Food Before and After Photos

Yea, It tasted really good. It did call for almond milk and the crust didn’t call for butter, but it was still 438 calories a serving which was 1/10th of the pie. I cut it into 12 so that helped cut them a bit. I think if I ever made another quiche I would leave out the bacon though and try your crust. I honestly think it would have been better with just veggies and of course lower calories. But yes, very good. Especially after craving it so much that I made a special trip to the store for ingredients because yours looked so yummy. Lol. -
Weight loss somewhat easier once I made the decision

I though at first that this was just coincidence for you but just remembered that my walking that I do almost everyday I did for a couple months before surgery and I did so well at it during those couple months. Never did less than 30 minutes and often did more. I think it’s like a spurt of energy and hopefulness we get when we know surgery is coming. -
Trying to figure out pre-op diet
ShoppGirl replied to hauntedhideaway's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Did anyone tell you not to stick up on too much for after surgery. Some of our tastes change and a common thing for protein shakes is to taste too sweet. -
Yea I thought that chart seemed about right for what I’ve lost. It’s probably past due for that doctor to part ways after the way he treated you. Maybe he is just burnt out or something?? Who knows.

Does anyone else LOVE chick fila southwest salad?? I mostly eat the toppings now and toss the lettuce to focus on protein but I eat eat a bit of the lettuce. At five months out one salad lasts a couple days for lunch and dinner.

Thought of you this morning because my weight went up one pound and I realized what I do to calm my fears when this happens. I have a log of my weight In the notepad on my phone. I log it daily and at the end of the month I delete it all except for the 18th which was my first entry at pre op appt. I look back at that and see the overall trend downwards and I feel better. Perhaps you could do something like that.

Adding protein drinks
ShoppGirl replied to badgirl814's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Amazon has variety packs of the premier protein drinks.it doesn’t include the caffe latte though. -
I was upset for you so I told the nurse practitioner at my clinic about your surgeon, lol. She just said that doesn’t make sense but I thought it was funny that I thought of it during my appt.

I’ve never taken a chair with me but have broken a lawn chair or two in my day. The ma and pa auto place near me has these lawn chairs that have to be like 50 years old and the girl chuckled when I paused and said don’t worry they won’t break. I swear the entire time I was Sitting like a statue. -
What is your biggest obstacle

Maybe invest in netflix for a few months. No commercials. -
Husband refuses to drop me off or pick me up from the hospital. Now what?

I suggest you talk the decision of whether to get a divorce over with a therapist. First because you can’t really judge an entire relationship by just one action without a whole lot of background. Second, If he is really abusive and manipulative they can tell you what to expect when you mention it and help you prepare (get your ducks in a row so he can’t sabotage you somehow). Maybe Just tell him it’s related to an eating disorder if you need an excuse or just ask him to go to another marriage counselor with you and when he says no, tell him you are gonna go anyways. -
What is a “skimmed” cucumber? Remove the seeds? If so have you ever tried seedless. I like them because they seem to last longer in the fridge. Still not long enough for just me to finish after WLS because they are bigger but still longer than regular cucumbers.

I would ask when the nurses call to go over your surgery because they may not let you leave unless they are releasing you into the care of someone. You don’t want to get stuck there for another night or however long if you can avoid it. -

Okay so I never cook and I thought this was going to be hard but it wasn’t bad. The filling went higher than the crust so you can’t see it in the picture but I wanted to post anyways since I finally have something to contribute. Not as good as ms sss’s but not bad for my first ever quiche I though. -

So that looked so delicious but I am in weight loss now so I searched the web for a healthier version. I found one that used almond flour went and got all the ingredients and started making it only to find it has more calories than your does (it listed it the whole time I just didn’t scroll down that far). I think it’s cause it bad Turkey bacon in it and quite a bit. Anyways I tasted a bit of the crust and it was delicious. I just hope it comes out okay because while I’ve never made quiche before i don’t think the egg mixture is supposed to be above the rim of the crust. I’m am really not a big cook. Hopefully it’s still edible cause after seeing yours I want it so bad. -

You could also ask your clinic if they have support groups and if so go to one of those and ask if anyone can help you?? -

I just thought of it but maybe you could post something at your clinic asking for a real life surgery buddy. That way you can get help from someone post surgery that understands this whole process and maybe make a friend in the process. -

I am not experiencing this but wanted to say I’m sorry you are struggling and glad to hear that you are getting treatment. May I ask, are you post weight loss surgery? Was this a new development after the surgery?? If not, do you feel like they just missed it during the psych evaluation or did you hide it well. I am post surgery and suffer from emotional eating and they missed it on the psyc evaluation so I am currently seeing a specialist (racing the clock getting help before my tool stops working). i just wonder how often these things are missed during the screening? It doesn’t seem to be at all standardized because the first place I called said that I needed to be there an hour early to take written tests and I found another that could get me in sooner and I didn’t do any written tests. Maybe the tests would have caught it? Anyways, i hope you find someone who is in your same situation and wish you the best of luck in your treatment.

I would venture to say that very few people will find that they are losing too much and have to make a real effort to stop. The averge WLS patient doesnt even necessarily make it below the “overweight” category on the BMI scale. Average weight loss is 60-70% of your excess body weight. You get this by subtracting the weight you should be from the weight you currently are and take 70 percent of that. That’s about how much you should lose. Now just subtract that number from what you weigh now and you will see if you lose the average amount what you should weigh. Having said that, several people on this site will tell you that they lost more or less than “average” (because it’s just a statistic) but I doubt there will be many that say they lost much more unintentionally.

I woke up from surgery with some pain meds in me and after I told them I was on very little pain they switched me to Tylenol at the hospital. They sent me home with something mild which I never took. I can’t imagine the need for a pain pump unless you have a complication or something. I mean. I do know someone else who had fhe surgery who had a lot of pain and had to ask for stronger pain meds and by all means if you need them take them, but I can’t imagine that oral pain meds wouldn’t be enough.

what vitamins brands do you recommend?
ShoppGirl replied to cheryl o's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I think if it were me I would ask them again specifically about calcium. Assuming What stloser said above is correct about calcium taking a long time to register as low you may not want to wait till your labs show a deficiency. -
