Super happy but a bit confused
ShoppGirl replied to Tami10's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
If they are more expensive brands then that explains it. I am always at least one size smaller in more expensive brands. -
April 2022 Surgery Buddies
ShoppGirl replied to Crinkles's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just click on quote and it will quote what they said like I just did and then type your reply. -
If I were you and I still felt like that three weeks later I would contact them again. If nothing else they need to be aware that you are still not holding anything down. If you really are vomiting everything up, You may need supplemental nutrition.

What Is the best body scale to purchase?
ShoppGirl replied to Lsoto81's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wonder if they do that on purpose like expensive brand names make us a smaller size so we buy their jeans. -
Try contacting your pharmacy and see if you can crush your pills. Some cannot safely be crushed but many can.

Have you looked into the Yasso Greek yogurt bars? They are still a special occasion treat because they have added sugars, but they are only 100 calories a bar for the ones not dipped in chocolate. They have them at Walmart and it’s Greek yogurt so they have 5G protein. They have mint chocolate chip, cookie dough and sea salt & caramel. Not sure what phase you are in or whether they fit i to your calorie budget but they do taste pretty good.

Surgery this morning UPDATE:
ShoppGirl replied to vilmarie.25's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds like you are doing great. Just keep sipping and walking and you should do just fine. -
Good for you for doing it anyways. And four miles. That’s awesome.

Good luck 🍀

Tomorrow Is The Day!

Have you checked out the thread “weirdest non scale victories?” I always recommend it to people with last minute nerves or on the fence about surgery. Just helps remind you of all the little things that will start changing for you soon to add to your list of major reasons for doing the surgery. -
Finally happening! Today is the day 😊
ShoppGirl replied to Merill's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
You really don’t need much. I was happy I brought a long charging cord for my phone, headphones (I watch tv at night so I pulled up netflix and listened to that) and baggy pajama pants to wear under my gown when I walked the halls. -
6 weeks out - I'm very worried - could I stretch my sleeve with this amount of food??
ShoppGirl replied to bestdecisionmade's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Many people say that warm beverages like tea and coffee help with their hunger. Decaf if you aren’t allowed caffeine of course. -
At first glance I thought I read you were getting surgery at 8:45 at night. It’s pretty normal to be nervous, it’s the first step in a life changing journey. Good luck tomorrow.

It’s difficult to say how I would have done without the fluids I got at the hospital but aside from that I would’ve been able to go home same day. I was up and about at the hospital without any issues. I had very little pain post op. They already took me off all the pain meds and sent me home the next day when I was supposed to stay two nights.

Illness shortly after surgery
ShoppGirl replied to copley95's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was going to suggest immodium too but wondered if stopping it from coming out the other end would increase the vomiting?? I figured with diarrhea they may need an IV to replenish fluids but at least it wouldn’t hurt the healing tummy. Of course I am not really sure if that is how it works?? -
That’s a hard one. I only had to do liquids for one day, thankfully. I’ve heard Some people say that they freeze their shakes to make them seem like a frosty treat. Others who make homemade broth that swear it’s far more flavorful and palatable. You can make jello from the box to get more flavor options if you aren’t already. You can make frozen pops from different flavors of crystal light. You can also mix drink flavor packets to create new flavors for drink and frozen pops.

Illness shortly after surgery
ShoppGirl replied to copley95's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Know what’s weird. My husband and I caught a stomach but shortly after surgery and he vomited a lot. I only did one time and had worse diarrhea than him. Idk if it was just coincidence or somehow it hit me different because of the surgery?? I have to admit it didn’t hurt or anything to vomit. I did that time and once because of my vitamin and it didn’t hurt either time. I was a little further out than you though. I agree and would call the dr to see if there is anything you can do to lessen this. Maybe a stronger rx for the Nausea now. And definitely call for them to arrange for fluids if it gets too bad and you need them. -

ShoppGirl replied to bestdecisionmade's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I often times would and probably could eat more but I stop myself when I finish what I have measured for myself. I actually do believe I have a larger sleeve because I could eat more if I let myself. I have learned to stop with that portion and when I wait a few minutes I realize that I am satisfied. I don’t wait for that full to the brim feeling anymore. Just to be satisfied. -
I think the most important ones to see right now are the OB for a blood test and then your nutritionist if you are indeed pregnant. But it’s best to find out asap so that you can speak to your nutritionist and learn what changes you would need to make to your diet right away. Don’t worry about telling the surgeon though, if they are rude who cares. It’s not like you did this on purpose. You were told by another doctor that you were fine. Stuff happens.

I know. I curse myself everytime I forget and go on a Saturday.

For fish, chicken or steak i have about 3-4 ounces and a small amount of veggies. But things like cauliflower pizza or tacos I have one slice or one taco. I can also eat almost a small burger or sandwich with thin low carb bread but nothing else with it. Salad I can eat about a half salad from most restaurants. I am trying to think of what else. I don’t eat much variety. But I am 14 months out. Your team Should have given you an amount that you should be eating at this stage. I wish I still had my paperwork but I threw it out. -

ShoppGirl replied to bestdecisionmade's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It’s interesting that you point out being tall because I have a long torso and wondered if my stomach is longer as well and I had a similar issue. I forget how many ounces I was eating at that stage but I could have also eaten more than my team expected at every given stage. I had to measure my food and like you I had to make myself stop at what I should be eating. Eventually my team said I would be able to eat about one serving of most things and that’s about true now. I am 14 months out and I have been eating a serving of most things for a while now. My NP said that I was ahead of most people at the earlier stages but to just measure my food and stop with the amount I should be eating and that’s what I did. The process still works. -
Okay so I was determined to find this bread today and I did. At my Walmart it is NOT in the freezer though. Just a very limited supply in stock so I guess it was either sold out or I walked right past it before. But they did have it and it’s with the regular bread. They have rolls too in the same brand.

I swear I replied to this earlier but maybe I’m losing it. Someone else suggested that you ask to do the appointment via zoom and I suggested that if they aren’t set up for zoom maybe they can mail you the packet and just do a telephone conference.

June surgeries? Tell me your preparations
ShoppGirl replied to Songbyrd420's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
You could figure out how you are going to measure your fluids and get used to always having a water bottle or something with you and keeping track like you will need to for a while post surgery. Also, you can practice eating slower. Really chewing your food well and taking time between bites. Another thing, depending on your pre op diet, you may want to find a protein shake or two that you like. Don’t stock up on too many though because your tastes may change post surgery. Especially for sweet things.
