Hi KittyHawk, I can honestly say everyone is different. I know most will say 20 pounds is the standard number for losing after revision but there are cases where you can lose more. My original sleeve surgery needed to be revised for a couple of reasons and I regained about 30 pounds of the 60 I had lost. I went into the RNY revision weighing 181 pounds after losing around 9 or so during pre-op. I had the revision in February and I now weigh 143 pounds and the weight is still coming off. I also weigh 12 pounds less than what I was on the sleeve. It is definitely true about slower loss: I've stalled a couple times and this last one lasted almost 2 months. But it will come off. Good luck!

Sweet Mother of God. I do believe I am having a full fledged dumping episode. I have cold sweats, awful stomach cramps, and I am very uncomfortable. How long does it last?? I haven't been able to use the bathroom or throw up. Do papaya enzymes work? I'm desperate. 😫

Hi all, I was just wondering when weight loss stops with revision to bypass. So far I've lost about 25 pounds and am happy but I would like to lose a bit more. I had revision surgery in February. Any ideas of when the honeymoon phase ends?

Honeymoon Period

I was revised in February and so far I've lost 28 pounds. I would like to lose another 20-25. The weight, though not flying off, is pretty steady at coming off in ounces. I stall every now and again but it lasts maybe a week. I initially didn't like the RNY but I really appreciate it now. I definitely have restriction and it is very easy to not go overboard otherwise I'll be in agony and I'm against that! I am in a caloric deficit for sure but I'm wondering if my body will get used to the tiny amount I'm taking in and just stop losing. -
Hi all, I had the sleeve around 2 years ago and now, because of GERD, I need a revision and am scheduled for the 24th. I also gained back around half of the weight I lost. According to my doctor, (new surgeon) my former surgeon took about 50% of my stomach when the norm is about 70-90%. I never did reach my goal and was frustrated. I am curious if anyone has experienced anything similar and if they were able to reach their goal with revision. Also, with regards to dumping: does it also happen with Splenda and the like?

I'm not sure about the mechanism. I was revised to bypass last month from gastric sleeve and I also have no restriction. I also have not lost any weight in over a month. Not sure it was worth it.

I had my revision surgery on 2/24. My weight was 181. Since then I am only at 173 (it bounces a couple of pounds). It has not moved (mostly) since 3/5. Getting water in is brutal. The taste is awful to me and no matter what I try it just doesn't work. I've started going on walks (when the weather permits) and also hop on the exercise bike when I can. I am hitting protein goals. I keep going back and forth between saying "it's just a stall" and "that's it - you did this for a measly 8 pounds". My original surgery was the sleeve and I was always stalling. I am just a little down in the dumps and needed to vent.

Tastes Really do change.
Plutonium replied to ShoppGirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Taste change is definitely happening to me. I cannot stand the taste of water. It tastes as if it has chemicals in it. I've tried a few different brands, both with and without flavor including Hint, and my own Brita pitcher to no avail. The only way I can get any water in is with Crystal Light lemonade. But no other flavor because I can taste the fake sweetness in them. I'm growing weary of it and hope my taste changes, at least where water is concerned. -
Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone has any idea if there is a supplement we can take in lieu of the shakes. They're making me sick and I cannot stand the disgusting protein powder. I am 1 week and a few days out and I'm struggling to get the protein in. I just can't take the taste of the shakes anymore.

Had my revision to bypass on 2/24. Originally had a sleeve and needed to revise because of GERD. I don't remember being this exhausted when I had the sleeve. I can barely go from one room to another without sitting. Just started pureed stage and I'm hoping it will help with my energy levels. Living off of crystal light, broth, and protein shakes. Just had some egg drop soup and it tasted like heaven! Started at 181# and I'm down to 167. So far...no GERD. Hoping this worked.

Thanks. Yeah, I see my doctor next week. I'm supposed to start my pureed diet tomorrow and it seems like a daunting task. I definitely don't feel right. I'm just so exhausted and get random pains in my stomach.

Hi all, So I had the revision surgery to RNY on the 24th and I initially had no problem drinking. As of yesterday I am having major issues. I started protein shakes Friday and I'm pretty sure I dumped on the evening shake. I thought maybe I took my vitamin and shake too close together. But now I am also having severe pain when I drink water. It feels as though my stomach is being stabbed and twisted. I've tried both warm and cold and get the same results. Is this normal?
