Are you asleep during gastric sleeve or sedation
ShoppGirl replied to Trixxx's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I met with the anesthesiologist in the hospital the morning of surgery but yes, general anesthesia for me in the US as well. -
I am so sorry that you are feeling this way. There is tons of support here for sadness and moodiness but if you are suicidal I agree you need to call the suicide hotline right away, please. Once you are out of immediate danger there is tons of support here but right now you need someone local who can keep you safe.

It looks like people got you covered for at home. I will second not stocking up on too many protein shakes. Our tastes can change, especially sweet things and I had to give away a couple cases of them. For the hospital an extra long phone charging cord and pajama pants to wear under your gown as your up and about. I used mens extra big ones and they were comfy enough to keep on (didn’t rub anything because I woke up from surgery with a binder on my stomach).

Feeling bloated....why ?
ShoppGirl replied to thinblueline's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Did you maybe eat more salt than usual?? That’s the only thing I can think of. -
How long does it take to eat normally at a normal pace?
ShoppGirl replied to Lucylovesfood's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have the opposite problem. I can eat faster and more than I would like to so I have to keep trying to slow down and measure my food. I agree we are all different but the grass is not necessarily greener over here. I think as time goes by you will be the one in a better place. -
Laparoscopic vs. Robotic surgery?
ShoppGirl replied to BariatricMD's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I admit I don’t know a ton about it but I think I would go with robotic because robots are so precise. I had very little pain post op and i told the NP that I like to think that was because I did so good on the liver shrink diet and she said she is sure it was part of it that my liver was small and out of the way. Well if that is true then I’m guessing a robot could manipulate things around with even less bumping and bruising meaning less pain (I assume). This is also assuming that a doctor is right there ready to go if something goes wrong. -
Negative IgG, spike antibody test four months post-vaccination (J&J)?
ShoppGirl replied to fokele794's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
Is this the test to see how much of the vaccine you have in your body? -
I just asked my husband and he said they called him after like 2 1/2 hours and said that everything went fine And then after like five hours I texted him and said I was awake. I was awake and up walking before that but then I was in and out of sleep when I texted him I know I was in my room already.
-
Good. Glad to hear you are doing relatively well. Keep walking to get the gas out.

My hunger is back and I’m gaining.
ShoppGirl posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am currently just over a year out from sleeve surgery. My goal was 160 but the lowest I got was 169. I was beginning to accept that weight but now it has been creeping up ever since and this morning I was 179. I have still been eating good, but more. Around 1200-1400 calories a day. I thought that would be okay… that would at least maintain the 169 but I’m starting to realize that I need to keep the calories even lower. Probably because I am not very active. Idk what I am looking for in terms of a response. I think I am just putting this out there to hold myself accountable. I hadn’t even updated my profile to reflect the gain because I am so ashamed. I have got to stop snacking between meals I know it but it’s so hard with the hunger back. Did anyone else start gaining back this early out. Could it be because I was lower BMI to start and 169 really was my set point and this is the 10 pound bounce back? I guess I could be happy at this weight, but not any heavier, i am just really hoping that I don’t gain anymore. -
My hunger is back and I’m gaining.
ShoppGirl replied to ShoppGirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yea I’m not eating bad food either. I am just eating more of the food I have been eating because I am still hungry. I did lose one pound though so I’m hoping I at least won’t gain anymore. I know One pound could be water weight but I’m cautiously optimistic. -
Ooh also hersheys makes zero sugar candy bars and quest candy bites are pretty good with the added bonus of protein.
-
Hummmm…I’m sure someone else who actually experienced it has more advice but if you haven’t tried it maybe slow down taking more time in between sips.
-
I have never had them but I’m pretty sure you get them from eating too much. Are you stopping at the first sign of restriction.
-
Yea and if you like it directly on the rack you have to be careful and not cut it too small. Also because it drips sometimes put a cookie sheet on the rack below.
-
Have you tried the cauliflower crust. I personally like it just as much as regular. And they have it at Walmart in the freezer section now with or without toppings. I like it without cause I make white pizza with ricotta and cheese (and chicken). Tip: if you are like me and would only want one slice at a time, cut the crust or pizza in slices when you get home and it’s partially thawed then freeze and you can pull out just one slice whenever you want it.

I just tried something new. It’s called frozen yogurt bark and their are tons of recipes out there but you basically just use Greek yogurt and place in a parchment lined baking sheet and freeze. The only difference is the flavor of yogurt and the toppings. I am not a huge fan of Greek yogurt but with the toppings (sugar feee chocolate chips and pecans) it was still good. I made them In ice cube trays because I wanted to know if I bought an Easter mold if I could make them for the kids in fun shapes. I think it will work but It’s taking alot longer to freeze than I thought. I am going to try it with regular yogurt next. Not as much protein but still sugar free and low calorie and I like the taste a lot better. Anyways, Google it if you are interested.

Absolutely none and I didn’t quite reach my goal weight and gained ten pounds yet I’m still thrilled to be just “overweight” now.

My wife and gastric bypass struggles
ShoppGirl replied to thinblueline's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with sleevemealone. If she continues to have trouble she absolutely should consider another doctor. It sounds like she may be doing a little better now though. I don’t know if anyone told you guys this but typically people dump on certain things. Too much sugar or fat typically and by keeping a food log and notating when she dumps she may be able to figure out what her trigger foods are. Then it’s just a matter of avoiding those foods or sometimes only eating small quantities of the food to avoid dumping. I had the sleeve and I have not yet dumped so others who have may have more advice on this. -

Ha. I was like what the heck. Lol -
It happens. I am only a year post op. Didn’t quite get to my goal weight and gained ten pounds back to boot. We are all just human. Try not to beat yourself up.

ShoppGirl replied to Amo1377's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would maybe press them a little more. That doesn’t seem right. Did you ask to get on a cancellation list for that may procedure. That’s a long time when your in pain. -
Awesome. Let us know how you are doing as soon as you are feeling up to it.
