the sauce with reduced sodium soy sauce but easier for me because I like it the other way better. Anyways I get about three servings out of that sauce recipe because it is salty so it goes a long way. actually whipped it up to have on some leftover chicken breast last night because I didn’t feel like doing anything fancy. I also learned for anyone who hasn’t made them it’s best to prepare the bowl of fillings but only roll up what you plan to eat. They didn’t do well on the fridge. The next day they stuck to the bottom of the container and broke apart and the second day the wraps got hard and I had to remove them and eat just the filling.

    Yoga Supplies and Tips Please

Yea the ones I have now are made to come up high to begin with but I’m getting close to the next size so I have them pulled up even further (almost to my boobs, lol). It made sense that these rolled down but I was wondering if normal ones will do the same thing anyways just because of the belly thing when bending like that. There is another lady in the class that looks close to my size and I wish I could ask her what she wears but I don’t want to be offensive or embarrass her. I mean most of us on here have acknowledged that we are/were obese so we can talk about our bellies but not everyone is in the same boat. It will be weird for me to wear anything that sits at the waist though. Been a while since I have worn that cut. I guess if my belly shows it’s just women at least.

I don’t think The rice paper wrappers would be good in the air fryer. They make a differnt wrapper that can be baked or air fried that is typically deep fried but the rice paper one is intended to be served cold. I’ve never tried it but they are paper thin. I don’t think it would work.
