Am I being a big baby

If the shakes are too thick you can dilute them with milk or water.

    Weight stall at 9 months

What is your current BMI? I got down close to my goal and stalled and then gained and it was the end of my weight loss. If you aren’t close to goal though it could just be a fluctuation. A three pound gain could be anything. Small fluctuations like that happen. For me when I eat carbs especially. It’s water weight and it goes away after a couple days without carbs. Are you still tracking what you eat? If you haven’t reached your bodies happy weight or accidentally put yourself into maintenance by increasing calories it is just a fluctuation. Time will tell.
  3. I have repeating alarms on my phone for all the same things. See most of us need reminders to keep us in line.

    Psychology appt anxious

My appointment only took about 15 minutes. It seemed like after he realized that I do have a mental illness but I am aware of it and in treatment with someone else he could check that box more easily. To be honest he didn’t ask me much about my relationship with food either. Although they are supposed to make sure you do not have any untreated mental illness or food addictions. The worst thing that will happen is that they say they want to see you back a few times before they sign off on your surgery. I think it is very rare that they would flat out deny you. My advice is to try to relax and just be honest. If they feel you need a few sessions to work out your issues with food or whatever it is for your own good. Dealing with any issues they find will only make you more successful when you do have your surgery.
  5. Any old picture where you are at your higher weight will do. The point is that it’s easier to see the difference between the two different sizes when it’s a picture for some reason than it is to see in our reflection.

Day 3 post op and protein shakes?

Ooh yea protein shakes should be on your full liquids list. I doubt they will be too thick but if they are you can dilute them with water.

Day 3 post op and protein shakes?

Are you on full liquids? I was when I left the hospital as well but not everyone is. If your not it won’t kill you to miss your protein goal by a little bit for a couple of days. Some people struggle for weeks and they are ultimately okay. I wouldn’t advance the diet faster than my team suggests.

    Incision pain

If they did a leak test on me it was during surgery because I don’t remember one.
  9. I do have days when I look in the mirror and still think I look the same. I am still not as small as I would like to be but I think I see a larger person in the reflection than I should. It’s called body dysmorphia. Some people say to take a picture of yourself and put it next to a picture of yourself pre surgery and that is supposed to help. I am fine with chicken post op. I don’t like it as much but it doesn’t make me sick or anything. I never liked pork. With crystal light I used to like fruit punch as it is but post surgery it’s too sweet so I mix it with watermelon which is not as sweet and I like it that way. I just mix up a gallon which uses two packets. No I did not have my liver punctured. That is the first I have heard of that but I bet that is why we have to do the liver shrink diet to try and help reduce that happening. I’m sorry you have gone through so much. It sounds like you should soon be in the uphill swing of things though. I have heard of people liking things post surgery that they didn’t like pre op so maybe you will like other proteins that you didn’t like if you try them?? I know that I like fish a lot more than I did pre op but I did like it some before.

Soaking in a tub after sleeve surgery

Makes you wonder when the rules are THAT different what goes into deciding.

Soaking in a tub after sleeve surgery

I didn’t ask about the tub but was told to wait a month to get I to the pool. I’m guessing it’s similar.
  12. That’s a really good idea. Maybe try to change one habit at a time but before surgery so it’s one less thing to worry about.
  13. I agree I would wait until I was getting in an excess of 64 ounces of fluids.
  14. Seriously you gave me such a chuckle because that is exactly the kind of thing I worry about. Pre WLS I was a Coke Zero fiend. I drank like a 12 pack a day (so yes you can live without water I’m proof). Anyways, as I left from visiting my grandma in her nursing home each week I would begin to wonder about things like how will I get my Coke Zero and my snacks since I do not have kids. I was glad when Walmart delivery started in my area because a lot of times Amazon is out of Coke Zero and I will be counting on those services someday to get my stuff. PS you don’t have to continue on protein shakes but some of us choose to stay on one a day even after it’s required but don’t worry Amazon delivers these as well 🤣
  15. OMG this sounds so much like something I would have come up with to worry about. Lol You will be fine. I am over a year out and I eat on the same schedule I did pre op and I have been for quite a while. You eventually get back to a “normal” way of eating. You will eat close to a normal serving size (not a restaurant serving that is three times what you need) and you will eat that and should be satisfied. You may eat snacks. Some teams allow them and others do not. But you will be fine when you get old as long as they feed you as much as often as they feed themselves.
  16. I agree with lizonaplane, I was thin when I met my husband. Like size zero thin because I had just gone through a divorce and I lost weight but by the time he asked me to marry him I was chunky and I continued to gain from there. Now he probably wouldn’t lie and say that I was his ideal size but he still loved me for me. Now post WLS I am a size ten because this seems to be where my body is happy and he acts more like he is physically attracted to me again. You know the pats on the butt and noticing a new pair of jeans, that sort of thing. Although he never would have admitted that he wasn’t before. I think that this would apply to someone who likes bigger women and them getting slimmer as well. They may not be as attracted to you if your relationship was only surface level but if someone loves you they love you for all of you and that’s not going to change just because of a change of appearance.

    November Surgery Buddies!!!

lol. Well at least temporarily you will lose a pound or two.

I will eat real food again right?

Yes. It wasn’t long after I got back to normal foods that I began to try foods just to make sure I could still tolerate them. Some people take a little while longer to tolerate some things but I was fine with everything I tried and I can now eat anything I had pre surgery to include bread and lettuce which are two things that give a lot of people some trouble for a while.

    First dumping

That may have been from the artificial sweetener that it worked as a laxative. This is the case for many people. Even those without WLS.

    The lovely 3rd week stall

Don’t forget that your weight varies by like 3-5 pounds based on time of day too. I always went in the morning and one time I went late afternoon and it seemed like I had gained and I was upset but then the next morning I was back down. I thought my new scale at home was off and I had gained since the dr scale was the same.

Ok, so here's some SUPER flattering pics lol

Man those bruises look just awful. How much longer do you have to do those shots? Maybe if your tummy starts to feel better you should try them there? With the nurse suggesting them there and someone else saying theirs didn’t hurt too bad maybe it really is better to do them in that location. So Glad to hear the pills are going down better with the warm broth. I never would have thought of trying that. Hope you feel like you did in that first pic real soon.

High Risk -- Scared of complications

If I were you I would continually remind myself that WLS is a relatively very safe procedure that you get to go into as a planned procedure. Think of all the possible risks and complications that will come with all the procedures and surgeries you will most likely need and have no choice but to do if you do nothing about your weight.

    First Appointments Monday!!!

    Congratulations.

    Exhausted....

Wow. I don’t understand much of that but it doesn’t sound fun. I am glad you have your consult Monday. For most of us insurance requires 6 months of a physician monitored diet before they approve the surgery but it goes by faster than you think.

Ha That gave me a good chuckle.
