Flight home 5 days after surgery

I would have been able to but I had very little pain or issues post op. Some people will say they couldn’t have because of pain or nausea, etc. i wonder if you can get something from the doctor to change your flight if you have any issues??

Alcohol 3 weeks post sleeve op.

I would trust my teams instruction on the timeline (whether they think you are healed enough), but if I did decide to have a drink I would try it at home first (same mixer and all) to make sure it doesn’t make you sick. We are all different and our bodies react differently. For me, I can’t stand the taste of rum anymore and I used to drink it often enough. I can’t drink it fast enough to get a buzz so it seems like a waste of calories. I have tried a few times and it just tastes awful to me now. I have heard others who dumped and some it just made them feel sick while others got beyond inebriated so make sure you try it at home first and have a plan for your ride home.

    Soon

I second keeping busy and getting rid of all the temptations. I ordered adult crafts from Amazon but you could do anything. Read a book, binge watch Netflix, organize a cabinet, literally whatever you have to do to distract yourself from food. If it’s a serious problem you may want to discuss with the bariatric therapist but if it’s just mild head hunger you can just keep busy.

    Help with protein

It probably didn’t sell because it didn’t taste very good. I can’t imagine cream cheese with no fat.

    Help with protein

It seems like others have suggested everything I can think of except for the tuna pouches. Do they have mercury?? They are right next to the canned tuna. Also you could get rotisserie chicken to make chicken salad. I do this often to save prep time.

    Laxatives

Yea I took milk of magnesia to get it to pass but once it did I just took benefiber daily to keep me regular. And once I got back to a normal serving size of food I was able to wean myself off of that (some people need to take it forever though). Tip. Walmart has a generic benefiber powder that worked just fine.

    April 2022 Surgery Buddies

I am about a year out and I was worried I would lose all the weight and then gain it back like I always do. It’s just because of all the yo-yo diets we have all done that didn’t work out.

    What's Your Food Nemesis?

I noticed that popcorn is a slider food for me as well. I do the skinny pop but I have eaten two of the individual bags on more than one occasion and probably could eat even more if I allowed myself.

    What's Your Food Nemesis?

Pizza. I could eat it for every meal for the rest of my life if I had to. Also any type of desert really. I don’t really crave them but if I see them I can’t resist.

    Advice!

I had a couple of food funerals and then did really good on the pre op diet. I was worried there were things I may never be able to eat again. At one year out though I can eat anything I ever did.

    Video of surgery?

I’m not sure if I would want to see all that but I do agree for 20k it should be included. Lol

    Intro and question

I am so sorry to hear you are not getting support in your family. You will find tons of support here though so stick around. If you feel you must get your sister on board, I suggest taking her along to one of your appointments. The doctors know that having a support system is important so they shouldn’t mind taking the time to answer some of her questions.

    Eating

Setting alarms is a good idea but also having a schedule helps. Easily out I would “eat” at 9-12-6 and had “snacks” at 3 and 9 so I was “eating” every three hours. At a year out I still stick to this same schedule. Your team mah require more or less snacks or whatever but come up with something that works for you and stick to it. This way when the hunger comes back you are in the habit of eating before you should get super hungry.

    Weight loss starts when?

I weighed exactly the same day after hospital but many people do gain and some lose. It just varies like our bodies.

    pain medication

You may be one of the people with very little pain afterwards. I woke up on pain meds and asked them to take me off of them because I was in so little pain. They said when the nerve block wore off the pain may get worse but it never did.
  19. I started out logging calories. Now I pretty well know what meals fit within that calorie range and I can eat any of those measured meals without having to think about it. But if I have anything new or out if the ordinary I have to figure it out. Measuring and counting is the only way I have ever lost calories. My intuition must be defective lol.

Absolutely. I was extremely nervous through the whole process. It’s worth it though.

    Calories

Some people say that hot beverages such as tea help when they are hungry.

    interview

It’s a medical decision not a personal one. It’s not like a job interview where they are judging your personality and All that they just want to know you are healthy physically and mentally to withstand the surgery and the lifestyle changes you will need to make post surgery.

    Carbs

You will probably find that very nutritionist or dietician has a different stance on what you need to pay attention to. Probably the best rule of thumb will be to go by what you team suggests and stick with that as long as it works for you.
