Don’t wait for your appointment. Call their office today. If they don’t respond and the pain is terribly bad go to the ER. -
Severe back, stomach and coccyx pain 13 weeks post op
ShoppGirl replied to Aymen's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Have you contacted your team. I don’t think new pain that is so severe you can’t stand up at 13 weeks out is very common. They should have someone after hours to advise you. -
Have you talked to your surgeon and told them you are having such a hard time? I didn’t have any issues so I can’t be sure but it seems like some people on here have bad similar issues that resolved eventually. If I were you I would reach out to your team and hopefully some others with similar experience will reply and offer helpful tips. If you don’t like the shakes because they are too sweet try premiere protein caffe latte. It was the only one I could stand early on because the rest tasted too sweet to me. Just know that it does contain caffeine.

I didn’t have that issue but I wonder if there is another anti nausea Med. I know in the hospital I had a patch that goes behind the ear for nausea and that worked for me. I would call the dr. No need to suffer if there is a medication you can get.

I feel like I have no familial support for my surgery.
ShoppGirl replied to itami o's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
So glad to hear that you have the support of your siblings. To be honest, one person in your corner can be all you really need. Good luck on your upcoming surgery and keep us posted on your journey. -
Congratulations on the weight loss and the 18 years. A lot to celebrate.

Feeling guilty eating not as healthy as i could
ShoppGirl replied to Annalaura88's topic in Food and Nutrition
In the beginning when I was eating so little but needed fiber (because I was constipated) I would eat veggies as my snack. I focused on protein at meals and had the veggies as a snack. The NP thought that was a great idea. Perhaps it will work for you. You still get your veggies and your protein but no worries over eating too much at one time. -
February 2022 Surgery Buddies

Congratulations to all the February surgery dates. 🎉 -
Is it because they are too sweet? Because I had that issue and I had to do the clear protein drinks until I found the cafe latte by premier protein. It has caffeine In it though just fyi.

I feel like I have no familial support for my surgery.
ShoppGirl replied to itami o's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I hate to say it but if that is where they stand right now you may not be able to get them on board within a week. I am not sure whether I would even continue to try if I were you. I know that their concern is coming from a genuine place but their expression is not rational or productive. And it’s not okay! My mom has pulled similar stuff with me and it has taken years in therapy to be able to set boundaries with her. Assuming you are an adult you need to be able to make your own decisions free from guilt and manipulation but a change like that will not happen overnight. This surgery is a big decision and it’s one that you should make for you. You don’t need their approval. If you need support, you have found a great source of it right here. -
No Restriction - VSG to RNY
ShoppGirl replied to 2badogs's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Many people say they don’t feel restriction until AFTER soft foods. Some of us though (assuming I am not the only one) are able to eat more at any given stage since the beginning of the process. According to the NP nothing is wrong and I didn’t do anything wrong my pouch is just a little bigger. I just had to measure my food and stop either when I felt satisfied or when the food was gone (I did not wait until I felt full). This had worked out fine for me. It took some getting used to, stopping before I felt full but after waiting a few minutes I realized I was satisfied anyways. Most likely you just haven’t felt your restriction because of cut nerves or because the food is not solid BUT if you are like me you will be fine too. I am almost 9 months out and I am about ten pounds from goal. Now I see you are bypass. I guess the same advice to measure and stop when you are done applies though. -
Can’t really help with the bathroom issues but I set alarms on my phone to remind me to drink. Not everytime cause that would be distracting but like every hour and at that point I would assess whether I had been drinking as I should in that hour (if not then hold the water bottle or do whatever you gotta to catch up). Also, if you do get dehydrated again you should be able to call your doctor and have them arrange for you to get fluids as an out patient (you don’t have to go to the ER).

Congratulations on your surgery date!! There is also a thread called “January surgery buddies” where you will find several people with January dates.

