  1. I second Ms.sss idea to do them simultaneously. Most of us have to do 6 months of a supervised diet and when you are ready for surgery that sucks. Granted you will be out a few copays if you decide against surgery but that’s it.

I guess I shouldn’t say grow. More like I get a beautiful healthy plant and bring it home and then hope and pray to keep it alive just a little longer than the last one. Lol

Ugh, I am trying to grow an orchid and I bet I have failed way more than you. Good news is if you save your receipt Walmart will exchange it. This policy may bankrupt them if they get too many people like me.

Did you really look it up? I’m curious where it came from. I’ve never heard it before.
  5. Also, i was lower BMI but I went in there with my mind set on bypass. My surgeon said (as so many people do) that the surgery is just a tool. He said that the bypass would be like getting out a jackhammer when a regular hammer would do the job just fine. Both would work but the bypass was just overkill for me.
  6. Yea you definitely wouldn’t like this one. It has the logo printed repeatedly on the vinyl or whatever it is. It’s muted but it’s still there in a plenty. Lol. But I really do love the versatility of this one.

    Vitamin patches

yea and you also have that whole feeling sick thing to kinda remind you with the antibiotic. Lol. I get it that the patches would be way simpler but the consensus does seem to be that they are unreliable, unfortunately. I have the worst memory and was terrible too in the beginning. The alarms really do help me. A friend showed me how to set them to go off every day so you only have to set it up one time.

    29 and here

Welcome and congratulations on your surgery date. This is a heck of a journey you are in for. Check out the may surgery thread to find others at the same stage as you.
  10. If you do want designer as a splurge, Michael Kors has a bag that can be worn as a cross body purse or as a waist bag. I got mine as a bday gift from my best friend. We found it at The outlets. It’s basically Just a small purse in which both the straps can come off so you can unhook it and put it around your waist and the strap adjusts to fit your waist, but it’s cute.
  11. That’s a great idea to give yourself a gift when you hit goal. Just keep in mind that if it’s clothing that you may either continue to lose or Gain the ten-ish pounds of Bounce back weight that many of us do.
  12. I am on medications and the absorption issues with sleeve are less. Plus the need for vitamins tends to be less with sleeve. Most still need a multi and calcium but most don’t need extra vitamins that the other surgeries require.

What do you do to remember if you have to take an antibiotic or something. Anything particular?? Maybe do that.

    Hunger hormones

I would call. If you haven’t had any struggles on the liquid phase perhaps they will add a purée phase between the two. Most of us have a purée phase anyways. Or, like I suggested before maybe they will at least let you have another protein shake. The extra protein shake should help without technically advancing your diet. They do fill you up for a good 3-5 hours. I know because even at a year out I still have one everyday for breakfast and depending on when I wake up it keeps me full till noon. I would choose food instead if it didn’t keep me full. But just three a day it may not keep you full long enough. If that makes sense.

    Consult questions

The first question I would ask is whether you will see him or her again before surgery. Not that it matters but if you will you can relax a bit that if you forget a question you can ask it next time. Also, make a list of questions and take it with you which it sounds like you may be doing.

    Vitamin patches

Do you have other pills you have to take? I take my multi vitamin with my other pills in the morning (after a protein shake) then I take one calcium with lunch at noon and another at 3. I still have alarms for the 12 and 3 ones but the morning ones I remember because the bottle is with my other pills. Eventually it becomes pretty much habit and I remember for the most part but If I am doing anything out of schedule I still forget so I still use the alarms. Oh and I say all this because my team also said no patches. They say there is no proof that they work yet.
  17. I had the same thing. Well I had a two week reduced carb/sugar diet and then one day of liquids. I didn’t realize till I got talking on here how lucky I was cause I thought mine was tough enough. I still say it was the worst part of the whole process for me.

Hydration and vitamin bar ? 🤔

Kinda expensive though if you can just pay an out patient co pay for fluids.

    Liquid Diet

Yea unfortunately you just have to tough the pre op diet out. For me (I didn’t have much post op pain) the pre op diet was the worst part of the process. The liquids post op was easier because you aren’t hungry at least.
  20. Maybe take some of those airborne vitamin C things. Some people say they make your cold duration shorter??
  21. ShoppGirl

Please tell me I haven't failed.

What does deleted through replacement mean? Did the OP just change their screen name?? I don’t get it.

Self pay- insurance doesn’t cover WLS

Some places that do self pay offer an insurance that will cover if you have any complications.
  23. Hello and welcome. I have not heard of it either but would like to know more. Hopefully someone out there has had it done.

Please tell me I haven't failed.

You say you don’t weigh your food, perhaps the calories you are logging are not quite accurate. Can you commit to doing it for just a couple of weeks? Maybe you are underestimating your portions and eating more calories than you think. You won’t have to weigh and measure forever. Once you have done it a few times with a meal you should be able to pretty much eyeball it but I know I was surprised when I measured and weighed things for the first time.

    So I learned something today

They are a little pricey compared to my generic crystal light is the only reason I haven’t switched over. They are actually pretty cool. It’s a specially designed bottle and the flavors are in cartridges. You can adjust the intensity of the flavor on the cartridge. And they ones that have added vitamins and caffeine and stuff.
