7 months, slow losing, definite progress
AprilE replied to travel_anna's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am a slooooowww loser too. Getting burned out on Curves, had to go back on birth control, and my insulin resistance med. I am hoping the Actos will counteract the weight gain from the Junel. Last visit to doc I had GAINED 4 pounds upped my fill to an 8 now. Now the doc is talking about weight loss meds. Damnit, I mean if I knew I was going to have to go on Adipex or something else, what was the point of banding? ARRRGHHH!:smile2: -
I got mine at my local xxx. shop, but I am sure they are on the internet somewhere. JT's Stockroom - Dynamo Bullet Vibrator, Micro this is a nice guide to beginner shopping, highly recommended. Ultimate Beginner's Sex Toy Guide for Women @ VibeReview

First of all, congratulations for making it to the surgery, think of what all you have been through to this this far...yoyo dieting, tons of get slim quick schemes, wasted money, heartbreaking failures, all for the purpose of getting YOUR life back. I know it seems like you are waving bye to eating, you really aren't, you are beginning to get yourself back, to let go of the web that has tangled your life like so many of us on here. Once you see some progress, you will NEVER want to go back to binge eating again. You just have to make a few adjustments till you get the surgery, you don't want them having to close you up and not have the band because your liver was obstructing the surgeons view right?Keep your chin up, you are SO VERY CLOSE NOW!:tt1: -
I had inverts too, it DID help them. I preferred the barbells they were more comfortable, and were less likely to get snagged on something. I took them out for surgery, I wish I still had mine, they made my nips look great.

First of all, congratulations on your weight loss, you have much to celebrate! I would suggest going out with friends, that way there isn't so much pressure to "find someone."If you happen to see some hottness well then that is a fringe benefit! Other support will give you the boost of confidence you need, and will also love you enough to be honest about your apparel, in the meantime, perhaps you might buy a personal type of item to keep those action moments at bay till you find the real thing!lol.:cursing:

I would have went in with you D .I also suggest a different approach, there are plenty of DVDs out there that specialize in tantric sex, if you haven't heard of it, it falls into more of the spiritual side of sexuality. How to focus your mind, tune your body in with your mind and really explore a different kind of enjoyment. Kind of along with what Fanny is talking about where it isn't so much about the O as the journey getting there. You will also explore a deeper relationship with your partner and through a united connection you both receive pleasure. Some of them look a bit like tree huggers, but give em a chance. I have even seen seminars out in beautiful places with other couples, I would go in a heartbeat, but they usually are expensive.Just google tantric sex. :cursing:

Thank you for keeping in touch with us Peter. I am sure you know that she deeply struggled with the decisions she faced. She faced her uncertainty with courage, grace, and dignity. There isn't a day I don't think of her and realize just how blessed I am. I sincerely appreciate your open mindedness about the surgery and hope that you will be able to find strength in her spirit because she lives on in this forum as a reminder to everyone what we all face. Thank you for all your time to post Peter.

She sincerely thought that what she was doing was for the best for her family and herself. She died and that is a horrible tragedy, but it could have been ANY of us. We can't allow uncertainty to pave our paths for us. We all know that our health is at risk the sizes that we are, choosing to lose weight by any means necessary is the most pro-active step that we can take. I pray that her family might somehow piece together the events and know that she is one of the bravest people I have ever known. She will be deeply missed and I think about her every time I log onto the site.

It seems to me what we banders call "sliming" nice huh? Perhaps you are a bit swollen from the surgery still and everything is extra tight. Try to take it easy with soups and brothy type eats until the swelling goes down. I stress calling the doctor also. Be extra careful as to not irritate your band by eating foods you are not ready for, forcing the band or vomiting could cause slippage. I hope that you are better soon, and keep us updated.

Do you still enjoy eating?
AprilE replied to Sooverit!'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Boy I can relate to those "make a happy plate days!" Now my whole body is uhhh happy..lol:thumbdown: But it is changing...day by day. I am constantly getting things stuck too, but that is EXACTLY what I need to make myself stop. And nothing works better than that, stop dead in your tracks...yeah I am done.lol -

I just saw this! I am relieved that you are doing better. Fills make me nauseous and a bit dizzy too, not sure why. Please be careful and don't go driving or walk any tightropes this week I need you support buddy! -
Right now I am studying Illustrations and working with Adobe Illustrator but this is a quick and fun one I did for last semester. I also created the victorious valentines logo on my signature.

Anyone experiencing change of taste/smell?
AprilE replied to Mom2_4's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am with Fanny on this one, I suppose because of the liver diet salt and sugar are REALLY sensitive to me.It is hard to eat lots of processed foods that I used to love. Which is a real blessing because I don't need them anyway. I also agree with the fried thing it is just to heavy on the stomach now. My one sinful treat is extra crispy french fries, and boy do I have to chew...lol. -
YAY Chrisann! If it is any consolation, I met my husband of five years online. It sure beats the hell out of going to the same old bars with the usual drunks and the "i bought you a beer now that entitles my to a roll in the hay mindset." Good luck to you sweetie.

Do you still enjoy eating?
AprilE replied to Sooverit!'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Being a Southerner the kitchen table is where we sit for hours, before, during, and after the meal, then coffee with a piece of pecan pie, or coffee cake...you get the gist...lol. It WAS the center of my life for nearly thirty years. Now I can chatter and not think about "well I will try some of this, and have a slice of that, and oh that looks delicious, just a bite or two of that." I would be an idiot to say I don't miss diving into all of that, BUT, now all I need is just a bite or two, and my craving is gone. God you have NO IDEA just how satisfying it is to turn down Mama's Lemon Ice Box pie. -
I have told everyone I know just about.lol Either way, it is my body, my decision, and my life. I feel it is so much better than continuing my yo yo dieting or nothing at all. We are choosing to do something about our health, something positive, surely people can realize that it is the best possible thing I can do for my family, to be the healthiest mom I can be. They are so proud, it just reiterates that I made the right decision. I am proud of myself, and it shows physically, mentally, and spiritually.

Surgery on 6/26 and still not losing
AprilE replied to Stillhoping's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi there, I completely understand your situation. I was banded in February, and you can see my results. But without trying to beat a dead horse. It IS really important NOT to drink while eating, before or after either. I never realized just how important this was until I started doing it. I can attribute this to the weight I have lost so far. Before this time I wasn't losing anything because I was completely counterproducting myself by drinking. I just had to get used to it. It really stinks, but it is essential, at least in MY success. Keep your chin up dear, we are rooting for you!! -
This reminds me of just why all those darned pre-op diets were really good for me. Believe me I cursed them EVERY day, but I have to admit that (especially with the liver shrinking diet,) since I stopped the diet I RARELY use salt anymore. When I drink even a SIP of Coke, all I can taste is salt...it is unbelieveable how bad it tastes. I feel really fortunate that I don't crave it.It makes me feel bloated too. So looking back, all the diets weren't SO horrible...lol.

Nothing makes me feel better than helping others. Sometimes I pay for the person's coffee behind me in the drive thru, other times I make house calls to hospitals for a quick hair trim, or style, other times I go to the animal shelter to help out, they always need help with something. I am seriously in need of a pep, I should go help this week. Keeps me active, my kids active, and my mind off of food.