What do non-cooks eat in the 4th month?
ShoppGirl replied to Amy Braun's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I have never been but was looking at Aldi’s website and they also have cauliflower pizza. -
Wow, that means you are only getting 25% of the water you used to. It must be about convenience and you are only still drinking at the same times you used to but consuming much less at those times. This may sound obvious but you have to drink more often. Find new times that you drink such as while in the car or on the phone or while walking through the neighborhood. Even at night if you get up to pee. Try to start new habits to increase the number of times a day you are drinking.

There is not a way to shrink your stomach. Although I doubt you really stretched it. It sounds like your not necessarily eating too much food at one sitting but rather eating the wrong foods and perhaps even eating too many times a day?? If that’s the case you just have to go back to your weight loss plan and eat on plan foods. IF your stomach is “stretched” that doesn’t mean all hope is lost. It can be done without the restriction. I have been able to physically eat more than I am supposed to at every phase of this process for some reason so I just have to measure my food and eat what I’m supposed to and that seems to be working. Yes, I do tend to want to continue to eat until I feel that full feeling but I know I really shouldn’t so I stop and in a few minutes I do tend to feel satisfied (I think that part is a mind thing).
-
I have tried them and they go down fine but I try to stay away from them just because I know myself with carbs. I can’t eat just once. After I have them I crave them for days.
-
I don’t think if you really stretched it that there is a way to shrink it but you CAN still go back to eating smaller portions and eat until you are satisfied instead of full. I don’t know if this is quite as easy as having restriction kick in but it is doable. For whatever reason I have always been able to eat more than I should at each stage so I just measure out what I am supposed to eat and make myself stop there. Trust me, not feeling full I want to eat more but I don’t. And after I wait a few minutes I usually realize that it was enough and I am no longer hungry. Try measuring again and at least stop eating and give you body a few minutes to feel full. Hopefully this will help.

Liquid protein supplement
ShoppGirl replied to Jessica1024's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was able to get in my protein between the shakes and the clear protein drinks. I did try the unflavored powder but I could taste it and didn’t like it. -
It has to be a stall. Y just stick to your plan and you will start losing soon.

If you are self pay I have heard of people with BMI as low as 30 having the surgery. If you are looking for insurance to pay it will probably be bmi of 35 WITH a comorbidity or BMI of 40 without. Don’t be so sure you don’t have a comorbidity though. Many overweight people have sleep apnea. Many teams will send you for a sleep study right off the bat.

I don’t take Paxil but I do take a mood stabilizer and an antidepressant so I asked about meds and i was told that with sleeve typically it is only the extended release medications that cause issues. Of course there is always the outliers so you should stay in close touch with your doctor if you don’t feel the same but typically dosage will stay the same. After they lose weight, some people are able to reduce their dosages of antidepressants.

Chocolate cravings!!!
ShoppGirl replied to PCOS_Mama94's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Quest makes candy bites that are chocolate and the caramel one is quite tasty. They are 80 calories if I remember correctly and they at least have some protein in them. Perhaps that will fill you up a bit and you will want just one. I found them at target but but not my target. They have them on Amazon if you can’t find them near you. -
You look young so you have that going for you but how long You have been overweight and genetics also play A role as well as how much weight you intend to lose. I am in my early 40’s and I have lost 66 pounds and so far I do not see any loose skin however I am still 6 pounds from the top of the normal range for my BMI. I have a feeling if I decided to adjust my goal And I did get much smaller I may have some. But I agree with others that You can’t prevent it if it’s going to happen and the only way to get rid of it is surgery. The good news is that if you have a lot, and can prove it is causing you issues you may be able to get insurance to pay to have it removed. There are plastic surgery forums where you Can ask about how that works. I was warned that I did not have enough weight to lose to have enough skin to qualify for insurance to pay before my surgery. I sorta guessed from that statement that the more you have to lose the better your chances are of insurance paying for plastics. Which makes sense I guess a bigger loss equals more excess skin.
