OMG a tap block. that must be what I got. I never had children so I had no idea what epidural was like to compare it to that. I remember trying to lift my body up using my abdomen and I couldn’t move in recovery. It was the weirdest feeling. I asked the nurse how much longer I would feel like that. And I had a tiny dot amongst my scars afterwards. Sorta odd that they don’t warn you that you will be half paralyzed post surgery. I guess most women would just know what was going on after childbirth but a heads up couldn’t hurt. It does work though. I continue to say I felt like I did 1000 crunches, but very little pain. For fear of addiction (it runs in my family) and since I didn’t need them, I asked to go off of the pain meds and switch to Tylenol (the next day i went home and didn’t take anything). All this time I thought I had nothing for pain but I had a nerve block. This makes so much more sense cause usually I am not the greatest with pain.

I used to literally drink nothing but Coke Zero. I Drank about a 12 pack a day. I am six months out drinking crystal light and the only time I have missed my soda is when I tried to drink ruM and crystal light and it was terrible but I just decided I don’t really need to be drinking my calories anyways. But somehow I honestly don’t miss soda so hopefully you won’t either.

Tighten in chest and fulness in throat was sleeve on 9/7
ShoppGirl replied to Turner01's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree. Call doctor. But also know that you don’t HAVE to move onto purées. It’s a maximum not a minimum. -
I recently vomited up my vitamin for the first time in my life. Have been taking chewable bariatric vitamins for six months, but these particular ones that are capsules for about a month already (with no issues). It was definitely the vitamin though. It was the same yellow color and gave me a taste aversion for the vitamin. Anyways, I always drink a shake in the morning too and I now have been waiting till after I got the whole thing down and it seems to coat the stomach enough that it hasn’t happened again.

Surgery Tomm - Gastric Sleeve
ShoppGirl replied to Undeniably_Cute's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am 42 had a 35 BMI and I am six months out from sleeve. I have lost 55 pounds. Made my first goal recently and 20 pounds from my actual goal. Absolutely best decision ever. -
I am feeling great. I was a lower BMI to start and i am a bit of a slow loser but I’ve lost 55 pounds and hit my first goal. Only 20 more pounds and I will be at my actual goal. That’s awesome they go through the mouth. My scars are pretty small (all smaller than an inch) but still no scars is better of course. And no incisions seems like less risk.

Well anyone can see this post and will see it’s about sasi so technically they can chime in but if you want to start a new one you just select “start new topic.”

I had the sleeve six months ago. I was in hospital overnight but probably didn’t need to be. I was one of the lucky ones that didn’t have a lot of post op pain. I think my doctor doesn’t use the air they pump in your belly cause I had absolutely no gas pain.
-
Not sure if you noticed the original post was from 2017. Not sure if the OP is still around. If you don’t get a reply you may have better luck creating a new post about the Sasi (which I’ve never heard of till now). Good luck.

sabotaging visitor
ShoppGirl replied to SoulGardener's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Look at the title for your post. You said it yourself. One, he is a visitor, not someone in your care (he is your ex-not your responsibility) or someone you have taken in long term. Two he is sabotaging you. That’s not what someone does who is appreciative of you for giving him a place to live. It tells me he has a backup plan anyways. Provably one of where there are more rules that he will actually feel the need to follow. -
Surgery tomorrow and panicking!

Im afraid i picked the wrong doctor
ShoppGirl replied to alandk's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It’s best for you to have a doctor you can trust. Is there a NP at his office? Sometimes they can be saying the same exact exact thing but they are just better with reassuring people (surgeons are great at what they do but tend to not be the best with people). I say don’t do anything sooner than the surgeon says but if you need to go a little slower for peace of mind that can’t hurt anything. Like others have said. Just because he says you CAN swim doesn’t mean that you HAVE to. -
My first goal was 180. The last weight I remember when I was social and comfortable enough with my appearance that I went out and did things like bowling league. I just reached 180.7 today!!

Good luck tomorrow 🍀

Are you 100% certain you are using your correct height. We shrink as we age and I was shorter than I thought and my dr’s apparently haven’t measured me in a while either because I was shorter than their records. Turned out I had a 35 BMI almost exactly.

No weight loss pre-op
ShoppGirl replied to EsojLabina's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I experienced weight gain pre op and it was because I was mourning the future loss of food. I ate things I shouldn’t because I was worried I would never be able to have them again. I did manage to lose the extra weight really quick on the pre op diet but I probably could have lost more had I not had all the food funerals. One thing that may be helpful in avoiding that is that if there is a food you have an intolerance for post op most likely you will also develop a taste aversion for it so it’s not like you will be craving it and never be able to eat it again. I didn't realize that so I wanted to eat everything I loved one last time before surgery and I packed on the pounds. -
Are you on any new medications or vitamins. I experienced this at 40 and it turned out it was medication causing it. Bamboo sheets and comforters helped a bit though.
-
I had protein only for my meals and vegetables for my snacks early on to get In some fiber (I still had to supplement though). That seemed to work though so I knew I would meet my protein goals.
-
I assume you are in recovery if not in your room by now. Hopefully all is well.
