ShoppGirl replied to SleeveToBypass2023's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I read your post and wanted to cry for you. What an amazing milestone. Keep up the good work. You’ve got this!! -
They refer to that elevated pressure as white coat syndrome. The official or professional look of the white coat is said to make us slightly anxious.

Getting closer… timeline question
ShoppGirl replied to LookingForward22's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon didn’t want one initially, but after I mentioned I had a murmur as a baby he decided to do one in the hospital the morning of the surgery. Guess maybe I should have mentioned that sooner. We had time to kill anyways cause I couldn’t pee so they had to rush a blood pregnancy test. They really should give you a cup to bring home. -
I was worried about the same thing I didn’t have issues with fluids and I didn’t have any issues with food so I just progress through the stages as my doctor leave them out for me and everything was fine

Has anyone else taken this for depression and noticed weight gain. I added it about a month ago and have gained a couple pounds. It’s supposed to be weight neutral according to my dr?? In all fairness I have been eating more but it’s almost as if the medication is making me more hungry.

Only about 30% of bypass patients dump. From what I understand Even those that do can often have small amounts of sugar without dumping. It’s possible you would dump on a larger amount of sugar, but also very possible you never will.

Best Fast Food Bets after Bariatric Surgery
ShoppGirl replied to Alex Brecher's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
I went to Chick-fil-A today so I have one to add. Their kids meal has a five piece grilled chicken nugget and you can get fresh fruit as a side. Also for those a little further out you can get soft serve in a cup instead of a toy and even with that and a diet lemonade it’s 370 calories. Not bad for dinner, drink and desert. Plus it’s only $6.15. As for sauce they have a Buffalo one that was 25 calories, honey mustard for 50 and bbq for 45 if you need sauce. The nuggets and the fruit alone was only 200 calories with no sauce. -

How Long After Having A Stroke Did You Have To Wait For Weight Loss Surgery?
ShoppGirl replied to Weightloss55's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have not but would definitely say listen to the doctors. I know once I was ready for the surgery I wanted it to happen like yesterday but better to be safe than sorry. Once it’s all done and you have lost your weight a few extra months won’t make any difference. -
I’m sorry you are struggling. The only thing I can possibly help with is the fiber. You can only take in so much at a time and if all you are eating now are mostly veggies the eat more fiber doesn’t seem to be a solution. I was advised to take benefiber daily (Walmart had a generic in powder form that’s much cheaper). That was to be taken after I had a movement which I needed milk of magnesia the first time to make that happen. If you are on other meds I would say to ask your team if these two are okay for you to take but I suppose you could run it by a pharmacist at least.

Best Fast Food Bets after Bariatric Surgery
ShoppGirl replied to Alex Brecher's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
These are good tips. I wonder if these menu items mentioned are still available or if anyone has any new items to add to the list. I admit I haven’t tried a lot of fast food yet. Just fresco tacos so far. But I do love Chick-fil-A salads. I just bring my own dressing. -
Dinner party on soft foods
ShoppGirl replied to Melissa4444's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Honestly if you going to be gone for 6 or more hours you are probably going to want to pack a cooler of some sort anyways for drinks. Or at least I would. Post surgery I invested in a nice little yeti cooler and I take it everywhere so i have my water and crystal light with me at all times. I also bring my own salad dressing when I will be out for the day and know I will be eating out as long as I can do it discretely. Comes in handy to bring home leftovers as well. Probably don’t have to splurge on Yeti if you don’t live where it’s hot but packing drinks and snacks helps alot to make sure you can make the right choices all the time instead of having to eat what you shouldn’t because it’s all that’s available. -
Dinner party on soft foods
ShoppGirl replied to Melissa4444's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Hummmmm…I guess You could bring something with you to eat before or after. I mean if you feel comfortable eating a little fish there that’s obviously the easier option but if you don’t want to eat there then you will have to pack a snack I guess. -

If your anxious about it just eat before you go and don’t eat. Just say you had a big lunch and your still full or that your stomach has felt off or something like that. People comment for something to say but they really don’t care that much whether we eat for the most part. -
If you do start to show signs of dehydration contact your team and they should be able to arrange for you to get fluids as an out patient. I was so worried about having to go back into the hospital too but I didn’t have to. My team just made an appointment for me I went in for two bags of fluids and off I went feeling much better.

I just got a sample from Walmart of a drink packet that says it has three times the electrolytes of water alone plus 5 essential vitamins. Just thinking that this may be something that is good for those early post op. Ask your doctor of course. Has anyone else heard of this or tried it??

Best Multivitamin for Gastric Sleeve
ShoppGirl replied to Muffinman1119's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It varies greatly from surgeon to surgeon. It’s really a guessing game what you need before you get your labs. Once you get those they will adjust if necessary. Best thing to do is reach out to your team since they have your medical information and will have the best guess what you will need. My team also recommended bariatric advantage. I shopped around though and found pro care health multi with iron because it was cheaper and they were okay with me taking that too. -
Awesome. Keep it up.

Got a surgery date! Sept 6th!

Congratulations on your surgery date. -
I have heard of people that it has happened to on here a couple times but it’s best to see your doctor to see what is going on because it can be a symptom of so many different things.

Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD)
ShoppGirl replied to bestbudsoreosandmilk's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I’m sure it’s just the insurance companies excuse to not pay. Bipolar disorder use to be an automatic exclusion not too long ago. Any mental illness would cause an issue if one was unstable but if they are stable it shouldn’t matter.
