ShoppGirl replied to Rey Rodriguez's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine was sort of heavier too and I had breakthrough bleeding for a while. It normalized now I am almost 4 months out. -
Compression for belly
ShoppGirl replied to JessieShips83's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I woke up from surgery with a compression thing on and was told it was just for my comfort and to keep it on as long as I wanted to. I would wait to hear from someone else who had one with staples though cause I did not. Also, I took it off the next day as soon as I got home cause it didn’t seem to help. I didn’t notice a difference with it on or off (for what that’s worth). -
Not too sure about those others but I like these. They are “snack” size which is perfect for me right now and only 35 calories.

July 2021 Surgery People!
ShoppGirl replied to Sammys_VSG_Evolution's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was really afraid of that too. I think after yo yo dieting our whole lives it hard not to be but this is a good tool and if you use it properly it works. You just have to trust the process. -
Keep trying tiny sipps, different drinks, different temperatures (even hot chocolate if you can have that right away (I forget)) but if you really don’t get any down contact your team. I was able to sip some but not enough and I noticed urine was dark ans they made an appointment for me to go back to hospital as an out patient to get fluids.

Any April 2021 surgeries?!
ShoppGirl replied to KidaandRoux's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I take the bariatric advantage chewable and they are pretty good. They have samples. I got mine from my nutritionist but if you’s did not have them I imagine the company would send you some?? I take their chewable multi and calcium citrate chews. -

Pre-op diet weight loss
ShoppGirl replied to Anj0399's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I lost 14.6 pounds on the 16 day preop diet. The majority of it was in the first week. It’s a good thing. The dr said I did really good on the liver shrink diet and I had little pain afterwards. I like to think it’s cause he had more room to move things around in there so I didn’t get as bruised as some do from having to retract things out of the way (or just coincidence but it wasn’t easy so I like to think it mattered somehow 😉). I say Just stick to your plan. It sounds like you are doing great. -
I almost gave in to the arches….
ShoppGirl replied to ShoppGirl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thank you all for your responses and suggestions of how to deal with this situation. It means more than you know to just hear that I am not alone. I don’t know how I would do all this without such a great group of people that truly understand and don’t judge. 🙏🏼 -
I just went out to get my hair cut and my nails done and was feeling all good and on my way home. The angel and the devil were on my shoulders and the devil had me convinced that I could eat just a few French fries and it wouldn’t be too bad cause the portion would be small. Well thankfully they were busy because before I could get up to order the angel voice kicked in and reminded me that it was this way of thinking that sabotaged every diet I have been on up till now and I pulled through without ordering. I am curious though. Am I the only one that’s come this close? Is this an ongoing battle for others that are still In weight loss phase? What about those in maintenance. Part of me is just sharing to help keep myself accountable but part of me wonders if others have almost given in as well.

I almost gave in to the arches….
ShoppGirl replied to ShoppGirl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am guilty of some of these habits (pre surgery). I have an appointment scheduled with a disordered eating therapist next month and I hope I can get as much out of it as you seem to have through all your work. I dream of someday having a healthy relationship with food. I really wish the therapist I had seen would have identified these behaviors and had me do this work BEFORE my surgery but I guess it’s better late than never. -

I used this in the beginning to help keep myself on track (assuming you are able to take tiny sips). Opard 32oz Motivational Water Bottle with Time Marker to Drink, Reusable Plastic Bottle with BPA Free Tritan for Gym and Sports https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08BFFHRPM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_2TYE2VAH28E8M8B09Z9P?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

Creative problem solving
ShoppGirl replied to hauntedhideaway's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My 12 year old niece and I used to go to the nail salon together every two weeks pre covid. In between we text each other cool nail designs that people posted online or find cool decals and stuff for the holidays. Would someone take her to get her nails done once in a while if you gave her the money? Not sure if you are into this or if it would be affordable to do all the time. The salon I go to does her nails and toes for ten bucks because I’m there every two weeks anyways and her tiny nails don’t require much work. I just tip extra when they do any difficult nail art. -
I have really enjoyed the bariatric advantage chews as well. The fruit flavors remind me of starbursts.

Congrats to all the August surgery dates. -
I had a hard time with shakes In the beginning because of the sweetness too. I found the clear protein drinks to be easier to get down.

March surgeries

I had mind 3/9 and I have lost only 43 pounds. Some of us are just slower losers I think. Your non scale victories are great though!! -
Metformin - Loss of appetite pre-surgery
ShoppGirl replied to lizonaplane's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Dr Weiner mentioned metformin for weight loss in his videos and I did a bit of research and it has been used to offset a lot of psychiatric medications with side effects of weight gain. Never tried it but another thing he said about weight loss medications is you have to stay on them long term or you may gain the weight back. This shouldn’t be an issue for you though since you will be having surgery I assume. -
The premade ones do contain caffeine, but not the unmixed powder.
