  1. I haven’t had this issue but when I was first on soft foods post VSG I was told to cook chicken in the instapot to make it super moist and it worked for me. It’s so tender you can shred it with two forks. Also, someone on here said chicken thigh is easier tolorated by some post WLS because there is more fat so it’s more tender. Hope this helps.
  2. Amazing progress. Live it up!!
  3. I thought I was feeling real hunger post surgery too but it turned out to be head hunger. I realized it because when I was distracted I could go Hours and actually forget to eat. I realized that I have a tendency to eat when I am board. I have a telehealth appointment with a therapist who specializes in disordered eating scheduled for next month to get to the bottom of this behavior so I don’t blow this opportunity. Most people do not have real hunger because the hunger hormones are in our stomach and they cut out such a large portion of it. When you are totally consumed by another task do you forget to eat?

    Benefiber for fullness?

I didn’t realize that fiber helps keep you full. I mix it in my crystal light three times a day though to keep me regular but that is a pleasant side effect.
  5. For what it’s worth, my doctor said he could tell that I did really well on the pre op diet (guess my liver was really small) and I didn’t have any pain post op. I like to think it was cause the liver was shrunk down and out of the way he had a lot more room to move around in there and I didn’t get bruised inside from them trying to retract things to make room?? Perhaps if you think of it that way it will help you stick to it.

    Any March Surgeries?

Well it sounds like you are off to a great start. Keep it up 👍

    Menstruation after VSG

    Lol
  8. Ooh no. I’m so sorry. Hopefully it’s just temporary. The more I think about it, it really could be just temporary (the wraps and bread at least) because bread was one thing that was listed is often not tolerated well for several months (rice was on the list as well). I forgot because I tried them and did fine but many people do not. I think my book said two-four months out it may cause issues. Toasted bread and crackers will be tolerated easier than untoasted bread and rice. It’s because they are gummy like paste even after they are chewed. So I would wait a couple weeks and try crackers or toast again before any of the other stuff.
  9. I don’t have any issues with carbs. I am 12 weeks out and have even tolerated pizza without issue. I sorta wish I had your problem though. I am not a sweet person. Carbs are my kryptonite.

    Any March Surgeries?

Good for you. That’s awesome!!! I think I am in the middle of a stall. At least I hope it is just a stall and not a sign that I need to cut calories again. I have only lost 25 since surgery, 40 total since pre-op but I was a lower BMI to begin. I think I need to add more exercise. I was just doing brisk walking each day but I think I need to do more. I feel like I am a slow loser even for lower BMI but I don’t really know for sure. I may call the dr Monday and ask what’s typical for someone like me.

    Thank you for that.

    Any March Surgeries?

How much is everyone eating? I find that I am able to eat more at this stage (match 9 surgery) than the 4-5 oz that the nutritionist said I should be able to. I need to make the transition to three meals a day and no snacks since I am eating more now and I’m not sure why but mentally that’s hard. I try skipping snack time and I feel hungry. I know it’s head hunger but it feels so real. Anyone have any suggestions for this.

    July 2021 Surgery People!

Not sure if you have a membership but SAMs club sometimes has really good sales on shakes (in guessing Costco would be same). I don’t suggest stocking up too much for post surgery though because many of our tastes change a bit especially for sweet stuff.

    Surgery date

    Congratulations 🍾
  15. I didn’t have a leak test. Just in case you don’t have one you are not the only one.

What's your best post op advice?

Trust the process. It’s so easy for those of us who have done the yo yo diets to worry that this won’t work for us but if we follow the plan it will. And you will lose weight at your own pace. Try not to compare your weight loss (or recovery for that matter) to others as it is very individualized. You got this!!
  17. I am 12 weeks out from surgery day. My BMI was 35 before pre-op diet and 33 on surgery day. I lost 14 pounds on pre-op diet and have lost 25 more since surgery. My current BMI is 29. I believe I am still a slow loser even for the lower BMI group because I did not have any issues getting in or tolerating foods or anything from the beginning. I have heard veterans who were slow losers as well say that they continued to lose weight for almost two years so it has to all come off eventually.

    This group is really great

I agree. I have found that I check this po for notifications before I check my text messages sometimes. Sorry friends and family. Lol

    Portion Control Containers

You can always use colored sharpies to mark the actual fill line for each item that corresponds to your plan since your plan allowances are LESS than the container size.
  20. So I am almost 12 weeks post op and have lost 40 pounds so far. I have been waking up with a slightly stiff back the past few days and I’m wondering if the memory foam mattress that has a larger body impression is causing my back problems?? Has anyone else had similar issues??

    New Mattress

Thank you everyone for your suggestions. I already have adjustable bases and thought memory foam was my only option to put on top. I will look into the other mattresses mentioned though because my husband agreed it’s time to invest in good mattresses.

    No pre-op diet?

Count your blessings. The preop diet was not fun. Although I get your concern but I have heard of others who didn’t have one either. It just boils down to surgeons preference.

    My goal outfit is/was . . .

I am so mad that I donated what I would have loved to be my goal outfit not too long ago (but before i decided on WLS). It was the pants that I wore the night I met my husband and i was tiny then since I was tiny my whole life till about 25 when bipolar symptoms started and medication along with depression made me gain a ton of weight. I remember the brand and they were plaid so I even tried searching used clothes on eBay to find them but had no luck. I did save some other outfits that I wore around that same time but I thought it would've been cool to be able to fit back into that outfit and ask him if I’ve still got it. Lol
  24. I have done the same and it is not fun and it makes it difficult to trust this process. For me at least. Fingers crossed several years from now we will be here giving advice and telling everyone how well the process worked for us.
  25. Someone mentioned the videos by Dr. Wiener about set point and I think that this concept of WLS lowering our set point is the only thing that makes it seem possible that this isn’t going to result the same way as every other diet we have been on. I admit, I question it too whether I am going to just gain it all back but I guess we have to trust the process.
