I take pro care health multi with 45 mg iron. It’s a true once a day bariatric vitamin that was approved by my team. I also take an over the counter calcium citrate twice a day. I was taking the bariatric advantage chews though the last time I had labs so I can’t really speak about the brand of calcium yet. My labs have been great with the pro care health multi though.

Reactive Hypoglycemia and anemia, almost 3 years out
ShoppGirl replied to Lynda486's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
Congratulations for your loss and keeping it off. Someone else just recently posted a thread about hypoglycemia. I have to admit I don’t know much about it. Glad to hear you seem to have figured out how to live with it though. -
Good luck tomorrow. How is the pre op going?

What non chewable vitamins are you taking daily?
ShoppGirl replied to OMoore85's topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
This is a little older so not sure the OP needs the info but I’m sure someone does. I take the pro care health multi with 45 mg of iron. It is a true one a day capsule that is reasonably priced for a bariatric vitamin. -
Me too. Somehow I missed this thread but I really hope rmp09 was able to get in to see someone. Hopefully during that intake interview they picked up on the urgency that they see someone soon.

How are you doing?

Vomiting after taking multi vitamin chewable tablet - 10th day post
ShoppGirl replied to Supafly82's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Most likely your nutritionist will recommend you get in the habit of eating breakfast so that won’t be an issue anymore but if you choose not to or can’t for whatever reason. You most likely will be able to tolerate a multi without iron on an empty stomach. For MOST people it’s the iron that causes an issue. Pro care health is a bariatric vitamin that sells their one a day multi capsule with and without iron and with two different mg of iron. You will of course want to take the iron in a separate tablet at another time in the day with food. Nothing says you have to take your vitamin in the morning though. You can take it with dinner if that’s easier for you. Or lunch. Just don’t forget that if you take calcium as well it should be separated from the iron by like 2 hours. -
Wow. Others pretty well covered it. Most important is like anything else this is your journey and you are unique. We are all here to answer questions and cheer you on but your experience will be different than ours and that’s okay. You will find your groove and come out a much healthier and most likely happier version of yourself. The simplest but often most difficult thing is to just trust the process.

There really should be like a National clothing and shake swap for bariatric patients. Lol

pre op diet for 3 weeks!
ShoppGirl replied to AmbiiNicole's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yea, probably because even without the nicotine the vape is technically still bad for your lungs they are finding out. You can do this though. When you want to eat or smoke just hop on this site. We are here to distract you and cheer you on. You’ve got this!! Ooh yea, not sure if you can have sugar free lolly pops but those help occupy your hands and mouth. They helped me. Or Maybe sugar free popsicles if you are allowed those?? -

pre op diet for 3 weeks!
ShoppGirl replied to AmbiiNicole's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well I can’t say much about the length of your pre op cause I’m sure if that’s what your team requires you just gotta white knuckle it, but if you find you can’t quit vaping cold Turkey and you have to postpone, try slowly decreasing the mg of nicotine by mixing juices. I did that till I got down to zero and I vaped that for a while but then it was much easier to quit the physical habit without the nicotine addiction as well. Having said that, I did quit cigarettes cold Turkey years ago and it can be done so keep trying. This life changing surgery is a pretty good incentive. -

Food Before and After Photos

I like to keep my food separate as well. I eat a bite of this and a bite of that but I don’t like the food to be mixed. My husband jokingly bought me a kid plate with the sections on it. I actually liked it. Lol -
Vomiting after taking multi vitamin chewable tablet - 10th day post
ShoppGirl replied to Supafly82's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ooh taking it with food should help alot. I took mine with my shake every morning without issue and one day I guess i was ahead of the game in my routine and I took it earlier on in terms of how much shake I had drank first and up it came instantly. That’s the only time I vomited post op and I never did it again. Arabesques idea to split them would work with your chewable one too. That’s a good idea If you can’t drink a full shake at once I bet. -
I hate protein drinks! Any protein pills?
ShoppGirl replied to lexie007's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I found a couple I liked before I did sleeve and I hated them post surgery. Too sweet tasting to me after. -
Ooh good. Well at least you are back on track now. Just try to relax. Good luck tonight.

Did they pick you up?? I’m hoping they did and that why you haven’t replied.

I hate protein drinks! Any protein pills?
ShoppGirl replied to lexie007's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Once you are allowed to have caffeine the premiere protein caffe latte is really good too if you like coffee drinks. I am 16 months out and I still have one every morning cause I like the taste and it’s convenient to get a jump start on my protein. -
I hate protein drinks! Any protein pills?
ShoppGirl replied to lexie007's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well it’s artificial sweeteners if that’s what you mean but I don’t mind them. My best advice is to go to convenience stores and try the ones they have so you can buy just one of a few flavors to try. -
Our bodies all recover differently. Best advice I can give is to give in and rest and take naps as needed. Your body recovers while you sleep so the more you do it now when your body is calling out for it the quicker you will recover in the long run. As far as food for energy, you may or may not be able to talk them into letting you bring in a protein shake but when you get a little further out you can usually sneak in a beef Jerky or a protein bar for longer outings where you truly can’t find a healthy option. Post surgery I ALwAYS have a cooler in my car packed full of healthy options I can run back to even if I don’t expect to be out all day. If I leave the house, I’m ready for hours with my Yeti packed just in case. And I always bring my favorite salad dressing and my sugar free bbq sauce with me so if I have to do fast food I don’t have to use their high calorie sauces. I find several healthy options at Chick-fil-A. Any of their Salads with grilled chicken or grilled nugget kids meal with fresh fruit.

Vomiting after taking multi vitamin chewable tablet - 10th day post
ShoppGirl replied to Supafly82's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It’s trial and error really. Certain brands upset certain people. For some people it’s the iron. The one thing that seems to really help os taking with food or a shake. But wait till after your done eating and like the last couple of sips of the shake. You want the whole thing coating your stomach before you take it. -
Does Anything Help Hair Loss?
ShoppGirl replied to SoCalEm's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
From what I have heard nothing really helps with the loss. What happens is the cycle is sped up and you just shed the hair faster than normal. Most of those products will make the new hair growing in nice and healthy and thick but they won’t make slow the shedding or speed up the growth. Some people get a cute shorter cut to try distract from the issue.
