Have you tried the quest protein chips. They are really good. I don’t miss regular chips.assuming you have been cleared to eat chips.

What kind of vitamins should i buy
ShoppGirl replied to SH76's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Well you will want chewable for a while at least and calcium should be calcium citrate. I take the bariatric advantage of the multi vitamin and calcium chews. My nutritionist had samples of them. Mostly it’s a matter of tastes as long as they meet the surgeons requirements. I did get one flavor from them I didn’t like and they took it back and processed a refund no questions asked but I’m willing to bet if you called and asked they would send you samples. Their number is 800-898-6888. If you are going to see a nutritionist or have a bariatric coordinator wait to order until after you see them because they may have a discount code if they endorse the vitamins you choose. I didn’t wait and missed out on any discounts because it only applied the first time. -

If you find it as difficult as I did to find one local keep in mind that one good thing that came out of this pandemic is telehealth. You just have to find someone In the same state and you can do phone conferences with them. -
I agree. Just be patient. Stay away from the scale for a while if you can.

Congrats.

No matter if taken after meals, vitamins make me NAUSEATED!
ShoppGirl replied to SBFARRIS's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wonder if using the patches will cause less constipation from calcium and iron? That’s the issue I have. Have to take fiber everyday forever it seems and never had issues before all these vitamins. -
Not if you are sticking to plan. It’s impossible to gain on so few calories. Hang in there it will come off.

I found myself eating more than I should be after surgery as well and I have been working on finding a therapist that deals with eating disorders. After a lot of calling around I finally found one that is in my state so I can do telehealth I am just waiting for the appointment since she as scheduling pretty far out. Talk to a therapist sooner than later to get to the bottom of any food addictions you have so you don’t miss the opportunity to take advantage of this tool.

Drinking
ShoppGirl replied to traceyingraphics@gmail.com's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was instructed to not drink 30 minutes before or after. Idk why some doctors say different things. -
Not that you can’t talk about it here but there is a forum that is just for plastics where you may find more people who are at that stage.

Fears of Depression deteriorating post operation
ShoppGirl replied to Bariatric852's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If I were you I would call the dr and not wait till your next appointment if you are experiencing full blown depression. It’s possibly the fact that your body is only absorbing part of your medication and the solution could be as simple as increasing the dose or switching to a different medication. Why suffer needlessly. -
No more boobs
ShoppGirl replied to HealthyLifeStyle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have only lost 40 pounds and I already have boob issues. They are deflated but I tried a cup size smaller In the same bra and it creates muffin top because the cup is not wide enough. I have a bunch of space at the top of the bra that is empty. Hopefully as I lose more this will change or I am never going to find a bra that fits properly. -
Good Luck tomorrow 🍀

Losing too much weight prior to surgery?
ShoppGirl replied to lizonaplane's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I actually gained weight the closer I got to my surgery because I did the little food funerals that many of us do. Either way it gets harder and harder to lose weight the more we lose so hopefully you won’t lose quite as much the next couple of months but maybe relax your diet just a bit if you are losing it that fast. So sad we have to play these games with something so important as our health. I was close to the weight before the food funerals and asked this question too. For me they also said it went by the weight you are at your pre op appointment (before the liver shrink diet). -
Perhaps you can ask to do one last appointment to meet the new surgeon ahead of that day. I think we all are pretty nervous though by the time we start our preop diet new surgeon or not.

I am not a big cook so I did the cream of soups out of the can when I was allowed (mixed with skim milk to make it creamier) and surprisingly I was so glad to get more than broth that they weren’t too bad. I wouldn’t stock up too much if that’s why your asking now though, some people’s tastes change a bit (at least temporarily) and also our tummies are just picky for a while. What you like now you may not like, or be able to tolerate, right after surgery. I did consider asking about putting broccoli cheese soup (the one soup I can make outside of chicken noodle) in the blender but never did because it’s so high in calories I figured it defeated the purpose. There are a ton of foodies that can cook out there so you will get some better suggestions I’m sure.

Food Before and After Photos
ShoppGirl replied to GreenTealael's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
If you’re buying a whole pizza for just yourself and you end up wasting I found a tip that if you cut it in like quarters when you get it home from the store it’s partially thawed so it’s much easier to cut and then you can just cook a quarter or a half of the pizza or how much ever you need too. -

Any April 2021 surgeries?!

I have been taking fiber daily and that seems to help. Dr says that fine to take daily. -
How Much Weight Loss During Liquid Diet
ShoppGirl replied to PhenomenalWoman's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did what was called a liver shrink diet where I was allowed food. I did protein shake for breakfast and then mostly meat and non starchy veggies for 14 days then two days of liquids. I lost 14 pounds on that and I started with a lower BMI. -
Information for family/friends
ShoppGirl replied to KyKym's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The clinic you are planning to go through may also have support groups that you may be able to bring him along. That’s not really from a support perspective but it could still be pretty informative and he can ask questions.
