Did you skip roght over the cream of type soups. Those were my next thing after liquids. I don’t love them but was happy to have something more substantial and they went down well. Just be sure to follow the directions and mix it with milk or water so it’s thin.

Congratulations on the loss and your surgery date. Just don’t be surprised if you don’t lose as much as others do on the pre op diet because you have already started to lose that initial water weight which is awesome. Anything you lose now just makes it that much easier later. Keep it up.

I agree 100%. I didn’t have any issues with any food but some people have intolerances that cause bathroom emergencies that you would much rather have at home. Why risk it.

Worried about eating
ShoppGirl replied to dani_d99's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would personally trust your team but my instructions say if you have any trouble with a stage you can always go back to the previous phase so I say do it as you feel comfortable advancing to the next stage. You can go slower, just not faster through the stages. If I had to guess though you will be ready sooner than you think to advance to the next stage. Liquids and purées can get pretty boring. -
Pre-PreOP Diet and Appointment Jitters
ShoppGirl replied to LRSB's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
I seriously doubt they will say anything about your gain unless they specifically told you not to gain? Our weights fluctuate and they know that. My pre op diet wasn’t bad. I was allowed 2 shakes and then a lean protein low carb dinner (meat and veggies). Plus we had free foods like jello and pickles we could have if we just had to eat something. If I remember correctly we could chose between shakes and yogurt. And we were allowed to have broth. I didn’t love it but I wasn’t starving at all. Even if your is more strict because of your liver you just gotta keep your eye on the prize. I know I could do anything for a week or two in order to change my life for the better. And during that diet, if it gets a little touch check out the thread called “weirdest non scale victories” and see some of the changes you have to look forward to post surgery. Also, whenever you want to eat, hop on here and get talking. We are here to help you through it. -
Stalls happen to everyone. Sometimes they last just a week and sometimes they can last several. Some people even gain a couple pounds. Just stay the course. I know it’s hard but this process works if you stick to your plan. Just try to trust it. Stay off the scale for a week or two if it’s messing with your head too much.

https://www.eatthis.com/chicken-nachos-recipe/ it’s basically just Nachos but with chicken and black beans so they are a little healthier Than the original. I’m going to try a few with baked tortilla scoops and reduced fat cheese.
-
Ooh I must add. It doesn’t take anywhere near the ten minutes the recipe calls for to melt the cheese and I worried that the homemade tortilla chips would burn so I took them out asap. It was a lot 3.5 minutes and cheese was melted. (Chicken and beans were added at room temperature and they were warm too).

Well I thought couldn’t stand anchovies but love ceaser dressing. Now I know the secret ingredient I guess I can’t say that anymore. Maybe it’s the texture I don’t like and when they are made into a paste they are fine? -
For Gastric Bypass - Water intake question
ShoppGirl replied to WillowAspen's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
ugh, that news royally sucks. But at least it’s news that they know what’s going on and there is a treatment. So, light at the end of the tunnel. I’m sure it didn’t feel like such a bright light but a year from now this will all be a blip in your memory. Just try to focus on the positive. You’ve got this. -
Meal preppers - looking for some advice/suggestions
ShoppGirl replied to Tufflaw's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ooh I have those supper cubes to freeze my chili and I love them. You can fit several cubes in a ziplock bag and it’s perfectly shaped to fit in the freezer. -
Ps. It’s very filling so if you don’t like soggy chips don’t make a lot. I cut the tortilla in 6 and I’m on my third slice and stuffed. I did use more chicken and beans then the recipe called for though so it’s a lot of protein.
-
So I tried them both ways (baked scoops and homemade tortillas). I actually liked them flavor wise about the same but the scoops were easier to eat. The wraps aren’t as crisp and sorta remind me of an open faced quesadilla but still very good. I made mine in a skillet first and then added toppings and baked. The first time I sprayed oil on the baking sheet and they came out crispier than the second time I forgot it. I will perfect this recipe though cause it’s too good to give up on. Even my husband liked it and he can eat anything he wants.

These looked so good that I set out to find some I can have. I’m sure yours were better though. -

So I made lower calorie/ low carb nachos. It’s a black bean and chicken nacho with homemade tortilla chips (from low carb wraps). On the side nachos in a baked scoop because I honestly didn’t think it was gonna work but they are pretty good. I just toasted the wrap in a skillet with cooking spray and salt and then topped with beans, chicken, cheese and onion and baked to melt the cheese. Then added the cold toppings. Hubby just came home and I met him at the door with my experiment. He said it was good too and he can eat anything he wants so that says something. -
Okay I was literally on my way to Walmart to get ingredients and I’m thinking this through. I don’t think after we toast the tortillas they can be re toasted to melt the cheese and stuff without burning. Idk. I stopped at Publix to grab a bag of baked scoops just in case. For 16 chips it’s 120 calories.
-
yea. If the salt doesn’t seem to stick I’d try the pam spray. That’s what the “recipe” called for.
-
Wow. I just looked at those mr tortilla chips on Amazon $5 a bag for 2oz. Why is healthy food so darn expensive. I am probably ordering them anyways but I just don’t think it’s fair.
-
Well I just seen a “recipe” for homemade ones. You just cut up wraps brush with oil or spray then bake (or air fry) and salt them. I was just wondering if they are any good.

The only advice I can give is to just keep going to the doctor and be annoying if you have to. If they say they are just sending you for fluids again ask why. Are they thinking this is going to just clear itself up? When should you expect this to get better?? I would just keep asking questions until they do something that seems proactive. And if that doesn’t work maybe see another surgeon. Does her primary know about the situation? Maybe he can help you advocate for her.

Okay I just did a quick google search and found these sample post op instructions. It looks like 1/2 cup is about when you should expect to feel full. Maybe measure out a bit less than half cup (divide it into four meals) until you can eat 1/2 cup comfortably. Consume 5 to 6 small meals daily until you can tolerate ½ cup of food at one time – then eat 3 small meals and 1 snack. Avoid drinking liquids 30 minutes before a meal and 1 hour after a meal. Take 20-30 undistracted minutes to eat each meal. Continue to eat and swallow slowly

I don’t have a balloon but I’m pretty sure that is what it is supposed to do. It is a restrictive procedure. The key for us with sleeve is to try to stop before we get to that full point. Usually one extra bite and we are quite uncomfortable. What does your doctor say about the amount you can eat? If you were expecting to be able to eat a little more then I would call them and see if there is anything they can do but as long as you are able to get your protein in I would assume it’s a good thing.

Monthly weigh in and measurements

That’s awesome. -
That may be why you have to take the extra pills. The bariatric vitamins are a bit more expensive but they have a lot of those extras included. Flintstones vitamins are designed for children so they do not have everything an adult needs included. I would print out the ingredients of a couple of the bariatric vitamins and see if you take one of those if you can cut back on the number of pills. I take the pro care health with 45 mg iron and I only have to take one a day plus my calcium.
