Welcome Elayne, Much of this sounds familiar to me, don't have Graves but an under active thyroid that's under control with meds and diabetes II under control with meds also. Also on meds for depression and anxiety and perienopausal. I sound so under control but still haven't gotten the lap band under control. Nanook:smile:

Ready, You're certainly revved up today! I can see where you idea of guns in general would have a negative attachement to them because of your family situation and I suppose everyone is afraid of something like that happening especially with children involved. I don't live in a high crime area so I don't really need a gun per se and have two very ferocious poochies which would protect me, I'd like to think. In my relationship I'd probably be the more liberal of the two of us, my husband is active in a gun club and likes to target shoot for sport only as he's not a hunter. He does have a few rifles, maybe 3 or 4 but everything is locked up and then keys placed on different areas of the house it wouldn't really do us much good unless we were given maybe 10 minute notice in writing by the perpetrator. So we're not the scary gun owners that a lot of people think of when guns come into it. We're very responsible and my husband knows this is important to me which is probably why they would never be used to protect us, lol! My sister on the other hand lives in a higher crime area and her husband sleeps with a pistol under his pillow or mattress, not sure which. This is itself to me is totally insane! You can imagine what crosses my mind about this and not even sure I want to stay there! To me it's only asking for trouble and you know in the end if that gun were use it's probably more likely used in an emotional heated moment than an actual act of crime! Anyway thought I'd add my 2 p in, Nanook:smile:

Susan, I guess Palomino bugs are kind of like Palmetto but they have long white fur and fly, lol. I always get my horses and my bugs confused:lol: Either way cockroaches should not fly! Happy Fourth of July EO!

In my house by the time the key to a gun case was retrieved we'd be done with!

All I know is I went from a slummy cockroach infested apartment to a Myrtle Beach condo for a week one year and I was there by myself and all of a sudden a flying cockroach appeared! I was mortified! The only time I've ever seen one since. Someone called them palomino (sp) bugs. In MD we have gnats but up north you get black fies which are a little bigger than a gnat but they bite! Don't like them and neither do the dogs!:thumbup:

I thought sh&^t on a shingle was creamed dried beef on toast! And someone tell me what a gosh darn love bug is or I'll feel like I'm a poster on your ignore list and I'll :thumbup:

I'd like to think of my dog as a deterrent to a break-in and have had my car broken in and items stolen from it while it was parked in my driveway. My husband is a gun collector and I believe in the rights of US citizens to be able to have fire arms as long as it's done legally. I do believe shooting someone like that was wrong, and I personally never would have. I'm one of those people who don't even know if I could! He had the cops on the line didn't he from what I remember of the 911 calls. It was a bit insane and very sad.

They're not palomino bugs are they, they're kind of like flying cockroaches, are they the same thing as love bugs? We have black flies which bite and then you get mosquitoes which bite and then they die when it gets cold! I could deal with a bug that flew as long as it didn't bite or sting!

Ready, Now we know there's a new group to hate "people with accents" it's all relative of course but it's the unspoken prejudice or is it spoken? Now I'm confusing myself. I think when I hear southern accents it's a good feeling because I think of vacations because we always went to the east coast southern beaches for vacation every year, mainly NC. I also miss the south because I live up north so it's refreshing to hear them. A lot of people take pride in keeping their accents when they move to a different area of the States because it's a part of their identity. I say be proud and keep your accents!:thumbup: Nanook

I think some people are blessed to have their skin be more elastic than others. Maybe it's hereditary I don't know. All I know is after my second child I received the "apron" or whatever the scientific term is. My daughter has just lost about 75 pounds in the last few months and I know at her age she'll probably want to get a TT. I think it can be a bit unsettling for people to go through WLS and lose so much weight only to be extremely unhappy with their sagging parts afterwards. I think if you go through all the trouble for WLS to be healthy and to look good why not have PS too! If I were younger or single or both I probably would too. But at my stage in life it's not that important to me. If my husband wants to see perky boobies he can look at his own:lol: Nanook.

Now that I think about it, what's the whole SC thing anyway, if she lives in Savannah, that's still Georgia from what I remember in geography class! LOL. Maybe people are confusing Savannah and Charleston. My daughter is a linguistics major and getting her masters in it as well. She thinks I speak like a "hick", this is what happens when you move up north, your children turn into snobs!!!

Sorry to hear about the loss of your dog Pedro, I know it's really hard as they give you unconditional love and have lost two previously myself and know the heartache, so sorry, Nanook.
