Would you recommend surgery for young people? LONG, sorry
suburbaneck replied to victhemystic's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Everyone has differing opinions, but personally, I would not want to have surgery prior to having kids (not sure if you want kids). I was extremely nauseous during my first pregnancy for months and I couldn’t imagine having to deal with additional dietary restrictions after I finally was able to eat again. Others probably feel differently tho! -

I don’t have my date yet, but it will be in June. Feeling a little nervous about such a major change to my body.

Okay, this might ruffle some feathers, but I think that’s a load of BS and I’m REALLY sorry that happened to you. We all self-medicate with food. Literally every single one of us uses food inappropriately in one way or another or we wouldn’t be seeking WLS. You’ve already been in therapy and isn’t that what would happen anyway? More therapy. She could tweak your meds without “failing” you. I’m sorry but I feel like you should be assertive and get another opinion. Seems like the psychologist might’ve been on a power trip and/or looking to increase income by ensuring future visits.

I’m in the pre-op process and will likely have surgery in July, or worst care scenario, the first week of August.

1 year after gastric sleeve problems...

This is going to sound weird, but I think you should get evaluated for ADHD. I have experienced much of what you’ve experienced, symptom-wise, although I’ve not had the surgery yet, I just hear myself in your words. If it is adhd, medication can help tremendously. -

Lack of support for post-op
suburbaneck replied to brooketw's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven’t had surgery yet, but as someone who has endured 3 c-sections with vertical incisions, I think it might be best to board the dog if he’s at all jumpy or be prepared to crate him. The dogs are my number one concern in terms of managing after surgery. I’m sorry your parents are not being as supportive as they once were. Perhaps they are scared for you to go under anesthesia? If your work schedule works out so that April is best, I can’t imagine why you should postpone it to a time when it might be less convenient.
