I never had reason to ask but I’m gonna say regular foods because of the seeds. I’m sure you could have seedless watermelon sooner but can’t say when. Sorry.
-
First off, PLEASE DO NOT CHEAT. At this time it wouldn’t be just a few extra calories. Your tummy is still healing and you could seriously hurt yourself. That being said it is possible what you are experiencing is actual hunger (a few do) but more likey that it is just extra acid or head hunger. Are you on a PPI? Many doctors prescribe them automatically but some you have to ask for it. The way to know the difference between actual and head hunger is by what you are craving. If you are craving something specific (usually something you should not have) it is most likely head hunger. Actual hunger you will be craving anything. Even another protein shake sounds good. Some people say warm liquids such as tea and coffee help with the hunger whatever the cause. Not sure if you can have caffeine yet but I’m sure decaf works as well.

How often do you guys weigh yourselves?
ShoppGirl replied to SleeveToBypass2023's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I weigh myself every morning after I pee. Early out it can sorta mess with your head but I did it anyways. Couldn’t help myself. Lol -
These are things you may want to talk to the bariatric therapist about. If you aren’t sure you can follow the rules then maybe you aren’t quite ready. Maybe you need to explore these concerns a little further. You don’t have to rush the process. Wait until you are ready.

For some people certain things like bread sit heavy and they lose interest in it or certain meats are dry and just harder to swallow but that’s not everyone. I am 14 months out and I can eat anything I ate pre op. Just in smaller portions.
-
Well getting sick should certainly teach you but hopefully you learn by just not doing it because you know you will get sick.
-
You will most likely get sick if you take too big of bites. Especially in the beginning.
-
You will have to work on both of these things. The sleeve surgery should reduce your hunger hormone and will make you eat smaller portions but it won’t stop you from going back for seconds and thirds after a bit of time passes. If you are eating because you are board or because of emotions you may benefit from a bariatric therapist because boredom and emotional eating is disordered eating. The fluids you will have to learn to take smaller sips more often but your body should send you signals to help make that change. It will hurt if you drink too fast.

One year post op -image problem
ShoppGirl replied to JEANMR1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are experiencing what is called body dysmorphia. Many people benefit from taking a current photo of themselves and putting it next to a pre op photo. -
Yea you have to set a goal that is realistic for YOUR body. But that doesn’t mean you have to stop there of course if you are still losing easily. I went past 180 and tried for 160 but I only got to 169 and then I gained so I realized that I had reached my low weight and gained back the typical ten pounds that most people do before they settle in to their maintenance weight.
-
I was able to drink fairly normal that same day In the hospital. I think The amount of inflammation varies drastically from person to person and this really impacts the drinking the first few days.
-
I did reach my goal weight but one bit of advice I am uniquely qualified to offer is about goal weight. I have bipolar disorder as well and statistically those with bipolar do not always lose AS MUCH weight as those who don’t have it. My nurse practitioner said she is guessing it’s between the meds and the depression we are just up against more struggles. Anyways, you may have noticed that my goal weight is a little higher than some. I am still trying to lose a little more but I set my first goal a little higher because I wanted to set myself up for success. The 180 weight is one that I remembered attaining before on diets and I knew it was a weight in which I felt good about myself and wanted to go out and do things. A weight where I could easily find clothes and I felt comfortable in them. There have been others with bipolar disorder that I have noticed on here who have set their goals lower and some who have reached them already so it is possible but For me I set my mind that if I got to 180 I would consider the surgery a success and I think that has helped me to not feel like a failure for not reaching a less realistic goal. If that makes sense.

Hello and welcome to the group. It sounds like you are doing relatively well. Glad to hear it. Just keep working on those fluids and protein and you will be to purées and then soft foods before you know it.
-
Absolutely not. As long as you are stable it will not be an issue. They are looking for undiagnosed or untreated mental illness.

What to eat in the soft food stage?
ShoppGirl replied to Happy Stylist's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It’s made from chick peas. Most people eat is on crackers or pretzels. Obviously not if you are in the early stages post op though. -
Favorite Grocery Products

Yasso Frozen Greek yogurt bars. They sell them at Walmart near the ice cream and the mint chocolate chip is my favorite. -
Not every bypass patient dumps. It’s about 30% like lizonaplane said and not everyone of them dumps on things such as fruit. I think it’s mostly from large quantities of added sugars for most people. It’s a good idea to try anything new at home for the first time though. Just in case. And any sweet treats I would start with maybe a bite to see. Wait a few hours before trying any more than that. Or better yet. Just avoid it alltogether. Better for your weight loss.

Do you ever "forget" you had surgery?

Do you ever "forget" you had surgery?
ShoppGirl replied to lizonaplane's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Someone recently posted a thread on here saying “it was the iron” and that they got the multivitamin with the 18mg of iron and had no nausea. I wonder if you can take that and take another smaller dose of iron at a different time of day?? -

ShoppGirl replied to lizonaplane's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Kinda in line with what Ms.sss suggested, when I was early out I needed fiber as many of us do and I wanted to get it from food to get off the supplements. I would eat My protein for dinner and veggies as a snack. Perhaps if you ate a slightly lighter dinner and then ate a veggie a little while later?? Would that make you feel full without feeling discomfort?? I know it’s not ideal but neither is being in pain daily. I guess I would run it by my team first because it could be close to grazing to eat just an hour or so later but maybe given the way your body is responding something out of the normal is what is needed? -
Does anyone have a sample/suggestions to what a liquid diet pee op should look like
ShoppGirl replied to mafer1980's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everyone’s is different. You really need to check with your team to see what yours will be. -
Do you ever "forget" you had surgery?
ShoppGirl replied to lizonaplane's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I bet the reason that I am able to forget about it more than the two of you is because my restriction doesn’t kick in unless I eat more than I should so I am acting more like I am just on a diet restricting my portions myself with the added bonus of still slightly decreased hunger hormones. -
Post op ketamine infusions
ShoppGirl replied to redhead_che's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had only heard of this on passing so I googled it. It says it can cause “stomach problems” as a side effect. Because of this I would definitely ask the surgeons opinion about when it’s okay to continue treatments. And maybe research a little further to figure out what “stomach problems” they are speaking of and how surgery will impact them. -

ShoppGirl replied to lizonaplane's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had surgery 14 months ago and I do forget about the actual surgery part but not about the fact that I am watching my weight still. I don’t think I will ever be able to forget that because if I do I will gain. If the two of those things are intertwined for you you may not ever really forget all about it either. -
