ShoppGirl replied to Angelina1210's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was told if it was not an issue presurgery i would be fine. 8 months out and so far so good. -
Premier protein clear fruit juice wasn’t bad. Immediately Post surgery everything else was too sweet to me. That was my lifeline.

March surgeries
ShoppGirl replied to Hopefulin2021's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello Bill. I am March 9 surgery. I am still 14 pounds from goal (11 from normal BMI). To slow down the loss I have heard others suggest adding in healthy fats like nuts/nut butters, avacado, and healthy oils. -
Favorite Grocery Products

My husband found this at Walmart. I have seen the frozen riced cauliflower but this is not frozen. It’s like the microwave rice and jt just takes one minute. It was bland but good after I added spices. -

My husband found this at Walmart so I had to try it for lunch with my leftover kabobs from last night. Wasn’t bad at all. I know a lot of you like to make things from scratch but just a heads up for busy days. -

Pants Size and Other Bariatric Sites

If you ever really look at a size chart they make more sizes for smaller people. There are more inches in waist and hip size between the larger sizes than the smaller ones. -
How much did weight loss slow down for you?
ShoppGirl replied to lindseylovesdogs's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would call and ask your surgeon if you need to be concerned. -
I wasn’t at that stage on thanksgiving but I can suggest you try one new thing at a time so if it doesn’t agree you will know what it was that didn’t. Some others have mentioned the pumpkin pie filling.

HELP! Fort Worth, Texas area
ShoppGirl replied to lourdesco's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I do not know one in your area but some doctors do perform the surgery on people with lower BMI in certain instances. I would just get out the directory and call around telling them you will be self pay. And if you have no luck try to solicit the help of your primary or gynocologist to advocate for you or your doctor for your thyroid maybe. -
I did the same thing but honestly it was a waste. Had I not done that I’d be at goal already. Many of us do have at least a last supper though. Lol. Just know that for most of us we can eat all the same foods post sleeve. Just in moderation and much smaller portions. So you will be not having certain foods during weight loss but once you get to maintenance you will be able have them again. Honestly I do not have any food that I was told not to have. Just to make healthy choices.

Benadryl not working after sleeve?

I second the Ambien warning. I took that stuff and went to the store (drove myself) having no recollection of it. Scary stuff. -
Newby full of anxiety and questions
ShoppGirl replied to Jerald180's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
The rule of thumb around here is its best to follow YOUR plan and listen to YOUR team. Best thing I did is to read the paperwork start to Finish Writing down questions as I went but then going back And taking it step by step reading just a little ahead as I progressed. It can be a bit overwhelming to try to learn it all 100% ahead of time. Perhaps this will work for you too. -
Am I really going to live on 1000 calories?
ShoppGirl replied to doobie31's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
For me the pre op diet was the hardest part because post surgery I have zero hunger aside from head hunger. At 8 months out I eat more than 1000 calories most days. I have more like 1200. I am losing still, slowly, but I am 11 pounds from a normal BMI now. Some people at this stage have a calorie goal and some have as few as 6-800 calories I have seen on here but for me this works and my team is happy with my progress. Your team should give you a goal that is realistic and will work for you. -
Yay, that’s awesome 😀

What was your protein/day goal after surgery?
ShoppGirl replied to Pete-TheTimeIsNow's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Once you start eating some actual food it will be easier. Are you allowed soup now and pudding. Those two things are good to sneak in some unflavored protein powder to decrease the need for shakes. -

Good for you. Keep it up. -
You should be able to find the protein water in stores. Also, The unflavored protein powder such as genepro mixes in pudding and soups and stuff depending on what you are allowed to have

Wow. That’s a lot of surgery in a short time. I’m sure your hormones are all over the place. And an anniversary of a loss doesn’t help at all. Good for you for reaching out. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.
