Want to be a part of this site

People tend to respond only if they think they have something helpful to contribute. It’s definitely not a clique or I wouldn’t like it here either. The more you post the more you will see replies to your posts.

Now thinking if canceling surgery 🥺

My BMI was 35 and the dr said he thought sleeve was sufficient but he said he would do bypass if I wanted it.
  5. During COVID I was trying and actually losing weight by dieting and exercising on a treadmill at home. Until my knees started to hurt pretty bad after just a short ways on the treadmill. I was a BMI of around 33 then and the weight was already taking a toll on my knees. Well then I took some time off the treadmill as the dr suggested and started to gain it back (the little I had lost). I just realized then that the problem was only going to snowball with every pound I gained.

Now thinking if canceling surgery 🥺

I was feeling a bit dehydrated and my urine was dark so I called my team and they arranged for me to get fluids. I called right away and they got me In asap so it never got bad, thankfully.

    Almost time

Congratulations on your surgery date. You’ve got this.
  8. Yea I tried a couple times to slow eating pre surgery with no luck so I just waited till post surgery and literally had to use a clock. I did this during the purée and soft food phases but by the regular food phase I realized I wasn’t really eating slow and nothing happened. Granted I alway measure out my portions and never eat too close to feeling full so maybe that’s why?? Not sure but you will be more able to do it immediately post op when your body is healing and you know you can possibly hurt yourself if you don’t. And your body will tell you if you have to continue eating slow. I should say adain that the purpose of eating slow is to give you body a chance to catch up and tell you your full so that you don’t overeat so measuring food and eating less than your pouch is very important if you don’t eat much slower.

    1 yr out food

My favorite smoothie is banana and nut butter but it’s too many calories to fit in my weight loss phase. That’s healthy calories if you use nut butter with no sugar or salt added.

Congratulations on your surgery date and keep posting here for all kinds of support.
  11. If you can have salads there are tons of options. I have been trying salads at the various restaurants and tasting their recxomended dressings with them and some are surprisingly good. I of course get chicken on my salads but you could do them without. A couple favorites are Chick-fil-A’s market salad and Wendy’s apple pecan salad. They both have fruit and sweet vinigarette dressings. Two things that I never even tried pre surgery but actually enjoy now. I am a year out and I mostly just eat the toppings off the salad but I have a little of The lettuce mixed in. Usually I am full anyways so I skip the rest of the lettuce.
  12. Yea I honestly don’t know enough about it to answer those questions. I did take what the doctor recommended for me and I’m guessing it was supposed to be calming because it was for anxiety.
  13. Good to know. If I ever do give it another try I will have to ask for sativa or hybrid. I am honestly not even sure what I got but There was no fighting the cravings with the stuff I got. I’m sure it was supposed to be calming though because I got what the dr recommended for anxiety.
  14. Awe, your pup sure picked a good human to take care of her. I will definitely look into it. Thanks.

    Not losing weight

Do you mean pre op or post op?
  16. I tried it for anxiety but I honestly don’t even know if it helped because I was too busy eating everything.

  18. Congratulations. You have done amazing!!
  19. I tried medical marijuana pre op and it gave me the munchies. Doesn’t it do that for you guys? Is there some secret to not eating everything in the house??

    meal kits for bariatrics?

Let us know if you do try those baribox meals. I am curious about the taste. I still think they should show the food in something other than a bag on their website to make it look more appealing but I have a feeling it’s will taste good.

Did you lose your tummy fat last?

I am currently 9 pounds from normal BMI and my stomach is still holding more fat than the rest of my body. I think that’s a thing as we get older that we store it in our bellies.

    April 2022 Surgery Buddies

Alieve was the only thing that helped the withdrawal headache for me. Can’t have it post op but you can pre op.

    Food Before and After Photos

Yea, The other day I ordered their half salad and half sandwich and the 1/2 salad was enough for me too. I saved the sandwich for dinner. Good idea to order it with extra chicken though and just save half because it’s more expensive to do the pick two than to do a whole salad or whole sandwich.

    Food Before and After Photos

Wow. I wish my stomach was that small. I am a year out and i Can easily eat a normal serving. Still not restaurants triple servings but more than I would like.

    Any pre op smokers

I did not smoke immediately pre op but I was a past smoker. I just wanted to say that if you do want to quit and are able to quit for a couple of weeks for the surgery it gets much easier to choose to remain that way. You have to want to do it but if you do, don’t sell yourself short just because it’s hard in the beginning. For me it got easier every day I went without.
