    Loose skin in 40’s

Yea I have heard that we really start to lose skin elasticity at 40. The nurse practitioner said to use cocoa butter before AND after surgery and that will helP some if you are concerned as well.
  2. This happened to me at three weeks. Lasted about ten days. I have heard others who said it lasted a little longer and some it lasted only a week. Fear not. I say over and over. It is impossible for a human being to live on the small amount of calories we are consuming and NOT lose weight. It will pick back up.

    Loose skin in 40’s

Yea since I am lower BMI, the NP said I will not likely have enough excess skin to qualify for insurance to pay. I did lose most of my weight six years ago and had absolutely no excess skin but I was in my 30’s and lost it slower so I am just nervous about it. Obviously I already had surgery do whatever happens, happens but I am a worry wart.

    Stomach bug after surgery

I can’t imagine it would be fun...at all...but some people are nauseous after surgery and vomit several times as well and they survive it. I imagaine Thats one of those things like appendicitis that would really stink during but you get through it and live to tell the story about it. Fingers crossed that doesn’t happen to anyone.

    Really struggling

I can’t relate with your experience exactly but I can relate with being hungry and not being able to eat enough to fulfill that. It was head hunger. I have learned to differentiate now at five weeks and one tip is to turn OFF regular tv with all the food commercials and Watch on Demand or netflix Hopefully that helps some. And remember it will get a little better each day and worth it in the long run.
  6. Interesting. I will have to try it as soon as I get cleared for regular diet. Hopefully at next appt which is Monday. Thanks.
  7. Do you mind sharing your brownie recipe?

    Any April 2021 surgeries?!

    Good luck!! 👍
  9. Yea I went through a week or two where I felt very low energy but I think that was typical for just about everyone. I would still give your psychiatrist the heads up that you may be needing adjustments especially if you have needed them for weight fluctuations In the past but like I said so far so good. Fingers crossed.
  10. I also have bipolar and I am 5 weeks out and feel the same/ similar to before surgery. I have lost 15 pounds since surgery but 29 total in 7 weeks (I have lower BMI so I am a slow loser). All I can say is so far so good. I am still waiting for the sudden increase in energy and mood to happen and that has not yet happened for me but I don’t feel any Deep depression or anything like that if that’s what you were concerned about. I know I was a bit worried about that.

    Any April 2021 surgeries?!

    Congrats 🎉
  16. I believe it was hiatal hernia that would explain the diet post op if people also see you eat.
  17. Day 20, sounds like the infamous three week stall I recently learned about but it happens to so many people here. I had it as well. It lets up. Just be patient. Congrats on the 20 pounds.

    Purée

I felt like I could eat more than they suggested until I got to soft foods (that’s when I first felt the restriction). It’s best to just stick to what your team recommends though as you are still healing and don’t want to push it.

    Clear Protein drinks

I actually preferred clear protein after my surgery cause the shakes taste too sweet. I can tolorate premier protein strawberry and cafe latte (has caffeine) but in the beginning I did a shake and clear protein drinks each day to get in my protein goal. I like the premier protein fruit punch but have to admit it’s the only one I’ve tried. The shakes and the clear protein count towards fluid and protein goals.

    New goal weight

Wow. Good to hear a story about someone surpassing their original goal. Congrats.
  21. It varies significantly what is required. I had one meeting with dietician and a psychiatrist and that was it.

    Menstruation after VSG

Idk. I even told him that I didn’t use it for BC (husbands had vasectomy) so technically I COULD go off it but would rather not and he said it wasn’t necessary.

    Menstruation after VSG

I did not have to stop taking my pill at all. I guess like Everything else it varies from one surgeon to the next.
  25. I am due for my second COVID vaccine tomorrow and have heard from a couple people that if not super hydrated it causes headaches and I’m a little concerned because it takes all my might to get in 64oz and I can’t get more than that. Anyone else have issues with not being hydrated enough post surgery and side effects?
